I have no idea. I never bought any and I never used the ones I found. I never use magic in games anyway.

I got a question.. What do those picinic baskets do? do they just give you health, or is there more to them. U would think if they just upped your health, then you would be able to sell them... but you cant.
Oh yea... And is there any trick to beating that Big Eye boss, after you walk underwater from the shore?

The more picnic baskets you get, the more "efficient" they are. The first gives you 100HP, the next 200HP the third 300HP, etc etc etc. The last ones are really good. I think you can get up to 1400HP.
That's all they're for, though.

Gamepad support? I might have to get this game now. I really dug the videos of the game that you generously made available for download.

Bump!
So, I'm in the sewers. I've read a room that has three exits - one is blocked by a gate, and the other two lead to spital staircase rooms. However, in both cases, there are rocks blocking the door. Additionally, there seems to be a sparkling bridge at an earlier point in the dungeon that I can't cross yet.
Help?

And you are right, there's no point in buying more than one of the same level of a spell as it doesn't help. I also didn't use much magic in this game. There's no point in buying Spell Books, but if you find one it can be helpful. Using it will replenish your SP for THAT spell back up to max. But, even though they can do that, it's better off just to sell them. Wonga = good.

Ok guys, sorry about the double post, but I've just whacked my Xanadu Next guide up on GameFAQs. Thought you guys might be interested XD It's not quite complete... I still need to write up about the last boss, and get some stats for the last half of the extra dungeon... Monsters and items and the like. A few other things too, and I'm still ironing out the maps - one of them is causing problems when transmitting to IE _ Anyway, I'd really appreciate any feedback. Particularly with my translations, many of which are going to be God-awful! Most Katakana translations are there, but there are a few I can't work out. More importantly, a lot of Skill names just sound rubbish. But I've got the uses of all the items, Guardians and Skills in there, something I know a lot of you don't know much about from reading this thread. I know on my next play through, though, that I'll get a lot more out of the game with all the extra stuff I now know about!! Enjoy, and like I say, any feedback would be both super-helpful and really appreciated. Thanks ^_^

I had to copy to notepad when my comp screwed up, and somehow loads of formatting died in the process - including that link >_>
Anyway, link fixed!

You, sir, are God amongst men. This has definitely helped me out quite a bit. Xanadu Next isn't really a *difficult* game but it's easy to overlook a lot of stuff, especially the bonuses by talking to people. Heck, my problem last week was caused by me not realizing there the "spells" tab was and didn't even know I could cast magic. *_*
Thanks!!

lol glad I could help ^_^
Yeah I've finished it twice without using half of the Skills, and my first time I missed loads of stuff. I may not play it again for a while - the playthrough to make the guide was quite extensive >_> - but when I do I'm hoping I'll be able to appreciate a whole lot more in the game.

Hey there everyone. I'm hoping someone can help me out here, I'm right in the middle of Xanadu Next right now (just beat Scoltula) and I'm loving it. But this morning when I loaded my save I'm getting a glitch where all the npc and enemy sprites have dissapeared! I loaded an older save and they're still there, and when I click on the save statue in town they reappear when the menu pops up, I'm hoping that I just accidently hit a button or something because I really don't want to go back to my old save and lose hours of play, this is a great game so any assistance would be really appreciated. Thanks

That sounds extremely odd. Try saving in a different location (you can save in Chloe's room in the tavern) then restart the game and try again.
When you save, use a different save slot as well, just to be sure.

hmm, that didn't help it.. I've gone back to an old save for now, which kinda sucks, but if it can't be helped then it can't be helped this game rocks so I'll tough it out. Any other suggestions are welcome

Sorry to post twice in a row, Thanks for trying Seldane but it was just my own stupidity, I finished Skoltula quickly and saved the other night forgetting that I had gotten the spectacles and saved with them on.. I felt more than a bit silly after re-doing about an hour and a half of the game then realizing what happened. Oh well though, I really love this game, now I'm just getting to evilwurm

I really liked fighting Evilwurm because it felt good to learn his pattern and kill him without using many items after a few tries. I just finished Lorelai tonight and got to the Strangerock castle. Can anyone tell me what level they finished the game at? Sadly I think this is the last dungeon, but I'm getting kinda busy to let all of my time go to Xanadu anyway *this past week has been dominated by the game. This is definitely one of the best Falcom games I've played, really fantastic.

The dungeon you're in is very, VERY long - you've got hours of playtime left!

I'm playing this again as well. I love this game. I leveled down to level 1 once I mastered the bonus points card and super-sped myself back to level 20 in about an hour and a half, the death spell is awesome. Now I'm working on the bonus dungeon.. I wonder if max level is actually possible on this game, unlike the new Ys games.
