Hey, I thought I would start a discussion about the upcoming VGM Concert world tour. Some big names are involved, and cocoebiz has some info on it. It is called Play: A video Game Symphony. Three names are reported as being involved so far. Yuzo Koshiro, Nobuo Uematsu, and Yasunori Mitsuda. Mr. Arnie Roth, who conducted the recent Final Fantasy concert U.S. tour, will return as well. If this thing goes to California, chances are Yuzo Koshiro will be there I bet. In fact all three composers would probably be at the premier show, that's why I will be there. This would be a good opportunity to try and get Yuzo to autograph your Ys I & II OSTs if he is there. It can be done, I got Uematsu to sign my FF VI OST at the first U.S. FF concert. A few games have been named as being performed, including Final Fantasy and World of Warcraft. Is it possible some Ys could be snuck into this with Yuzo involved? One can only hope, but I doubt it. The cool thing is that this is a world tour, giving many more fans a chance to see a VGM concert live. Here are a couple links: cocoebiz www.cocoebiz.com/?display=main_news&PHPSESSID=e5924e8f2a54c6956e10844edeb1dd3bofficial site of the concert www.play-symphony.com/

anyone here that lives in north america should realy join the videogameslive board and post as much as you can about how gamers think Ys is the best music ever. Its unbeleivable that they dont include it. Even though most people havent heard it, they should explain what it is to them then play it... im sure anyone would love it having heard it for the first time. ive already posted a lot on it over there, and ive found a few other posters there that agree with adding it to the concert. but then i found out the concert would not be coming to toronto ontario (canada) anymore, so i lost interest *sigh* wouldnt it be the most awesome thing ever to see JDK preform live?

Ah, hearing an actual video game concert taking recent place and having a fellow spammer attend and tell us the gist of it brings tears to my heart. I wonder what the "many others" are; it better not be a substitute for music as plentiful as Kidou Senshi Z Gundam: Hot Scramble. Those players better like the songs that they're playing, and if they don't, I'll have a surprise waiting...

wow, finaly, one coming to my hometown (well, in that area, i live outside toronto but i go there practically every day for college). Im surprised no one at my college has mentioned it yet, nor are there any indications... i mean, it's a college with a dedicated video game development program! AND The Hummingbird Centre is literaly in the building's back yard... (i see it every day)
Ive heard about Play! for a long time now, its being done after the success of Square-Enix's "Dear Friends..." Anyways, im not gonna go... probably because, naturally, they wont be playing anything I want to hear. And when I listen to music I dont want to hear I usualy fall asleep or cover my ears...
atleast Video Games Live was gonna have castlevania and Zelda (i think...). Even still, im not a big fan of the most popular video game music. Its nice (All of mario's music, some MGS, one or two FF songs) but I only like to hear it in-game. I would go to a JDK band concert in a heartbeat though.
anyways, if this turns out to be anything like "Dear Friends..." it'll probably sell out within a week.

I'm actually going to the Chicago show as well. Got my tickets already. Unfortunately, I had to settle for the crappy balcony seats as I'm too poor to afford the VIP ones for now, maybe next time. I'm ecstatic that Akira Yamaoka will be performing music from Silent Hill. I love the music in those games.

We apologize deeply and hope to make a positive announcement someday. Thank you for your understanding. Message from Yasunori Mitsuda about the Play Concert in Chicago: "It is extremely meaningful to me that a concert as fantastic as this one is being held. Throughout my life, I have relentlessly attempted to communicate something in the music I write, but I never dared to dream that this music of mine would be able to reach people beyond the shores of Japan. So, all of my work has been worthwhile. I'm greatly looking forward to meeting game music fans in America.~ Yasunori Mitsuda~" They just confirmed Nobuo Uematsu will be there as well. Great news!

If anyone listens to the Broadcast Gamer podcast ( www.broadcastgamer.com, MC Wilson is hosting a meet-up at a pizza place close to the theater and at a local arcade afterwords. Listen to the podcast for details. Also it looks like the Video Games Live concert series will be coming to the exact same Chicago theater in August. Guess I'll be going back then.
