....for once I agree with schlag. (what is this world coming to? ) If any of the mods read this, (I'm looking at you, Tom, MP, or UM) could remove Tia's name from as well as stick the (Spoiler) bit in the thread title to the beginning? //Damn, already did it right after I posted. you work quick Tom! // Though you can't say ALL albino anime-style characters are evil. What about Lucia from Luminous Arc or Dante from Devil May Cry or Ohka from .Hack//DUSK or Jo from Burst Angel? (granted, Jo's more of an anti-hero but still not evil) //I was more than shocked, Tom. I was, I guess you can say, mortified! I thought Tia was the "kind girl & love interest of the week" and then she does a 180 and pretty much says that she was playing you for a fool the whole time! Also, is it a little weird that I was about tear out in disbelief? //

You should be more concerned about the 10-15 minutes of intense laser/tornado/fireballs/eruption/kitchen sink dodging you'll be doing. That, and... let me search the forums to see if there's a way to color text in the bkg color.

There is, but I forget what it is. I'll look it up when I get home. Never heard of looking at the source code of a Web page before? :P Anyway, MP83 revealed how~!

OK, now excuse me as I edit my first post.
//Also, sorry for spoiling a major plot point in the game for you, MP! //

Spoiler:The end would have been far less heartbreaking without all the promises of saving her. I didn't dodge all that shit to see her go out like that.

Do we need spoiler text at this point? I kinda hope not because seriously, marked thread and we're on the second page.
but just in case END GAME SPOILERS AHOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
But I have to agree with the OP that Tia is actually pretty evil. I mean yeah, Ys is known for its Heel/Face turns, but at the end of the day Tia was pretty friggen Evil. It was made clear that the whole murdering the King killing the entire country was HER idea. Yes Iskan fever was a side effect of whatever freak decided to set up Altago's ridiculous cosmology (my opinion, it was a serious bored Eldean.) but that in no way makes up for her basically embarking on genocide.
It was a fun twist, and fairly unexpected, even though I figured it out a few hours before the reveal, but you can't convince me that Aisha wouldn't stab her in the face at the first opportunity. All this talk of her being able to come back and live in repentance was DUMB DUMB DUMB!
The bitch was EVIL! A polite, kind to her friends evil, but evil nonetheless.

I found that evil people are often crazy, and they also tend to think they are in the right. She had her reasons, she thought that what she was doing would be better for the world... that's great.
She was still willing to sacrifice the population of an entire country in order to bring back balance. That's Ra's al'ghul style evil right there. Not to mention the horrible things she did like ordering the King murdered in such a way that Adol takes the fall for it, leading to his torture and almost certain death. Her actions and decisions were straight up evil. She might not have chosen to be the person who resets Altago, but she DID put several events into motion that caused a LOT of suffering. It's just ironic that she wanted to END suffering.
Was she PURE evil? No, I never said she was. That's reserved for Darm, Galbalan and the like. But her actions make her more reprehensible than villains like Ernst. She's more like Dark Fact in that she let personal tragedy distort her thinking and give her an excuse to do horrible, horrible things.

Dark Fact has a back story?

I didn't know that either. Perhaps it's something in Ys Origin. Or maybe in some kind of drama CD

I thought this came up recently but it might have been a thread from a while back. Dark Fact was basically a normal dude and he and his dad were the last two members of the Fact bloodline in Esteria. When the Esterians were all wanting to mine the silver in Rasteenie Dark's dad was all HELL NO! The villagers disagreed, killed him, and that pretty much broke Dark's mind, he went all demon, broke the seals and unleashed the Apocalypse. I believe this was in the manual which has a TON of info on Esteria. (BTW a translated version of all the extra info/art in the I and II complete manuals in a nice book would be a KICKASS extra for a special edition of 1 and 2 Chronicles! Just sayin')
Back to the matter at hand. Scias was a douche, no doubt, but I thought the game made it pretty clear that the whole plan to y'know massacre Altago had been in the works for a while, we never see Tia say no to it, it was Maya's fever that got her to finally do what she knew she was going to do in the first place.

Whpa man, I didn't read that, but did you just spoil Ys Origin? I don't recall asking for that.

YsO is set 700 years in the past just after the land of Ys was raised into the sky. I can't read japanese, so I don't know what happens in the plot super well, but from what I can tell, it addresses the people of that time only. So the Dark Fact stuff should be spoiler free.

Yeah. Seeing as how Dark Fact was, y'know, a normal person, I don't see why he would even be referenced in Ys Origin. Hell, I may be wrong, but I think Dark Fact mentioned the fact that humans killed his father even in the anime.

Not sure about that one. I feel like I would remember a plot point like that. Unless when he said that, I brushed it aside as non-canon since it was the anime.

I think this plot point started in the anime, but it became canon in Eternal.

You know, I got spoiled about the whole thing with Tia back on GameFAQs by accident. Hated it, although I kinda pegged that something was going to happen with both her and Scias a while ago (Scias I automatically assumed was gonna be a backstabber the moment I saw him).
Also, uhhh, spoilers I guess for people who don't wanna be spoiled in a spoiler topic (highlight to read):
I also knew that they just had to have something in relation with the Iska Tribe, although I wasn't expecting Tia to be the eldress.

You do realize that if you leave the mouse cursor over any of the page numbers of this topic on the topic list, you can STILL see the first part of the message about Tia being evil? :P

I'm unlike a lot of people. I just flat-out don't mind a majority of spoilers.
It makes me glad to see what happens.
