Hi, first of all I'm kinda new here although I've been to this forum a few times. I'm just wondering what happened to the Ys series, I've got through all of the older titles (But 2.5d still) and even got through Origin with all of the characters, is there going to be another title?
If not, what other games like Ys (Platform/Action-RPG wise) would you recommend?

Ys 7 has already been confirmed to be in development. I'm not really expecting it until next year though - Zwei 2 is due at the end of September, Zwei 1 PSP seems to be coming out after that, so I figure that's going to be their traditional christmas game. Ys 7 will likely be next, maybe some time mid-next year?
Then probably Legend of Heroes 7 the year after. I want it now ;_;

Well, while you're waiting for Ys 7, you can try out other fun Falcom games like Zwei!!, the upcoming Zwei 2, and Gurumin! :D They're all action games and full of good times. If you haven't already, you should check out the Ys: Similar Games thread over in the video games forum (http://seldane.proboards107.com/index.cgi?board=gaming&action=display&thread=3432) for more recommendations.

Hm... Only now I noticed... The number "7" is said to be the number of perfection.
I hope that Ys SEVEN honors its own name.

It will probably be exactly like Origin, Oath and Ys 6. I am not expecting much, other than a great soundtrack, and more of the same enjoyable level design.

Ill laugh if its Dogi, and he comes crashing out of the closet, instead of through a wall

XD
All I actually wish for is a plot that won't screw up anything from the series' storyline, like it has always been. Clear ups in the storyline and an interesting, creative and/or brilliant plot are also welcome. A game engine change would be interesting, yet risky. Multyplayer mode of some sort would be nice, especially co-op adventure play. Ass-kicking soundtrack as usual is also expected. I also wish it'd be longer a bit longer than these last three 3D Ys games, although that's unlikely to change.

Ugh it takes Falcom over ten years to issue a new game engine for one of its series, so I hope they stick with the current one. I would like to play a new Ys game before I am 34 years old.

Hm... Only now I noticed... The number "7" is said to be the number of perfection. Actually, it represents "completion", at least in Bible terms (which is what I assume you're talking about - sorry if it's not). But, that's really a topic for another time, except to say that I hope "Ys 7" does not mark the completion of the Ys series. Or if it does, I hope that it's done really well. Anyway, is there any information regarding "Ys 7", other than it's in development?

Eh, anyone still has a link to that list?
I was hoping they'd do something about Ys 4 and 5 before churning out 7.

I was hoping they'd do something about Ys 4 and 5 before churning out 7. www.falcom.com/kaisya/ir/library_pdf/setumei071114.pdfPage 3 - Ys SEVEN, Zwei II, Vantage Master, Brandish, Zwei, Sora no Kiseki the 3rd, Legend of Heroes 7. So we can rule Zwei 2, Vantage Master (PSP), Zwei (PSP) and Sora 3rd (PSP) off that now as fully announced, leaving Ys SEVEN, Brandish and Legend of Heroes 7 announced only on that list.

Hm, "completion", yeah, I heard that too. But man, I totally wouldn't want the Ys series to stop already! I also think it just won't too, since it's their flagship franchise. That is, the game series that enables the workers at Falcom to get food. xD Ys SEVEN... I expect it to be released at the end of the next year.

By the end of this year it'll be 2 years since Origin, and the end of next year would be 3. Unless they're making a completely new engine it doesn't take 3 years to develop a 10-15 hour game

Me thinks Ys 7 won't be the end. After all, they have yet to redo Ys 4 and 5 like Ys 3.
So... maybe Ys7, then Ys 4, Ys 5, and then Ys 8? Maybe there will be a "Ys Final" or something. That's my hope...

If it's anything like Felghana and Origin in terms of difficulty I'll probably get him killed frequently on normal.

You know, I just played through Origin on Normal (Hugo) and Hard (Yunica), and both times found it much easier than Felghana on Normal, where I often went through a dozen or more tries on some of the bosses... probably more like two to three dozen on a couple of bosses.
I'm not sure if Origin is just easier than Felghana, or if Felghana tightened up my skills so that I'm more prepared for Ys-style boss fights. (I had recently finished Felghana on Nightmare prior to starting Origin, so that might also figure into things.) Regardless, I'll be curious to see where they set the difficulty for the next game.
