This game does not only need a translation but it also badly needs a bug fix.

Hello GS! It's good to see you again and that you might continue your Ys II Special mapping project. While there hasn't been an official announcement about a Ys II Special translation project, there are current plans to start work on this project and we already have two very talented programmers, BatteryShark and Josejl who are both interested in working on this game at some point. We'll most likely take a look at it and if the project looks feasible, we start taking a closer look at it. Some of us, including Xalphenos and myself also have real DOS machines ready to test the game natively, so the stage is all set. Having a Map available would be very helpful, but even more helpful might be a list of common bugs found in the game or rather the locations/events within the game where these bugs occur frequently. We "might" be able to figure out what is making the game crash in some of these areas, so having a list would be extremely helpful since not everyone's setup is going to be the same. Ultimately, I do think that this project from a hacking standpoint is going to be only a matter of time before it's ready for a text insertion for either English or Japanese. I would prefer for this project to be a dual translation so that both English and Japanese fans can enjoy the game. I think the more complicated scenario is going to be finding a translator who is able to translate Korean to English or Korean to Japanese that is willing to assist with the project. I know of one Korean Ys fan who enjoys this game who has offered to help assist with some of the more complicated scripts such as Korean jokes that one would need to be native in order to understand, but simply asking them to translate everything is a bit too much. Also, one of my co-workers is Korean and has offered to help in a similar fashion, but again isn't going to be able to dedicate a lot of time to it. It would be more of an occasional request type of scenario. -Thomas

Hey SkyeWelse, In your attempted to translate it do you think that you might uncover some secrets we do not know about?

I have played through the game to the end and have found (exept for the room) nothing new. But thanks to cheat engine and my brothers help I will fix/compleat all of the unfinished maps as well as lable what items you get where, So...... thats the best I can do without a translation.

Sweet! I'll bookmark these map additions for later. Thanks for doing them! No idea if this will undergo a translation or not. Problem is we haven't found enough interest from a native Korean speaker who would either be able to translate it to English or Japanese. I would hope that we could find a translator for both an English and Japanese translation ideally! Adding a link here for convenience! vgmaps.com/Atlas/PC/index.htm#Ys-Thomas
