Boss design in Dawn of Ys has been pretty cool so far. Each fight is unique and has some sorta pattern that makes it a nice step up from Ys I & II while Mask of the Sun's bosses were all pretty bland. The sprites are all still too small for my liking. Especially with all the voice acting. It's strange to me to hear a lot of the voices coming out of tiny, featureless sprites. See, that's one of the reasons I actually don't like Ys II, because the pattern of most of the boss fights is mostly 'throw fireballs until they die'. I have a laundry list of reasons why II is my least favorite by a country mile but this is at the top of the pile Currently about 6 hours into Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey, and I love love love it. It might be my favorite 1st person dungeon crawler ever if I stay this absorbed by it. It's like playing Etrian Odyssey with MegaTen's cool demon fusing system. Also when I'm realllly bored I'm playing the Final Fantasy I port for Blackberry. It's pretty awful as far as ports go but hey it's Final Fantasy on my phone. Any other BB owners out there know of games to check out for it?

Now that I got my Wii hacked, I'm trying out lots of different Wiiware titles I never had the money for before. The bit.trip series is awesome, and Castlevania Rebirth is really good too. Right now though, I'm playing Cave Story. Seems great so far. I never listened to the original music, so I'm playing with the remixed music right now, and it sounds great. If I get an undesirable ending, I might use the original music for another playthrough just to check it out.

Really? How annoying, especially since I like the new music better from what I've heard.

Yeah, I'm European (I feel like I say this really often), but it isn't out here yet. Well, I suppose I should wait for it to be released here, then.

Out Zone. Trying. Not really.
Felghana. Thought about playing original Ys III, decided it was a bad idea. Will probably just move on to IV right after, then VI. As the situation is now, no further plans on the Ys front except a second opinion on Complete (Hard mode), and possibly Ys DS.
Might take a look at Gyakuten again.

You'll have to forgive me for asking - I have a very short-term memory about people, especially online, and I don't think your country (or continent) of origin has ever really come up... not as anything more than an aside, anyway. So yeah... sorry! -Tom Oh, that wasn't aimed at you in particular, it just seems to come up a lot lately. Anyway, DAMN bit.trip.beat just upped the difficulty on me. The first level was nice and easy and I just got lost in the beat and graphics, but then the second level tested my reflexes to the point where I began sweating (in my defense it's quite humid over here >__>). I beat it after some tries, but then I died almost right away on the third stage...

DJMax Trilogy.
I might stop in a few days since I've unlocked all the songs from the recent patch (which was the reason I picked up the game again).
HOWEVER! It seems as though I'm unlocking more and more notes and avatars and such through playcount now. >:(
Stupid grindfests.
Oh hey, I still have that Just Cause 2 to finish. Still need to complete 3 story missions. Blargh.

Lost Planet 2 - It isn't as bad as everyone is saying.
Fallout - Finally figured out how to equip weapons and such (never played any kind of PC game before, accept for Ys Origin and OiF) and ended up getting killed by a raider cause i apparently made him mad.

Well, I finally got back to playing Ys Book I & II again. Mostly cause I got my friend to play it earlier, lol.

Playing Legend of Xanadu for TCD. I'll never complain again about how much running around and backtracking is in Ys games...
Also didn't know that the Japanese Wii Virtual Console got both of the Legend of Xanadu games already. Their VC is so much better than ours...

How are you liking the music? It's one of those love/hate OSTs, and I'm very much on the love side.

AQUIA.
Ironically, I somehow managed to complete level 9 of the 2 vertical blocks before completing level 8. Even more ironic is when I try to do level 8, I keep failing to finish it. :P
I think my success in level 9 was a total fluke!
I think I'll do a recording of myself playing the 4 block square one just to show how bloody slow I am at it because my brain and eyes are stupid and can only see/compute the really obvious solutions.

Played some more goddamn Squishy Tank to torture myself. (Random tidbit: I wrote a review of the game on Amazon.com.)
Actually, I like Quest Mode quite a bit so I'm doing those ones~! Unlocking goofy stuff for the tank is fun!
I just wish I didn't suck at those "Clear at least x-number of blocks of one colour over the other." UGH. But still, I've passed over 12 challenges already (but not in numeric order). :B

Sure enough I failed to resist the urge to acquire Xenoblade before my copy turns up in the post, so I am playing that.
I can't blame myself really, because the game is awesome. The word 'vast' doesn't quite cover the size of the area maps, I was really surprised by just how big they are when you're walking around. So many quests to do, so much to explore, the game really seems like one that will reward you for taking your time and just enjoying yourself. Which is exactly what I intend to do. The vast majority of enemies aren't aggressive either and will just leave you be.
The developers deserve mention for the amount of frustration reducing features they've put into the game to. There's a full day and night system, but you can move the clock forward or backward instead of waiting around for an event NPC to wake up. Saving can be done anywhere, whenever you want, and you can teleport between landmarks freely. Also if you die in battle you go back to the last landmark you passed rather than getting a game over.
Combat's fun, with some unique features. Most of the time it plays out similarly to FF12 in that regular attacks are done automatically, leaving you to move around and choose when and from what position (attacks have a position they're best from) to use your specials. Unless you're massively overlevelled the game in no way 'plays itself' though, and for people who want a challenge there's always high level enemies floating around for you to have a go at. There's a few other cool features in battle too like chain attacks and, more notably, Visions. The main character's sword, Monado, has the power to show the future, basically. When a member of your party is about to be hit by a lethal attack the game shows you a 'vision' of what will happen if they get hit by that attack. This then gives you a chance to activate the sword and counter that attack (although Monado needs time to charge, so you can't abuse this). You succeed and they live, you fail and, naturally, they die. It's very useful for getting out of a pinch or more notably a massively powerful instant death attack from a boss, but really isn't broken at all because of the charge time and a few other factors. The Vision system has a few uses out of battle too, in particular in quests. After a certain point in the game you'll even get Visions when picking up items, which tell you you'll need a set number of that item for a quest and put an exclamation mark over that item's icon in your menu so you don't accidentally sell it.
Also, the music is AWESOME. This is one of the best, if not the best, OSTs of the year and has the potential to be one of my all time favourites if it keeps up the quality. Amazing stuff, and this is one soundtrack I'm very likely to buy.
So yeah, if any of that sounds appealing to you, look out for this one. I love it.
