Hello! I'm new here and I was wondering if anyone out there will be attending the upcoming "More Friends" Final Fantasy Concert. I attended the first one last year and got my FF VI OST signed by Uematsu in person. That has become a great moment in my life . I'm happy to have the chance to attend this new concert on May 16th, because the great opera scene from FF VI (my favorite FF) is scheduled to be performed. I have worked like a dog to save for it. If anyone reading this plans to attend, post your reply and perhaps we could meet. Keith

Hey, thanks for responding! I bought my ticket with the link at the Square-Enix site over a month ago. The concert is to be held at the Universal Ampitheatre in LA. I heard they changed the name to the Gibson ampitheatre, I don't know if it's true yet. Emiko Shiratori and Rikk, as well as the Black Mages are supposed to be there. For more info check out www.cocoebiz.comLater, Keith I am praying they play Dancing Mad, but that may be too much to ask for. Then I could die happy.

I forgot to mention, my ticket was $55.00 and it gets much more expensive the closer you get to the stage, like $120.00. Ouch!!!

Wow, I was thinking about starting this thread myself. I live in Burbank, so it's only about a 15-30 minute drive for me. Unfortunately, since it's May 16, I don't think I can go. It falls on a Monday and I have things to do the next day. I SO wanna go to the concert cuz I don't think this is ever going to happen again. I had the ticket ready to order, all I had to do was click and pay(For the Front Row too!), but I knew I couldn't, you know how frustrating that is? I know Uematsu is going to have another concert again in June or July in San Diego, but I doubt it will be as big as this one. I hope he holds another concert exactly like this sometime in the near future . I wanted to hear the Black Mages perform. I have the LE Edition FFVIII Soundtrack, dammit, I could've gotten that signed, that would be worth SOME dough. Plus, I could've met him in person, that would've been nice. Oh, and yea, it's the Gibson ampitheatre now.

Well, i think this expresses my opinion farely well: Synth Rock >>> Orchastrated Music there are a few odd songs i like from FF OSTs, here and there... most are in FFVI, some are in FFVIII (man with the machine gun, Liberi Fateli)... but everything else puts me to sleep.. (blue fields from FFVIII, One Winged Angel). FF to me is like, the total opposite of Ys... music encluded. Just cant realy like it. wish there were an Ys concert....

Thanks for confirming the name change of the concert location. I'm flying all the way from Georgia just for the concert. Last year I got to shop at all the awesome anime shops in downtown LA, I even stayed in the Japanese hotel The New Otani. I can't do that this year, but I will post a review of the concert when I return with all the details. If anyone is attending, don't hesitate to post.

I just got in today from the More Friends: Music From Final Fantasy Concert. Oh man, it was beyond amazing. I loved The Black Mages before, but seeing them perform is quite a sight! Wow! Once again, James Arnold Taylor, the voice of Tidus in FF X and X-2 was the MC, and Arnie Roth conducted. The show started about 8:20 pm and closed around 10:25/10:30. Here is the set list: 1. Bombing Mission: FF VII opening. Very cool, I hadn't heard this orchestrated before. I thought it was a great start to set off a concert of this magnitude. The huge monitors showed the familiar scene with Aeris carrying the flowers as the piece started. 2. Aeris' theme. FF VII. Not much different from last years performance, or the one on the 20020220 cd. 3. Zanarkand: FF X Perfect piece to lighten the mood after the first two songs. 4. Don't be afraid: FF VIII battle music. In my opinion, FF VIII had great battle music, and I always loved this piece. Another one to liven things up. No difference in previous arrangements though. 5. Terra's theme: FFVI. Even though I heard this one at last year's show, this particular performance seemed more vibrant and spiced up. The monitors showed the FMV with Terra from the PS version of the game. At that moment the show had an intermission, and Mr. Tidus remarked that the next half of the show would be completely different. It was not a sellout show, but the amphitheatre was still packed. 6. Swing de Chocobo: From FF X, but newly arranged by Arnie Roth. I thought he really brought something new to it, the fans knew it, too. Very cool, even if you don't like this piece, you would have to appreciate the effort put into it. The Monitors showed scenes from FF II up to XI, with chocobos. I was happy they showed the NES FF II & III. Everyone laughed as the chocobos wiggled around on the screens. When they showed CLoud from FF VII riding a chocobo, there was an uproar of applause from the fans. 7. Final Fantasy main theme: This was awesome, I've heard it before, but it's always had an addictive melody to me. Now things really picked up. 8. THE BLACK MAGES! The made quite an entrance, with a stage background that included cool corlored swirls that kind of looked like something from the 60's. The monitors showed the Black Mages logo flashing and in flames. THEY ROCKED HARD, and everyone went nuts. They played the FF III battle theme from their second cd. Lead guitarist Michio Okamiya had quite a stage presence. Imagine everything you can about how a rock star acts on stage and you'll get the picture. Nobuo himself joined them and was plugging away on his keyboard. From the response, it would not surprise me if next year or sooner the Black Mages have a full concert in the U.S. 9. Maybe I'm a lion: Once again, The Black Mages ripped right into this one. It was so cool, they really worked the stage in their first overseas performance. I wished for more BM, but more on that later. 10. SUTEKI DA NE: (Isn't it wondereful) FFX. RIKKI came on stage, and the softness in which she sang really had an effect on me. She looked a lot smaller than I had pictured. She was wearing an outfit very similar to Yuna's in FF X. It was awesome to see her perform this live, in Japanese as well. I won't forget it. The monitors showed the underwater scene with Tidus and Yuna from FF X. 11. Melodies of Life: FF IX Emiko Shiratori was extremely graceful in her approach to the stage. She sang in Japanese, with a couple of verses in English. Seeing these two ladies perform was something special. I may never experience it again, which is why I went to LA only for this event. I arrived 8 hrs. before it started, and left two hrs. after it ended. Both plane rides were a tough 4 hrs. each to and from Atlanta, but I think it was worth it. I simply could not get any more time off work. 12. The complete Maria & Draco from FF VI: The reason I came to this show, I had longed to one day see this performed, being a longtime fan of FF VI. It was flawless. Stephanie Woodling (mezzo-soprano), Chad Berlinghieri (tenor), and Todd Robinson (bass-baritone) performed this. It was all so perfect, and the walz part was way better than the one on the Nintendo Orchestral Game Concert 4 cd. And it was in English. Nobuo came on stage for a while and made some remarks through translation about how grateful he was to be able to bring such a show to life. Then, after a lot of suspense, and laughs, an encore. 13. One Winged Angel: FF VII. THIS WAS INCREDIBLE. What an end to a concert! The BLack Mages, together with the CSUF University Singers choir, and the World Festival Symphony Orchestra brought the house down with this one. This was Sephiroth battle music the way it was meant to be. New additional lyrics were added and the Black Mages turned it into a fast paced rock megamasterpiece. The crowd went insane over this. Soon after everyone took their bows, and the night was complete. I had to hightale it back to the airport. Merchandise included T-shirts, two compilation cds, based on this concert and the Dear Friends shows. A poster signed by the Black Mages, and program books. VERY EXPENSIVE. They had FF VII Advent Children merchandise on display, but not for sale. No cameras were allowed, not even inside the theatre. I took pictures of the outside, and some signs that advertised the show, but I had to turn my camera in. This was worth every penny in my book, and if they do it again next year, I'll be there.

I'm happy people are reading my review. Yeah, I did know about the upcoming Atl. shows, and couldn't resist buying a ticket for both of them. I'm gonna go bankrupt soon! Thanks for your posts!!!! As far as I know, the other concerts are Dear Friends shows, but I don't know anything else about them. I'm hoping they have added something to the shows from the familiar 20020220 cd song selection. Later, Keith

Hello DaInFaMuZ1, I'm attending both Atlanta FF concerts on June 24th and 25th. I'll see to it you get merchandise from those, ok? After all, when this tour is finished, who knows if and when Uematsu will tour again at such frequency? Later

Hey man, that's cool . Just let me know when and what kind of neat stuff they have. I was sorta lookin' to get any CD's they had for sale. BTW, the cd's you mentioned for sale at the "More Friends" concert, what were they and around what price? I don't want to go all crazy over merchandise, but a few things would be cool =P.

Hey, ok, the T-shirt will be $25.00. I'm assuming it will be in white or grey with the FF Dear Friends logo and possibly the date of the concert. Cds are $20.00. Program books are $20.00 as well. The cds at the more friends concert were: 1. a dear friends cd. (this is not a concert cd, but it contains the original game music of the pieces played at the dear friends concert). I would expect this to be at the show in June. 2. A more friends cd. Same thing as the above cd, but with the original game music from the songs that were performed live at the more friends show. The cds do not have any liner notes, but I recommend the program book, it has nice art and info in it. any more questions, feel free to post. There may be posters, possibly pre-signed by the black mages. Or there may be calendars,

Hmmmm....the music cd's would be available on the FF OST's then? In that case, I wouldn't have a need for them, what I'm looking forward to hopefully is a live concert CD w/ the Black Mages, that'd be neat. JUST NO LYRICS. I remember listening to the Overworld track on the Black Mages CD, they intro with the FFX intro song, then start out with some kickin' guitar, then the guy opens his mouth and that KILLED the song for me, I was thinkin', wtf?!?! The main reason I ever liked VGM was because most of it was instrumental ^_^. Enough of that, just thought I'd throw that out there LOL. Poster's would be neat, but I'm picky when it comes to that, haha. Signed posters would be neat, did they have some cool keychains, chains, necklaces, somethin' shiny and cool looking I can hang or wear? ROFL. Ex: Check my other thread about Bleach anime, that's the kind of stuff I'd be interested in, THAT is my style. seldane.proboards23.com/index.cgi?board=anime&action=display&thread=1115599069Heh heh heh......
