Awesome! Thanks a lot for the info. If I ever get past the point you're stuck at, I'll help. But I did find that letter, but the four guards still won't let me pass. How did you do? Did you just equip the letter or did you use it somehow? I can't figure it out.

you have to turn into a demon with your wand and talk to the gaurds with the letter, than you can pass through. Also when I was exploring the section where lilia was in prison, I found a goddess statue in one of the rooms that teleported me to a maze like area, wasnt too big. At the end were 2 goddess statue's, talked to them and by luck, I found a secret passage behind the goddess statue that led to a treasure chest containing the dreamers stone idol. But thats about it, Im still stuck, dont have a clue what to do...

Well, there isnt much I can do, Im stuck tried almost everything and I know solomon shrine pretty well now with all the hours I spent roaming around. I had a good run, my stats are all maxed out lvl 99, even my money is maxed out, Im guessing the last place I reached was the goddesses hideout which is where I found that idol. If only I understoo the korean language I might have stood a chance, oh well it wasnt a bad game though, actually pretty fun

YES! I beat Ys II Special after playing this game for four days straight, through luck and determination. The last boss Darm looks really cool, far better than any other versions Ive seen in my opinion. The ending is really good too, I enjoyed the artwork slideshow and the two goddesses appear almost n a k e d in one of the slides:)
Okay, incase you get stuck like me FM-77, here's what I did: The bell tower is extremely well hidden in the area where lilia was in prison, I had no idea the bell tower was there, found it by just wandering around. But once you find it, the demon Keith will say a few things in Korean and take off, just like Ys 2 for duo, you run to the top, bell rings 5 times, and dalles kills maria at the bottom and that's that. Now, if you have that brooch i was talking about earlier and that dreaming stone idol, just exit the bell tower and go back to the top, the dreaming stone idol should turn into a bird and fly away and the spell that turned those people into stone in the subterranean canal will be lifted. Maria should be alive at the bottom, she will give you the celilia shield, now teleport to the goddesses hideout, remember where I said that dreaming stone idol was in that hidden cave behind the goddess statue? lilia should be down there now and she will give you the golden necklace needed to progress to the final area, everything from this point on is pretty much exactly like the other versions of Ys 2. Dont forget to visit ramia village again, one of those old guys in the houses will give you a sword or armour, cant remember. That's about everything, go to the beginning of solomon shrine where you fought that boss, equip the golden necklace and touch the goddess statue on the right.
Also, I made a mistake when I said there is a locked door past those grim reaper gaurds that becomes unlocked after you first meet lilia in prison. That locked door is not past those gaurds, its in the right-bottom section of solomon shrine somewhere (that's where you get the brooch that might be needed at the bell tower to break that stone curse) , not past those gaurds. Okay, another interesting note, I found this strange place with about 5 floors that spiral on the way up, its located in the same area as the bell tower, but when I reached the top there was nothing? must be a secret. Be warned that locating the bell tower and goddesses hideout can be tough because solomon shrine is so big and confusing.
Well, thank you FM-77 for helping me find that lava area and dugneon behind the roda tree. This was a good game, it could have been a great game but its not perfect, many glitches, one in the ice ridge that almost prevented me from going any further. But, Im surprised I even beat this game:) anyway thanks for your help

Wow! I'm really impressed that you finished it. Congratulations! It's very likely that you're the first non-Korean person ever to complete this game. Honestly! And you did it so quickly too, you must've really enjoyed this game. Although I played it similiarly - two days straight, and got to the ice ridge where I couldn't get any further and didn't play it for about a year and a half... then I tried it again and got to the Salmon shrine in also about two days playtime. While the game FEELS very long, I guess it kinda isn't. Except for the crazy dungeons, but they are pretty straight forward, and the floors are kinda small, so they aren't that bad after all. Also thanks for the additional help. I haven't tried the game yet but I will do it soon. Maybe tonight.

I beat the game last year and I am not Korean... but it sure took me longer than 4 days :b
There is a Wizard Mantle in a chest hidden behind a pillar in the top room, that repletes MP by equipping it and standing still. You can also teleport to this room after you've been there once.

Cool. I was wondering where you disappeared, hehe. One of the few who had any interest in Ys 2 Special, it seems.

I knew there had to be others before me, I guess I'll be grabbing that Wizard Mantle soon, I also found a Ring of Resurrection in a chest that was out of view while ascending that spiral tower. I took pics of the last boss and the ending scenes, I was going to post them here for everybody to see but I dont know how I can email those pics to you FM-77 incase your curious to see the climax and ending. I know there are a lot of secrets in this game I havent found, I red in earlier posts about this epic secret sword and a hidden room in the canal where you can meet the game designers. This game was good! Im still going to wander around, might find treasures I missed... like that mantle thing

So, I defeated the boss at the end of the 35 level dungeon.... Now what?
Edit: NM for now. I found my way around, and I returned the next-to-last book. Let's see how far I can get before I'm stuck again.

I made mini-maps on how to locate important places in the final area of Solomon Shrine which I refer to as Inner Solomon Shrine The only thing I didn't include was how to find Lilia in prison, but she is not too hard to locate, just search the upper-left section of the shrine. Anyways, for those of you who are having trouble navigating Inner Solomon Shrine: img85.imageshack.us/my.php?image=pathtoinnersolomonshrinrq0.jpgimg85.imageshack.us/my.php?image=pathtobelltowermk0.jpgimg85.imageshack.us/my.php?image=pathtohiddentoweryy6.jpgimg85.imageshack.us/my.php?image=pathtogoddesseshideoutpma4.jpgimg85.imageshack.us/my.php?image=pathtogoddesseshideoutpqh7.jpgI had to split the Path to Goddesses Hideout into two separate files due to resolution problems during upload. Hopefully these directions come in handy, they took awhile to make Well, I think it's time I put Ys II Special to rest, time to move on oh yeah, you need the telepathy magic to get into solomon shrine for the first time, to get the telepathy magic: fight that boss in the mountain zone on the very bottom right of the screen, you'll get the book of Ys which you have to return back to the fifth statue. If you remember from before, you returned the fifth book before but didnt get a wand like you normally do, go back to that same priest statue. Well good luck everybody and make copies of your Ys II Special folders often. You never know when a glitch will destroy your journey.

Man, awesome screenshots. These will be helpful not only to me, but to many people, trust me. Thanks. Dude, your screenshots are awesome! By the way, I was doing a "secret places" guide with screenshots too (places like go through a wall to go to a special area). Your screenshots inspire me to complete it even more. Same goes for the "items" guide I was also trying to make with screenshots. This game has way too many chests and gifts. I wonder why did you pick up a big interest in that game so suddenly, then showing up here? Anyway, you are welcome.

I'm stuck again, and I don't understand these instructions. I have one book left, but I don't know where it goes. I've gone back to the boss after the long talk with Feena, Reah, and Lilia (4-story dungeon). No dice. I've also gone back to the boss at the top of the 35-story dungeon (in the lava area). Still didn't work. The most recent thing to happen has been that I defeated the boss at the 4-story dungeon I mentioned above, then came out to find Lilia on the ground. What next?

It's in the dungeon that was near the thief village which is accessed from the second ice ridge, with the different music (different, but same).

Is the thief village north of the snowy mountain area? Yeah. That's the boss I most recently defeated, IIRC. I think I got time magic from there. Then I came out and Lilia was on the ground. The game took me back to the first village. Now I'm stuck. I only have 4 wands, with 1 book left to return.
Edit: Maybe I'm not ready for that part yet, then. I just don't know what to do next. I guess I just fought the fifth boss, then? And returned the book for the first time? So I go on to the sixth for now? I wish I knew where that was.

I think this is what you have to do: Okay, let's see, talk to everybody in the 2nd village (forest village). You should trigger an event with one of the villagers, now exit the village through the south. Once you exit the village and you're in the forest, head all the way to the top-right and you will come across a statue of a girl and you should be able to proceed past her (the game wouldn't let you before). And you will be in the mountain zone, a 60 floor dungeon is ahead Red Hairdo, Ive been coming to this forum for years, probably around the time it first launched. I just never registered, at one point I tried but for some reason I couldn't. I just came here for info on upcoming Ys games and other info and i knew about Ys II Special long time ago when seldane first revealed it, wanted to play it at the time but it was only available in the downloads area but you had to be a member at the time to download I believe, but I recently found it available for download at Ys hardcore gaming 101, so i downloaded and played like a mad man
