Hi guys I know it was not completed and cancelled, but i found this on ebay it is a Megadrive book that may have some info and possibly even pictures of the game. I have never seen any pictures of it ....how about any of you? has anyone here seen them? for Ys purists' who want to see it all this book may hold some interesting info, i am going to email the person to see if it does. maybe someone here is interested in getting the book and posting the scans? by the way this is more of a general Ys question thread than a for sale thread so hopefully it can stay where it is since I am not selling the book, just trying to find out info on the game. Hehehe, I found this one before I saw this post. I also placed a bid on it.  Should have taken "buy now". Damn it. Edit: I haven't seen any pictures of it. It was only mentioned once (and this is probably it) and I don't think there are any pictures. It was for Mega-CD, by the way. |

give the guy a email and see if he will sell it at the buy it now price, he will probably end the auction for you. you can also retract your bid (once retracted the buy it now will show up again) and rebid. if you get it i hope you can post scans

I have the "Mega-CD Super Music Collection" containing some tracks, including the unreleased Ys IV (Celceta no Jukai, Battle #58, Touge ~ Iseki) and the unreleased Super Brandish (FORTRESS)...AFAIK that's the only material available, and the musics are very similar to PC-Engine ones...

I have a couple of alternate tracks as well, on a demo of Dawn of Ys, I wonder if they were to be used in the Mega CD game.

Odd you should mention that. I checked Falcom's page from 1996 yesterday, and it mentioned both YsIV Mask of the Sun and Super Brandish being licensed by Sega. Very interesting stuff.
A japanese page also mentions Ys IV Mask of the Sun for Mega-CD was cancelled about halfway through.

For anyone that has an email account that can handle several megabytes, I can send the songs to. I know atleast one of the songs is deffinitly different. It's basically another version of Yngwie Malmsteen's song that was used in both Dawn of Ys & Mask of the Sun. I can't remember where it was used in Dawn of Ys, but in the SNES/SFC version of MOTS it was used for the final battle with Eldeel. I think the alt. version I have uses more piano. And I think there's atleast one more song that's slightly different. I'll have to check asap.

Ok, I just checked it. It has 2 redbook audio tracks. 1 is the remake of the final battle song with Darm, used in the cinema of Ys 4, but it doesn't have the talking or sound effects!? The other is the boss song I spoke of, they use piano in places where the newer version used guitar, not to mention I think the drums are done differently! Another wierd thing, is that the first track, the warning track.....is in english. It's kind of odd.

What? What is this you're talking about? Is it from the Mega-CD version? How can you have that? And how can you have the warning track? This sounds like a hoax to me.

perhaps the warning track is just a copy of the warning track from a standard Sega CD game. the dawn of Ys opening sounds like the one from the Ys 4 Collection Cd which I have it has the same tack without the talking in it.i am interested in these tracks let me see if i can get them from you, i would love to hear them.

Not to add any confusion, but this almost sounds a lot like these are the Ys IV preview tracks from FSB '93. However, I don't remember the battle with Darm on that cd. I would really like to hear them as well, if you get time check my profile and e-mail me, I have plenty of room. I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks so much!

It's a not hoax, the first track, for some reason, is the warning track that you'd hear on a Turbo Grafx cd game, then the 2nd is ofcoarse the data, then there's 2 audio tracks. I got a burn of it from someone awhile back. It's just a short demo of the Dawn of Ys, & I think it says at the end, coming soon or something. BTW, Sel, do you have an email address that can recieve decent sized files? I can send them to you too!

Yes, thanks for the tracks, I could swear the Darm one is from the Falcom SC-88 Midi Collection though, and the track times are dead on the same, I have not previously heard the other arrangement, but I did enjoy it.

No problem, yeah, that Darm song is probably on the Ys 4 Perfect Collection Vol 1.....which I don't have. I have rips of Vols 2 & 3, but I know Justus used music from the Perfect Collections for the Dub of Ys 4...which I don't know if it will ever come out  I don't think that other song though is on the Perfect Collections, if it is, I would think it'd be in Vol 3, which like I said, I have a rip wrong. But, I don't have Vol 1, so, it's always possible |

I'm am almost 100% positive that whatever was made for the Mega-CD version, it'll NEVER leak. These things never do (i.e. really old, unreleased games). Especially not unknown stuff like Ys.
