We had one of these before, but it went to h-e-l-l if I remember correctly, and I can't find it either.
BUT!
Too little music is being discussed at Ancient Land of Ys.
Therefore!
This thread gets posted... by FM-77. So that music can be discussed... by Ancient Land of Ys members.
A topic that could be talked about is.....
The recommending, the descibing and the listing of bands and artists we like. And the posting of links leading to samples of the music of the bands or the artists that we like. ETC! After that has been done, the mentioning of how much the music that was being linked to is being disliked (or... even liked?!) can occur.
SO!
The reading ends here, presumably. The posting is starting, instead.

Hm... I think it would be nice if every member uploaded one music in every post they make. =] That would be sweet. (And of course, only upload tunes you think it's good. Therefore, I uploaded this. =] www.sendspace.com/file/8s2mhoIt's "Snowman", a song from the Mother series. This particular remix is found in SSBB.

Snowman is pretty nice. It's played in all three Mother games. The SSBB version is pretty sweet!

For game music fans, I'd like to recommend what I think are the best racing soundtracks of all time: Yuzo Koshiro's soundtracks to the three Wangan Midnight arcade racing games. The first one has a load of cool themes, but it's 2 and 3 that change to a trance style and they really take off! It makes me wish they were in an Ys game. Recently I converted some of the tracks to OGG and used them in YsF. I listen to them constantly, especially while biking to and from work every day. It would be cool to know how some of you like them if you have never heard them.

I just find it pretty neat how we all have such different tastes in music yet we all love Ys tunes! XD
Go go Falcom Sound Team jdk for bringing people together! (Well, okei, Falcom too. :P)
Eh, about the topic~~~ I have a list of tunes prepared but have been too lazy to upload. Guess I'll post the track list when I get home. :B
Random recommendations:
Zwei!! OST. XD And VM Japan too! Out of all the jdk soundtracks, both of them are ones where I like almost half the soundtrack and that's pretty damn rare for me!! Usually, I only like a few tunes here and there. :B
Oh, the Bladestorm: The Hundred Years' War OST (er, not Falcom related. It's a Koei thing) is all right too. I just wish every tune didn't sound the same. XD
WarCraft III and World of WarCraft OSTs are neato too!
OH! OH! The Plunkett and Macleane OST. Never saw the movie but there are lots of good tunes there. *__* I discovered this awesome soundtrack after falling in love with Escape. I then started looking into more works by the composer, Craig Armstrong, but didn't find much else that I liked. :/
Unearthed by E. S. Posthumus. I bought this CD after sampling their tunes. I discovered them after hearing their music used in the Spiderman trailer. :B
The Lion King (Disney movie version). This is BY FAR my favourite Disney soundtrack. All the songs are great and I simply adore all the instrumental tracks. I think I love the entire CD. *_*!
Doctor Who 2005 - 2006 seasons OST. This music is SOOOOO GOOOOOD. *_* Murray Gold is a wonderful composer!
I also like old school Erasure, Pet Shop Boys, Duran Duran, LUNA SEA, L'Arc~en~Ciel, BUCK-TICK, trf, globe, Roxette -- just a lot of the mainstream artists. XD I think I stopped listening to their stuff in the late 90's though so anything before that is good stuff, IMO. :B

How I loved that soundtrack! I'm not a big fan of vocals, but I loved everything about that! Since I pretty much prefer instrumentals to all else, I think game music is pretty much almost all I listen to these days? Er... I think my ultimate favourite actually is Vagrant Story's soundtrack. (meh heh... I'm VERY bad at recommending! Everyone hates what I like! D: )

You know, I barely recall Vagrant Story's music at all.

I only liked about 4 tunes from the Vagrant Story OST -- the OP (wish it was longer), that crazy 11-minute or so track (I only liked like the last 2 minutes of it XD), the mines BGM, and the credits roll.
I find that Sakimoto's stuff is it or miss for me. I loved a lot of his compositions on Radiant Silvergun, and the FFT and FFTA 2 OSTs. (I can't remember FFTA though). But when it came to stuff like Stella Deus, FFXII, and I think even Breath of Fire V, I wasn't too impressed.
I do like his Odin Sphere works though.

Some of FFTA's music is pretty forgettable. Others are extremely catchy.
The White Melodies album has some pretty good version of the songs, although that's not Sakimoto himself doing them.

Earthbound OST - "Smiles and Tears" If any song was perfect to end the game on, it was that one! I also loved the Fourside remix that played during the epilogue.

Actually I really REALLY love all of Hitoshi Sakimoto's (and Masaharu Iwata's) works. X'D Ever since I heard Ogre Battle's soundtrack, I've pretty much loved everything of his! *the biased* The mines' background music and the ending credits are few of my favourites from Vagrant Story but... I actually couldn't stand the 11-minute long crazy one! (If I am thinking of the same song you were talking about, nunuu! [Opening Movie Fight Mix or something like such...? Or was it something something Robot..?]) Stella Deus' soundtrack though is one of the few I haven't heard. Actually I totally forgot about that game's existence until you all mentioned it. (Aaaaand... since it sounded so so familiar, I just ran off to take a look at my collection... When on earth did I buy this game??! Eh..?? I'm discovering stuffs I thought I never had thanks to everyone here?) While I liked quite a few of the songs from FFTA's soundtrack, I really didn't like White Melodies. I think there were only one or two from that which I found bearable! (The last few...?)

I never heard any of the Ogre music before. :/// My first exposure to his stuff was either with Vagrant Story or FFT. Nay, it's track 3 on disc one. Wikipedia has it translated as Graylands Incident Climax. Opening Movie "Fight Mix" isn't very good, IMO. And I can't remember that Dungeon Robot Mix. I sold this OST a while ago and I'm not interested in it enough to download it to listen to again.. ._.~ DAMNATION. Listening to Chrono Cross music and it's sending shivers down my spine. I forgot how much I loved much of disc 1. I sort of regret selling this OST now. :P

I like Stella Deus a lot! Once I heard the theme at a concert, I bought the game and soundtrack immediately.
I have been listening to Jeremy Soule's Guild Wars Special Edition music and Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion and no matter how many times I hear them they are awesome.

Try playing Oblivion. You'll get sick of the soundtrack very soon I'm sure. Damn nice (and BIG) game, but there are far too few tunes in it. It gets very repetitive to hear the same music hour after hour. Morrowind had the same problem, except it had even less tunes!

I think I mistook Stella Deus for some bleh boring game and so stuck it in the 'never to play' pile. X'D I don't think I even read what on earth it was about. I wonder why I even bought it (if I bought it!)? I'm just glad I have it though! But meh..! How I wish I can get my hands on the actual Vagrant Story soundtrack! *wishful thinking!* Ogre Battle's soundtrack was nice. But nothing compared to the awesome-ness of Chrono Cross! (I still love its music though! Extra added nostalgia value!)

BULLLLLLLLARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGH. Here are some of the tracks (and probably the only tracks I like) from the 3-CD soundtrack to Soma Bringer. Music composed by Mitsuda Yasunori who has done a billion gaming soundtracks so if you don't know of his works then BULLLLLLLLARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGH onto you. mihd.net/lrb0q8n (24.9 MBs)
