I remember when you had to use an actual lamp for your handhelds... What a nightmare, I honestly don't think I could ever go back to that.

I probably could, lamps are everywhere, all up in this bitch house.
I want a NGPC! Again!
I used to say that every single day. "I want a Neo-geo Pocket Colour" to remind myself. )': I need to get one, to win at my goal!

Ahhh I really wish I could play the first two games, even though there was a pretty decent story recap of both the games in Yakuza 3. Well, I'm really enjoying the first one, although I can tell the combat gets much better in the second, and third. It's still REALLY good though. Damn Majima...

Honestly, it's amazing to consider how used we've gotten to backlit handhelds. It dawned on me when I realized that I couldn't have taken the NeoGeo with me camping early in June how absolutely lame that would have been when I couldn't fall asleep 'til midnight.
Craziness~

I was kind of worried about that too, and felt a little guilty about commenting on any of the XSeed E3 videos that were posted here. :'D I'm glad that they have a slightly more lenient policy there than your previous employers, though. Between that, the messages I've read via their Twitter and Facebook accounts, and the love they put into the games they localise, I think XSeed seem like a really friendly, down to earth kind of company. I think you've found a good home~ Good luck with the impending showdown with Galvaran. I can't say I envy you. ^_~

Pulled out a PS1 game: Legend of Dragoon and giving that a go-through. I had received a bunch of demo collection discs a couple months ago and that was one of the few games that stood out in it. Since I already had it for like 7 years or so, I finally pulled it out and gave it a play. Almost through Disc 1 so far. ^^

My brother really likes Legend of Dragoon, I hear not many other people do though? It has some pretty cool tunes He can never get the wind guy's combos down... Hahaha, even after multiple replays.

All I know about Legend of Dragoon is that it has a timed button-press combat system, a plot that heavily rips off FF7, and a really kickass vocal theme song at the end. -Tom Really? Phew, I was afraid I'd have to add another game to my backlog for a second there. More on topic, I'm playing Der Langrisser, Terranigma and Ex-Hard Mode Yakuza 3.

I think LoD is a pretty good game from what I've experienced--I've never beaten it, but I've played various parts of it, and I really like the battle system and music.
Currently playing Parasite Eve for the first time in uh... 8 years, I think? I never realized how hilarious some of the game is, like the dialogue. "I'm getting... HOT!!" is said at least 50 times in the first 5 hours alone. But it's still pretty damn fun. I could have sworn it was longer, since I've already passed the last place I remembered vividly in 4 hours. Battle system is a bit frustrating at times due to the severely cramped fields, but it's extremely unique, and very enjoyable. I'd complain that it's too easy sometimes, but then I got to the giant spider boss and started wishing there was a goddamn retry option. I had to go through 10 minutes of shit every time I lost, and the battle has two parts plus a tricky escape segment at the end that took me 3 tries to figure out!
Oh, and it's still pretty damn disturbing. The CG work may not be technically impressive, but the scenes themselves are often nightmare fuel.
I think the only way to describe it is as a more sci-fi Resident Evil sans zombies as a JRPG. Also, the battle system is basically an ATB shmup. It's surprisingly great, and I've never seen anything else like it.
First ten minutes and it's already pretty disturbing, whoa.
And I can't go without linking this:
Gross.
EDIT: Forgot to mention; I really like the plot. So much so, in fact, that I plan on grabbing the book sometime.

I'm happy for you, FF7, and I'mma let you finish, but The Legend of Dragoon is the best PS1 RPG of all time. Of all time.
Been playing Metal Gear Solid 3. Just beat The Pain. BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES!

Ugh... The 3rd Birthday looks like it's going to be worse than 2. And 2 was a lot worse than 1. So yeah.
But I guess we'll have to see if Squeenix somehow manages to not pull another Dirge of Cerberus and shit on our hopes.

I've only played the second one, but I remember it being pretty good although frustratingly hard. Then again, I was young and sucky back then.

Since I suck at the game, I stopped just after the cutscene with The End(decided not to snipe him). I seriously don't get this next part. Do I screw the stealth and just kill the guys or what?

I didn't know you *could* snipe him! I tried but I didn't see him there after the cutscene was finished. As for helping you out, I'm in the same place. Trying to do ANY stealth at that point almost seems fruitless, so I just messed around a bit. I located goggles, took a few hostages "SPEAK! ...the codec frequency is 142.41" but I never succeeded in making that frequency work -- I was always shot, or accidentally let go of the hostage, or the hostage kept breaking free from my grip. Oh, you're probably wondering what happened -- Snake died. I LOVE seeing where Otacon started, though it's all NS' fault! Bastard Snake... XD

I'm a little further than that, about another cutscene over. Wow we must all be connected by telepathy! I am at that fight in a playthrough I'm doing right now of MGS3. It's hard to get back into, I'm spoiled by the controls of Peace Walker. I miss crouch-walking . I'm so glad you can just choke people out in this game by tapping the button though, it takes forever to KO somebody without throwing them in PW Also, I'm running through the PSP version of Ys VI again, now that I have a 3000. The UMD caching really does help; it takes about the normal time to load an area the first time you go into it when you load the game up, but when you backtrack through it the loading is 2 seconds tops, which isn't bad at all. Rehdan Village and Port Rimorge take a bit longer but they're pretty huge areas for just one screen so that's okay

Don't you have the lab coat camo at that point? I thought I remember it working there... I may be thinking of a different part though I seriously haven't taken MGS3 out of its case in almost 2 years
