Yeah, I'm really hoping I can find a job soon.
Because there's no way I'll be able to afford a Wii and Other M with just my allowance, unless I saved for over a year. (and this is counting money from mowing the lawn)

Metroid and Super Metroid were fast-paced and kinda overwhelming for their times. From the gameplay vid it strikes me like they're trying to keep that sense of speed exploring by updating the action to modern standards of "fast-paced". Also I paid a lot of attention to the minimap. A lot of the rooms in the trailer seemed linear, but others looked more complicated. And then I think back to old Metroid games and there's a lot of linear rooms in those games too.. but they're connecting rooms. I'm getting the impression that a lot of the rooms in the trailer equate to 1 or 2 block rooms in Super Metroid with a few hints of 6 block rooms or larger. Rather than staying mired in retro 2D, Other M is trying to take the experience of the old games, update it, and evolve it. I like where this is going.
What I'm worried about (and read to completely ignore) is the story. The best Metroid plots involve Samus, space pirates, and Metroids with the only talking (if any) done at the beginning and end of the game. Prime 1 was great in that regard.. and increasingly worse in Prime 2 & 3. I'm hoping at worst we'll just get another Fusion-like story where all the memorable moments happen through expressive art and animations during the actual game and everyone forgets that Samus even has a handler in that game. It's funny. When I think of the most memorable moments in Metroid, they're always scripted in-game sequences that were just very good at getting the mood across without having to use words at all

Lookin' pretty badass. I withhold judgment 'til release day, though! Cautious optimism, indeed.

The story in Prime 2 and 3 was pretty bad, but I too enjoyed the story in Fusion, for some reason. I do like all the Prime games, though.
This game looks pretty cool.
