I've finished at least one port/variation of every Ys game EXCEPT:
Ys Origin Ys Strategy Ys: Memories of Celceta
I own Celceta and Origin (Hong Kong version), just haven't gotten around to playing them. I have yet to find a copy of Ys Strategy.

I have yet to find a copy of Ys Strategy. Ys Strategy is a non-canonical game, as far as I know the red-haired guy is not Adol, and it's not even an RPG game but a real-time strategy. You don't have to play it!

None of the Ys IV games are canon neither (i.e. not developed by Falcom themselves) , and Ys Strategy is still an RPG game, just not Action-RPG Red-heared dude's name is "Abel Renford", and there's also a wall-crusher called "Zagi"

It doesn't have any connection with any other Ys game. And allow me to correct you about Ys IV's, only the "Dawn of Ys" is a non-canonical the other two "Mask of the Sun(SNES)" and "MoS a new theory"(PS2) are replaced by "Memories of Celceta". Also all this game have Adol as protagonist, not Abel Renford

Ys I - TCD, Complete, Chronicles (PSP) (I feel like I also beat the Master System or NES version, too.. but don't remember) Ys II - TCD, Complete Ys III - SNES, Genesis OiF - PC, PSP Ys IV - SNES, TCD Ys VI - PS2, PC Ys Origin - PC Ys Seven - PSP (Japanese & English versions, if that counts)
Ys III SNES or Oath in Felghana has the most replays. The SNES one I'd just replay over a weekend to hear the music back before I really knew what an Ys was. Oath in Felghana I finished on every diffculty on PC when it was first translated, then on PSP, and... then I kinda got burnt out getting the achievements on the Steam version.

I've played these: Ys Origin (PC) Ys Ancient Ys Vanished - Omen (PC88) Ys II Ancient Ys vanished - The Final Chapter (PC88) Ys I & II Complete (PC) Ys I & II Chronicles (PSP / PC) Ys I & II Chronicles Plus (PC) Ys I & II Eternal Story (PS2) Ys Books I & II (NDS) Ys III Wanderers from Ys (PC88) Ys III Wanderers from Ys (PS2 / SNES) Ys The Oath in Felghana (PC / PSP) Ys IV The Dawn of Ys (PCE) Ys IV Mask of the Sun (SNES) Ys IV Mask of the Sun - A New Theory (PS2) Ys Memories of Celceta (PSV) Ys The Ark of Napishtim (PC / PS2 / PSP) Ys Seven (PSP) Currently playing: Ys Seven (If memory reserves this is my 7th (seventh) take on the game, coincidence?!) Ys Memories of Celceta (2nd Playthrough, on hold ) As much as I love the Ys Franchise, there is 1 (one) game that I don't ever want to play again: Ys Strategy (NDS) *If the version area ( ) has multiple platforms, that means I've played the game in all of those platforms And yeah, I haven't played Ys V yet xD,. I'm planning to play it after my playthrough (again) on "Ys Seven" The game's that I enjoyed re-playing is "Ys I & II Chronicles / Plus", "Ys Seven", and "Ys The Oath in Felghana" I loved the soundtracks of "Ys I & II Chronicles / Plus", "Ys Memories of Celceta", "Ys Origin", and "Ys Seven" As far as my addiction is concerned I've bought a PS Vita just for "Ys Memories of Celceta" xD, which is damn crazy This may be out of topic but playing "Nayuta no Kiseki" is a pretty good and nice experience , I loved it xD

Despite the fact that I started playing Ys games since one year and a half ago, I haven't finished that many games:
Finished games:
Ys I & II Chronicles (PSP) Ys: Oath in Felghana (PSP) Ys Seven (PSP) Ys Ark of Napishtim (PC) Ys Origin (PC) Ys III: Wanderers of Ys (SNES)
Currently playing: Ys IV: Dawn of Ys.
So...yeah...no many games...mainly because I don't possess the means to play other games. I barely got to work Dawn of Ys, so...you have an idea.
P.S. Is there a thread of "Your favorite Ys games"? Because I can't find it. In the case that there isn't one, I will create it.

In chronological order: Ys: Origin (PC) Ys I&II Complete (PC) Ys: The Oath in Felghana (PC) Ys VI: The Ark of Napishtim (PC) Ys SEVEN Ys I&II Chronicles (PC) (the bad port based off the PSP version) Ys I&II Chronicles+ (PC) Ys V (SNES, regular version thanks to translation patch)
Me and a friend bought Celceta on the last sale to play in his Vita but it turns out his left analog stick is broken and we haven't found any places that can get replacements to fix it.

Just finished playing each of the Ys games. Fell in love with this series after playing Felghana and havne't looked back. Here's my order of play.
1) Oath in Felghana (Steam) 2) Ys III (Turbo-CD) 3) Ys I & II Chronicles+ (Steam) 4) Ys I (not II) (Turbo-CD) 5) Ys Origin (Steam) 6) Ys VI (Steam) 7) Ys Seven (PSP) 8) Ys Memories of Celceta (Vita - or more specifically the PSTV. Only reason I picked up that stupid machine) 9) Ys IV Dawn of Ys (PC Engine CD) (fan translation. great work btw) 10) Ys IV Mask of the Sun (Super Famicom) (fan translation) 11) Ys V Kefin; Lost City of Sand (Super Famicom) (fan translation)
Each game is great in its own way. If I had to pick a favorite, it would have to be my first love; Felghana. The music, the style, it just scratched that sweet spot. The single character, jumpy/slashy style native to Felghana, 6, and Origin is I think my favorite play style for Ys games. Although I grew addicted to the bump system as well. The multiple character system was tough to get used to, but those games are just so god I ended up enjoying them thoroughly. Here's hoping Ys 8 is a great success, and that Falcom continues to deliver excellent Ys games. Props to XSEED and Steam for expanding my horizons. I would not have known about this series had it not been for the Steam release of Felghana. I hope they can eventually get around to re-releasing 5, and that more PC adaptations are developed. I'd love to have each game in one spot.
