Hello. I'm a 27 yr old gamer. I've been a fan of the Ys series ever since I played I-III on Turbo Duo. Just finally got Ys I & II Eternal for PC. Can't wait to finish them. I guess that's it for introduction. Cya around the board.

Did you talk to Feena on the pier in Zeptic Village? or rescue a sleep walking Luta Gemma yet?

Oh come now. I can think of worse ways to go than playing and loving Ys.
But actually, it was in quotes because I stole that line from one of Sega's venerable classics... Altered Beast!
How exactly was it appropriate in this thread? I have no idea. But I do know that yet another 'hey, welcome' just wouldn't cut it. So I quoted Altered Beast's Neff... It could be worse. I could have quoted Zeus...
"Wise fwom your gwave, and wesque my daughter..."

*snicker!* Yes, that's a good one to use... as random, out of the blue quotes go, anyway.
I'd say love of Ys is more like spelling the "doom" of your paycheck or pocketbook, really. ^^;; Expensive habit, no? Am I right??

Not THAT expensive, I think. Hell, I've paid over $200 for some truly rare SNES and PSOne games! And there aren't THAT many Ys games to collect anyway. Not cheap, certainly, but not that bad.

Not that many? There are about 60 Ys games total. If you count all the different versions/releases.

Not that many? There are about 60 Ys games total. If you count all the different versions/releases. Then you have to search the globe like me and track down all the music cds, it never ends. Then you have to keep up with all the new releases, and the cycle starts again. Then all the "new" stuff goes out of print..... Oh man, I'm getting a headache.

Ahh, true, the collector in me works differently, however. I don't need to own EVERY version of a game. Just the BEST one(s). I guess I'm lucky that way. The collecting bug bit me differently.
Though, my tendencies span over countless series and systems, not just Ys. Perhaps that's why.
My goal was to break 1000 videogames before the New Year, and I'm well ahead of myself in that, actually!

Music freak that I am, I tend to collect the soundtracks more than the games themselves.... so yeah. ^^; The Falcom music catalogue is uh... extensive, isn't it? ^^;;;;;

I used to have a rule that I had to play the game in order to buy the soundtrack. Not anymore! Because of that I actually passed up the Ys V Soundtrack at a convention once, because I hadn't yet played it. I came to my senses in time though, and was able to get it brand new from gamemusic.com before they sold out. At least with the music you can own a little piece of the games you can't play. I do think though that once you play the game, the music is even better.

Heehee! At least half of the game soundtracks I own are for games I've never played before. Generally if I like the composer (or composition team) and the majority of their previous work, I'll buy 'blind' on stuff.
I wound up with the Baten Kaitos soundtrack well before getting the game for this very reason. And I'm glad I did. ^.^ It's by far Motoi Sakuraba's best...
And of course, mustn't forget the sundry Falcom soundtracks.... ^^;;;

Sakuraba's Star Ocean 2 & 3 also freaking rock. I think he could make an awesome Ys soundtrack.

Yeah, Baten Kaitos' battle system was actually a lot of fun. WAY more than I expected of it. My only complaint with the game was the rather uhhh.. ^^; inconsistent voice acting. When it was good, it was pretty good--but when it was bad? It was HORRID.... As for Sakuraba... Considering he's a prog-rock style composer with a killer sensibility for synth arrangements? He definitely could score a Ys game. That would be unbelievably cool. ^.^

I forgot to mention Valkyrie Profile, I have listened to that COUNTLESS TIMES. How could I forget that one. It's no surprise the game goes for almost a hundred on ebay consistently.

That one definitely had a great soundtrack too. The arranged album that went with it was also really well done. I never did finish PLAYING that game... ^^; Still have my copy, too. I can't seem to bring myself to sell my games, even if I'll never get the chance to finish or replay them....
