Our opinions are completely reversed, then. I think Cloud is one of the worst, most emo main characters of all time, and I thought a shockingly large portion of the game was dedicated to fleshing out his emo self, but it just made him seem ridiculous to me. =/ Zack wasn't really emo, though, it seems to me like he holds his head high through the entire game. Zack is one of my favorite videogame characters, even. I also found his and Aeris' relationship pretty heartwarming. Cloud and Aeris' relationship, though... ew. What really killed FFVII for me was the second disc, though. The first disc was pretty exciting, especially the Shinra infiltration and Cloud's flashback after you escape; those were easily the highlights of the game for me. But then on the second disc the pacing just goes to hell and you mostly just wander around without a clear purpose, it was SO boring until very late into it. Also, I hate Sephiroth in FFVII, but he's actually decent in CC as far as I'm concerned. If it helps explain my feelings, I first played the game three months ago, so it wasn't a revolutionary game for me, personally. Then again, I also first played FFIV about seven months ago, and I vastly prefer that to FFVII, so I dunno. Maybe FFVII and I just don't mix. Yeah, our opinions are DEFINITELY reversed, as I think Cloud is one of the most complex, interesting main characters in any RPG *ever*, and Sephiroth one of the greatest villains... and it was on and around disc two of FF7 that I really fell in love with it. And no, Zack himself isn't emo in Crisis Core, but EVERYONE ELSE IS, PRETTY MUCH WITHOUT EXCEPTION. The dumbapples!! WHO WILL SAVE THE DUMBAPPLES?!?! I think much as you and FF7 do not mix, FF7 and I very much *do* mix, as I consider it to be an absolute masterpiece of a game, with a story deserving of study in college-level English courses (I actually wrote many an essay on the game during my time in college, in fact). -Tom Ah, well minus the essay part, that's how I feel about FFX and Tidus and Jecht. So I completely understand how you feel, albeit about a different game.

While Lufia I is a little archaic compared to Lufia II, its still a great 16 bit RPG. This is a board full of old school nerds content with playing all sorts of old content, which is why I'm having a hard time understanding the apprehension to Lufia 1. Its very much worth playing, even as a stand alone title. The music is awesome, and its actually quite fun to play after running through Lufia II. Its the 3rd game (GBC) that I've had a hard time getting into, although I have enjoyed the 9 character party battles. I think it's just me. XD Everyone else seems more happy with Lufia I. :B But what annoyed me about the game even till this day is the whole attacking empty space bit, really cheap final boss (he KEPT putting my party members to sleep. CONSTANTLY. I don't even think there's an item or anything that can prevent that status?), AND THE FETCH QUEST. FUCK. YOU. DR. RAILLE. You stupid shithead that can't give me a list of everything you need in one shot. (IIRC, Secret of Mana had a fetch quest too and that caused me to instantly drop the game. I despise them with a passion.) I'm so glad his ancestor isn't as much as a knob as him. Hell, I LOVED Lexis. ^^;;; IIRC, you just keep using mirror(or whatever) on the final boss, & it reflects the magic back at him, that is what I remember being the real key to beating it.

Secret of Mana? Oh, I dropped that game at some point because grinding the magic you required at later points was too tedious and most bosses in the game enjoyed unfairly stunlocking me with spells and killing me without me being able to do anything at all.

Were talking about X right? Aren't you just supposed to use Wall on the end boss, because he constantly heals himself? I've never had problems with him at all.
The hardest end bosses in my recent travels have been: Mr. Asshole at the end of Metroid Prime 2, and the Supreme Asshole at the end of Legend of Heroes IV (The first PSP game).

the entire time I read this thread, the Lufia II battle music was flying through my head.
:-D
I can't wait for this game. It inspired me to start Lufia I again because that game is a perfect piece of perfection.

Bah, even though the DS is a wonderful system, it's not really a place for traditional, non-touchy RPGs to go, IMO. I'd prefer the PSP and it's superior specs for those.
Ah well, from a business perspective, there are certainly a lot more people with a DS than with a PSP, so this is the right move for them.

Well, the comparisons I found are a little over two months old, but regardless, at that point we were looking at 55 million PSP units sold worldwide, and 113 DS units sold worldwide.
At least it's safe to say the DS has still sold significantly better, even if the PSP got some serious wind over the last few months. Besides, there's also the "seedy" issue that there's no real excuse not to mod your PSP, because the options it provides make it at least twice as good as an unmodded PSP. As a result, there are many modded PSPs, more than there are DS' with flashcarts, IIRC. It's not enough to destroy sales for any given game, but I wouldn't be surprised if developers still fuss about it.

I can hold my head high as an owner and user of a PSP that's better than yours, then. Seriously though, you're missing out. If you aren't morally flexible enough to pirate games, just do what I do.

Playing emulated games on the computer is such a hassle, though! It feels so much more natural to play a PSX game on the PSP than on the PC, and then it's also portable.
Besides, it's not a slight speed upgrade, it's a HUGE speed upgrade. I understand what you mean about not fixing things that aren't broken, but compared to a PSP with CFW, a PSP with OFW is broken, as far as I'm concerned.

Well, I guess if you have all that stuff and a hefty patience (unlike me, I'm patient when it counts, but load times always get on my nerves), I guess CFW only offers various homebrew abilities that one may or may not care about.
I don't even know how to play via TV-out, though, so I always play on the PSP itself. You probably need some strange extra cables, right?

I have a PSP-2000 and a HD TV, but I have no idea if I have a component cable or not. I think the cable I bought for my Wii so I could play in 480p is a component cable, but that doesn't seem to fit with my PSP.
Either way, I'm totally satisfied just playing on my PSP, so it doesn't really matter to me.

Oh, a remake of Lufia II? How convenient for me. I wonder if it'll surpass the original; it should if FFIII and FFIV DS are any indications. Well, no remake would save III from it's own atrociousness, but IV was a good game made better.
3D graphics on the DS are usually so ugly, though, so I'm not sure how I feel about that...

Wait, how long is that cable, anyway? I still use the PSP to play even if I hook it up to the TV, don't I? Unless I'm completely misunderstanding something, it sounds like I'd need to sit down on the floor in front of my TV and play there.

Its long enough where you can sit on a couch 3-4 ft from the tv. You still need to be inclose proximity though, like the distance of a SNES controller to the deck.

I don't mind the small resolution to be honest. Most SHMUP games take up 30% of the TV screen, and if you have a big TV, it still comes out pretty large. Plus, its like 500% bigger than the PSP screen so......... yeah, no complaints from me.

From the interview -It was a request by SE -It's in no way a port -It's different from a remake; the story, characters, and world-view have been reconstructed -The Wave Device is (a) key, the world is different from the SNES version -It's still like a Lufia game -The bottom screen is only used for changing characters -The D-Pad is more central than the stylus -It's programmed so bosses take up both screens -While the bosses are difficult, a guide isn't needed (I think that's what he said...) -Action game players will be satisfied, but it's fine for those who aren't good at action games as well -The elements are a growth of the RPG (you'll be hurt if you waste time) -The scenario is based on II, and there are parts where the lines are the same as II's, but it's basically been completely rewritten -The number of places like towns that will be in the game is different from I and II -There are also elements we tried to add for the fans of the series so far -You can figure out hidden setups within the puzzles -They're bringing back music from I and II -The sound quality has been improved without tampering with the melody line -The main staff from the original version are making it -They're keeping things like "xxx of Magic" and "Magical xxx" as they are since back then (I think they're talking about treasures/items or something?)
