Haha, yeah. Think I've seen all of them so far, Butler's not Segata Sanshiro but he's pretty awesome nonetheless.

He touts that while it seems inventive, it is a wasted effort, and Sony has got it right by developing in a Home Theater atmosphere. I was thinking about it this morning, and I thought that portable 3D didn't really make a lot of sense -- staring at a tiny screen with a lot going on around you isn't exactly immersive, so it seems like they're using the technology in a place where it's kind of wasted. On the other hand, the only alternative is home theater 3D -- and good 3D home theater technology (as opposed to the red-and-blue anaglyph glasses) is going to be expensive for quite some time -- and we just moved to HDTV a few years ago, so I doubt most people will want to invest in another new technology so quickly. 3D is becoming popular again -- but even if it's here to stay, it'll be a long time until we see it widespread in homes. If Nintendo thinks they can give us small 3D screens before then, it'll seem like a bold new step whether it really is or not. Honestly, I hope that they give people a way to turn off the 3D effect, and that games don't rely on it too much. There are plenty of people who can't or won't want to use it for various reasons, and it'd be bad for them to get locked out (and if they don't give the option, I hope that people vote with their wallet on this one!) -- while it might add a nice touch, it's hard to imagine it being used for more than that without becoming a trite gimmick. The Wii and the DS were about giving people a new way to control their games, but this is just about what they look like, and appearance only goes skin deep.

I wonder what will be the way to market software with 3D effects ? Speaking of Nintendo,I think they will slap "3D" on every major IP like 3D Mario Kart , 3D Star Fox , 3D Mario Party and so on, But what about first wave of third party software ? you can’t transmit the 3D effect on a TV commercial.

The whole advertising thing is going to be fun, yeah. They'll need more kiosks than ever in stores, for one thing. I'm looking forward to the E3 presentation though.
"This looks cool on the real thing honest! You're going to have to try it later! And you guys at home... um... it looks cool on the real thing honest!"

I wouldn't be surprised if this happened, and if it does, I'm officially done buying new games.
