I wouldn't be so sure, Seldane. Afterall, what of this Sonic 2 Beta dump circulating around the internet? There has to be enough room out there for us to at least keep our fingers crossed. If a Megadrive dump is ever leaked, it'll be the next best thing SINCE the S2Beta dump. ^_^ 1. Sonic is a HUGE franchise. Many fans. 2. The Sonic 2 beta leaked a long time ago. 3. It is a Mega Drive game (small size), a Mega-CD dump is a lot bigger, and well. I guess that could affect the possibility. I am sure it will never leak. It seems so unlikely. Besides, it is possible nothing was made. Perhaps there's a source code somewhere, and some graphics perhaps. But maybe the game only was in the planning state when it was cancelled, and that there's no work made on it whatsoever.

It would be nice to play. I hope Konami does something, at least they gave us Ys VI. I supported that one the day it came out by buying the strategy book and the game.

While we're at the whole "spoil the whole secret of the Ysf translation", it's more or less finished.

Wow, this topic sure changed subjects quickly! I'm all for an English translation of the PC version. Heck, I'm about to buy a whole new computer. Might as well get started on the right note! Wherever it is, bring it on! I'll be waiting....

You could sell the patch to us^^
hmm... but yeah someone would distribute them for free so that wouldn't work...
It seems a little late now to port YsF to the PS2 so it would make more sense to port it to PSP.
What won't make sense is for us to buy a console or handheld just for one game.
So probably we wait for it to get released to the U.S.... buy that game no matter what (even if we don't own the console it's made for).... give some sort of "code" to these guys and *poof* the patch is ours!!!
GEEEEEEEEZ That's too much work (but nothing compared to what these guys have done on their side) especially because I already spent a hundred bucks for this game already (not to mention the OST)....
But in conclusion, I guess the ones who actually bought the game (piss off illegal downloaders!!) earn the right for the patch ^^ All that's needed now is to come up with a secure/private method of distribution ^^
EDIT: change the topic title perhaps?

Hehehe. Do you even know what happened to Xeph (the guy who figured out how to hack YsVI/Ysf) - he got in some real problems with Falcom because he was translating YsVI to Korean!
That's why the YsVI PC English patch didn't get released. Well, among some other reasons.

Yes I'm sure it was Falcom. I know Xeph and I've talked to him about this. What happened was that he managed to hack YsVI, and decided to translate the game into Korean. Soon after that, Falcom's legal department sent him a lawsuit. He immediately halted the project of course. So did NightWolve. However, he managed to resolve the problem without getting sued, under these conditions: 1. Never attempt to hack a Falcom product again. 2. Send everything to Falcom, for further investigation. 3. Destroy everything and never mention it again. That's basically what happened. Ys VI for PC was almost completely translated by Deuce by the time this happened, and of course they silenced everything (until now, ). Deuce also translated Ysf, but since we've got the same problem here, it will not see the daylight anytime soon (if ever). Same goes for the Ys VI English translation. The End.

Fact: -YsF is being fantranslated -This news is out maybe way before I saw the Deuce's video and reading about Seldane's tongue slip.
What to expect: -Flaming -Whining -People trying to come up with a solution to get it (especially the ones who spent a hundred bucks for the game)
Problem -Having second thoughts on whether to release it or not to the public while avoiding having conflict with Falcom (or other legality lawsuit stuff) -People who just don't care and just want the patch no matter what
*ehem*
So "they" already made a mistake on telling us about it so they just have to face the consequenses.
I myself am crossing my fingers for you geniuses to release this patch. At the same time I'm keeping myself calm (or calm enough) to accept the worst.

My only opinion on this is that it is rather tiresome.
Things like this can easly tear apart an entire community.
Someone maybe have heard about the prototype of the much sought after Sonic X-Treme för the Saturn. Finally it arrived on eBay and some community did what they could to get hold of the game, then stepped in some "saviour" to make the bid of some £2500 or what it was... but as it turned out he tricked them just to get the prototype to end up in the hands of a serious collector (which of course didn't want to give away an image of the disc, since it is the only one known in existence and spreading an image would for sure lower the value of the disc). All this, apparently because this very person felt mistreated by someone having banned him from the communitys forum. Don't know exactly how all this happened... or if I am retelling the story correctly... but anyways, the point is still the same...
...or the Ace Of Base community (oh dear god, why am telling this... yes, I've been into AoB, shame on me), where the information of some people having listened to over 40 demos in the AoB studio leaked. CD-Quality. Then all hell broke lose. First there was envy of some having had the privielege of listening to the demos, and others not. Secondly there were yearly AoB-Fan-Meetings held, and one year the ones involved had been arranging a party at which some people involved in the AoB camp had played some of the demos, out of pure kindness (although not having thought through the consequences). Of course some people recorded the songs on video cameras, minidiscs and only god knows what. They presented snippets of the demos every now and then in the community... not telling who they were or were the snippets came from. Some people even went back into the AoB studio, after having arranged a meeting with Jonas Bergren) where Jonas himself played some of the demos, and yet again someone recorded what was played... on a hidden minidisc or whatever. Then everything got turned up some notchtes when there were demo CD:s that started appearing on eBay, some got bids up to like £1500, out of reach for the community that hadn't heard the demos... it was a complete mess and eventually it all fell apart where all the lies and depections were revealed and left nothing but really disappointed members of a completely trashed community left.
But what does this have to with the translations?
Nothing, really, more than me being tired of seeing it happen again and again. I just hope that the whole "they do exist, but you are not to have them" deal WON'T (I miswrote it the first time) start making a rift in this community aswell.
Not saying that I think the translations should be released. Just that for certain there will be people who will keep asking for them until the end of time. And simply by revealing that the translations do exist and are more or less finished, the people revealing this have silently agreed to keep having people asking for them. Again and again and again.
