I beat nightmare mode a while ago and came back to try my hand at inferno mode. But it isn't available. Is there a patch out there that I need? Thanks.

Two requirements, I believe. First, have Falcom's "Very Easy" patch installed. Second, and this one I'm not entirely sure of, you have to beat the Nightmare Boss Rush.

If you have the latest patch installed (the one that enables Very Easy), you only need to beat the game on Nightmare to enable Inferno, not the Nightmare Boss Rush.

Are you certain? I'm in the same situation as sgp6, with the Nightmare difficulty beaten some time ago, but no Inferno difficulty option. The one thing I haven't done yet is the Nightmare boss rush, and that's because it's too difficult/time consuming. And yes, the Very Easy difficulty is enabled, though I've never messed with it.

I'm fairly certain that Nightmare Boss Rush has to be cleared to unlock Inferno.

Crap, I -know- I can't beat Galbalan on Nightmare Time Trial. He's too hard and deals too much damage. ;_;
Edit: And I just checked, I do have very easy available.

I think there may be a way to activate Inferno mode by messing around with the "ysf_win.ini" file (found in the "Documents and Settings\Your Username\Application Data\FALCOM" portion of your computer), but I don't recall what exactly needs to be done. Perhaps someone else can tell you more.
Personally, I'd rather unlock it normally, but that's just me. If you do try and access it normally, good luck, as the Nightmare boss rush is pretty tough almost as soon as it starts (for me, at least).

If you do try and access it normally, good luck, as the Nightmare boss rush is pretty tough I HATE CHESTER II lol, me too -.-' he's far more difficult than galbalan itself, i often manage to take galbalan to the last part, but chester... it's really hard, i've take him under the 1000HP 3 or 4 times i think, and i've tried something like 100 times(i've not counted them, maybe it's even more), i've managed to take him to around 250HP one time, but not killed him -.-' i hate him -.-'

i'd have a question, i've installed the game with the 1203 patch, but there's no very easy difficulty when i start a new game, that means there will be no inferno difficulty too if i beat the nightmare bossrush??? :\

I'm not sure, but probably not.
Try re-installing Falcom's patch, and then run Nightwolve's again, if you were using it before (Nightwolve's patcher is supposed to automatically download the "Very Easy" one, but the links have since been changed). If that doesn't work, make sure Falcom's patch has "VE" in the file name.

The VE patch. Run that, and perhaps Doppiapunta's patch afterwards (it's usually a good idea to install official patches before unofficial ones). If that doesn't work, I don't know what to tell you.

Congratulations! Personally, I'm lucky to be past Istersiva or Gildias before that amount of time has passed, by which point I'm usually ready to quit.

well the first bosses aren't too difficult, just chester give always me some problem, gyalva is the one that takes the most to be beaten, but once i've found that using the boost make you invincible for a little time, and using the fireball let you take half the damage, it takes a few tries gildias i think is really the simplest big boss of the game, the only thing you need to do is stay between its legs btw chester 2 is the more complicated, and difficult after beating galbalan, berhard isn't so difficult, he only has a great amount of HP, but if you can beat chester 2 he's not so strong XD

I'll agree with you that Gildias is one of the easier "big bosses", except I have a really hard time evading that move where he dives at you and drops you (the actual dropping is fairly simple, so long as I have full Earth magic). Plus, it doesn't help that Death Faleon, Zirduros, and Chester2 (some of my major boss troubles) are right after. After spending so much time on the previous bosses (usually), facing those doesn't sound like much fun at all.
Besides, I feel like I should really be focusing on the Ys II run right now, instead of this.

i think that that attack is better if it's not avoided, since the ice that fall from above can hit you, and if that happens, gildias will take you the same, so better not let its take your energy in the end, in the part that follow i always stay on the right, and use the earth spell when needed, it's really rare that you will get 4 rocks in a row by one side of the fall(it's happened only 2 times to me) and in the end that hit will not kill you probably it's the only boss that i beat at the first try when i fight him
