Theres been info and screenshots on this spewing out from Japan for months now... I used to see updates on it over at jeuxfrance.com every day. Theres also info over at the-magicbox.com From what ive read, its a remake of Xenosaga 1 and 2 for PS2 but with an SD style to fit the DS, as well as making use of DS's functions. I dont know much about the similarities between the originals and the DS versions, but basically they have the same story. Also, theres a new additional story for the DS Xenosaga that fits in with the games timeline, something like that. I read up on a ton of games, mostly ones I have little interest in... I just like to gain as much knowledge about the currents in the industry as much as possible. So, this is one of those games that I have little interest in sorry i cant give you more info, but trust me when I say there is a lot more our there. Those nintendo dream scans were only the beggining (seriously, that was the first info released on the game).

Thanks, I just found out about it when I bought the magazine, which was a few months old. Had to get that Mario CD. I never search for games too much so this one caught me off guard.

Yep, it's a DS remake of two of the PS2s worst RPGs ever! Woo, lucky for us DS owners, huh??

I was a little upset Mr, Mitsuda wasn't on board for the second one.

lol... i guess Xenogears would have been nicer? (if thats what you had ment) I wouldnt know cuz I havent played any Xeno games before. but it IS a remake... so who knows maybe it'll surprise everyone and end up better than the PS2 games? Its possible if the gameplay was a problem with the first one, but if it was the story then i guess it cant be helped. Ive heard at my college that Xenosaga is basicaly a somewhat interactive 100 hour cinematic... lol (if thats the case, then I have no idea how the DS version will be good). Anyways, i'd say DS fans are lucky as it is. Especialy for RPG fans since it's getting so many top-notch RPG names in original forms, and a larger quantity of them than the PSP is. On top of that, DS is getting an original Ys game (I know its not what most would have in mind, but you have to admit, atleast its original; something new and not a port). I dont care for Final Fantasy, but it's also giving DS support with a 3D remake of an old 2D FF classic. Hopefully they wont all go the way Lunar did on DS >_> (i havent played it personaly, but ive read that it didnt go so well...)

Nah, Xenogears wouldn't have been much better... You won't find a more pretentious and nonsensical RPG series (in the West, anyway) than the Xeno-Trifecta!
I'm not disappointed that XenoSaga I&II DS is a port of 2 crappy PS2 games, so much, but I AM disappointed that XenoSaga I&II DS look like crummy, first gen SNES games!
The DS is capable of MUCH more.

I was a little upset Mr, Mitsuda wasn't on board for the second one. Yeah, but Yuki Kajiura isn't exactly someone one could call "bad" either. I heard Xeno III had a run on cell phone too.

I'll bet the soundtrack to Xenosaga two is awesome as well. I haven't played it yet, but I LOVE the first one. For the most part, sometimes I just wish it was a perfect world where Nobuo Uematsu composed every FF game and Yasunori Mitsuda was on board for the whole Xenosaga series. Anyway, I really like what I've heard of Hitoshi Sakimoto's FF XII score too! As Wyrdwad said, I too love the look of the DS version, That look is my favorite for RPGs. I'll definitely pick this one up, because I have to get a DS for FF III.

Yeah, I'm definitely a big FF III fan, and I have the Famicom cart/soundtrack. That's the one FF I haven't finished beside X-2 and XI. I wonder how the music for this Xenosaga will come out. Kos-Mos is also one of my favorite characters. I like anyone who has a lot of insane weaponry.

No, sadly, the music in XenoSaga II in no way matched Mitsuda's brilliance from XSI. It did have nice cutscene music, but the in-game stuff was throw-away fluff. I listen to the XG and XSI OST all the time, and never touch XSII's.

A little upsetting to hear that about the Xenosaga II music. I'm still gonna get it anyway to hear it for myself. I am really looking forward to how the music sounds in this DS version. Mitsuda composed some downright frightening stuff for the first game.

XSI Battle Music was freakin' amazing. And this from Mitsuda, who isn't exactly known for is rocking battle themes, IMHO. The DS is capable of some good stuff, I just hope that it doesn't follow the path of the visuals and get a total early-gen SNES treatment.

I dig retro too. But if they wanted to create an RPG that looks and sounds like an early SNES game, then do it on the GBA where it makes more sense and you have a mostly unrivaled potential userbase, not on an up-and-coming system that's a lot more powerful and is looking to distinguish itself.
The GBA game would even be playable on the DS, anyway.

Japanese Box Art from Play-Asia: Release date for Japan: March 27th. Maybe it will be translated into English. Why not, the other Xenosagas were.
