I hope we finally get to see more of Arek (not necessarily as a "villain"). He's the head honcho, yar? I want them to shed some more light on the guy!!! >:/

Yep, he's thought to be the leader of the Sinistrals.
But (minor spoiler, I guess) there's a little talk of "good" super beings in Lufia II, and it kind of seemed like Arek might be in charge of them as well (but then again, I haven't played Lufia II for quite a while, so my memory may be faulty). I kind of see him as the "god" of the Lufia universe, so it will definitely be interesting to see what kind of role he'll have, if any.

Am I the only one who wants this game to be the reboot to the whole series instead of continuation? While I want sinistrals to appear in the game, I would like to see the completely different storyline starting from it.

While I want sinistrals to appear in the game, I would like to see the completely different storyline starting from it. Actually, I WOULD like to see a re-envisioning of Lufia II -- mainly to add some more character development in the game. It sort of annoyed me how Maxim and Selan just get married out of the blue. Well, not COMPLETELY out of the blue but there just wasn't enough warming up between them, IMO and ... er, as far as I can remember. I also remember going "WTF?" at Maxim sort of not realizing Tia's affection. I understand that he only thought of her as a sister but still ... >:\ I wonder how it'd feel to play as the Sinistrals? XD Edit: Oh! What's more is that I would absolutely LOVE an arranged or redone Lufia II soundtrack. That OST still remains one of my all-time faves. :3

I haven't even played the first one, and I hear it's quite shabby, especially compared to Lufia II, so I'd have preferred a Lufia I remake.

Oh no... So do I have to play Lufia I to properly understand Lufia II's story?

Don't worry. There's no need to play Lufia I to understand the plot of Lufia II since Lufia II is the prequel to Lufia I. If anything, playing Lufia I will tell you how the story in Lufia II will end.

Playing Lufia 1 will spoil the ending of Lufia 2 as soon as start. I highly I recommend skipping 1 if you want to avoid spoilers.

But going from II to I kinda of sucks though because II is just sooooooooo much better in a multitude of ways. :(

That reminds me a little of Crisis Core and FFVII. Well, CC's ending still blew me away even though you could figure it out from the start. Probably the only FFVII-related thing which actually deserves it's popularity (which isn't that big), as far as I'm concerned
ahem, anyway, I think I'll still go for Lufia I first, since that's the way the developers intended it

I've never played this series, but I've got a friend who talks it about it an awful lot. Says Lufia II is his favorite RPG evar. When I told him I heard this news it made his day.

I *love* FF7, but think Crisis Core is mostly just emo nonsense. It's an *OK* game, which is more than I can say about almost anything else Square has released in the last decade or so, but its story and character development is just SO RETARDEDLY EMO that I can't get into it at all. I only played the Japanese version from start till finish and from what I could see and understand, Zack didn't seem to spend much of the game moping around. :\ I stopped somewhere on disc 1 in FFVII so I do not have much opinion of it! :D Although ... I was in on the hype when the game first came out. Ufufufufufu.

While Lufia I is a little archaic compared to Lufia II, its still a great 16 bit RPG. This is a board full of old school nerds content with playing all sorts of old content, which is why I'm having a hard time understanding the apprehension to Lufia 1. Its very much worth playing, even as a stand alone title. The music is awesome, and its actually quite fun to play after running through Lufia II. Its the 3rd game (GBC) that I've had a hard time getting into, although I have enjoyed the 9 character party battles.

The original FF7 was sooooo much better, and IMHO really deserves its popularity. Still one of my top ten favorite games of all time. -Tom Our opinions are completely reversed, then. I think Cloud is one of the worst, most emo main characters of all time, and I thought a shockingly large portion of the game was dedicated to fleshing out his emo self, but it just made him seem ridiculous to me. =/ Zack wasn't really emo, though, it seems to me like he holds his head high through the entire game. Zack is one of my favorite videogame characters, even. I also found his and Aeris' relationship pretty heartwarming. Cloud and Aeris' relationship, though... ew. What really killed FFVII for me was the second disc, though. The first disc was pretty exciting, especially the Shinra infiltration and Cloud's flashback after you escape; those were easily the highlights of the game for me. But then on the second disc the pacing just goes to hell and you mostly just wander around without a clear purpose, it was SO boring until very late into it. Also, I hate Sephiroth in FFVII, but he's actually decent in CC as far as I'm concerned. If it helps explain my feelings, I first played the game three months ago, so it wasn't a revolutionary game for me, personally. Then again, I also first played FFIV about seven months ago, and I vastly prefer that to FFVII, so I dunno. Maybe FFVII and I just don't mix.

CONSTANTLY. I don't even think there's an item or anything that can prevent that status?), AND THE FETCH QUEST. FUCK. YOU. DR. RAILLE. You stupid shithead that can't give me a list of everything you need in one shot. (IIRC, Secret of Mana had a fetch quest too and that caused me to instantly drop the game. I despise them with a passion.) I'm so glad his ancestor isn't as much as a knob as him. Hell, I LOVED Lexis. ^^;;;

Granted, FFVII deserves A LOT of popularity. But not what it's already got. Nothing deserves that much. Not even Chuck Norris.

You stupid shithead that can't give me a list of everything you need in one shot. Lufia I isn't that bad, in my opinion. It's mainly those stupid fetch quests being spread all over the place. The battle system does take a bit of getting used to, though. ;) Well, that and the story doesn't really pick up until a bit late in the game. Lufia II's pretty much perfect, except for how easy the battles are, especially late in the game (there are some patches that make the final fights a lot more difficult). As for TLR, the main problems are the "random" dungeon layouts, and the lack of puzzles. At least it has a nice battle system (can even potentially find one of the most powerful swords very early on :o), but thanks to the "random" dungeons, I frequently found myself just trying to find the stairs to the next floor. Although I think the worst thing about it is not knowing where to go if you try and pick it up again after not playing for a while; the game doesn't do a good job of directing you where to go (in part thanks to the horrible translation).
