Ok... we gotta have some kind of spoiler tag in this forum.
Not everyone of us has that much time to play the game. I'm still in the early parts of the game and now I already have an inkling on who the masked man is... although it isn't really much of a spoiler, but it's not difficult to figure out...
Well I can't stop pple from posting spoilers though... guess I'll stay away for a while.

AGP cards have been obsolete (and definitely a thing of the past) for many years now. PCI cards have been obsolete for over ten years now. That might be pushing it a bit much. I still remember buying a Voodoo 3 PCI card back in '99 when it was considered a pretty decent card. And just a couple years ago I bought a nice mid-range AGP card that held up a while. Definitely not high-end cards but certainly not "obsolete." Anyway, my point was that it's becoming harder to find cards for older motherboards. Luckily, if you're willing to build it yourself, a new system really doesn't cost that much money at all.

Hey d00des~ Remind me of Gurumin cuz I be too lazy to Google right now -- what were the conditions of getting the Gold Medal ranking in dungeons? Were they stuff like clear under a certain time and also NOT GET HIT BY ENEMIES? Break all pots, etc.?
Are the conditions the same in this game? ^^

Actually, Gurumin just asked to open every chest, break every jar and defeat every phantom. I don't think I've ever been penalized for losing time and HP.

In Gurumin, time (maybe HP too, not sure) only seems to differentiate between an S rank or S+/S++ up to however many plusses there are. Not a big deal to me.
They only show time in this with your medal so I'm guessing that's the only thing that matters here. There's actually a Platinum Medal ranking in Zwei II as well, and repeating the level when you come back to it later seem to change the time tables for ranking too, at least as far as I can tell.

Hrm? Platinum medals are simply found in hidden areas if I'm not mistaken. I've never once earned a platinum medal for completing a course. Infact, it is thanks to nunuu that I have them all. Perhaps now she can beat Black Bean with my tip. If not, I can always record the fight for her. *has a severe third person disorder*

You're probably right. All I remember seeing is going into the museum place and the guy at the counter saying I have zero of them, and I'm up to the Abyss Flower

:O! Are the conditions the same in Zwei 2 though? I'm puzzled as to why I'm stuck with a Silver Medal for the first dungeon. .___.~~ Woah, there's Platinum rank too? :O!!
Also, I didn't know you had to BUY pets in ths game. D: I went through the level 1 and the two level 2 areas in the mine without one. ^^;;;
But now, I have a little chicken. >:3!!! Gonna upload the video to YouTube now.
Yay. Managed to get the Gold medal in Level 01 of the mine but what would it take to get Platinum!?

Oh! Between talks of Gurumin and this, I wasn't sure what was going on. ^_^" To be honest, I know nothing about Zwei!! and Zwei!! 2 -- so don't let me steer you the wrong way.
Also: I would love to see this chicken action. I'm actually unfamiliar with the pet system.

Hey, in Zwei, didn't the inactive character also attack enemies?
Anyway, here's the video! Pet shopping and dungeoning! Too bad the chick's at level 1. :( Otherwise, you'd spot it poop out them explosive golden eggs (which are about the same size as the birdy itself ^^)!!!

My impressions during the vid -- I did this on notepad: Gasp! Gigantic veggies! This game reminds me of Brave Fencer Musashi for some reason. Gurumin too, but not platformy, eh? It's like a MMO dungeon-crawler, in the vein of Xanadu Next; but the speed of Ys. It's interesting, but I dunno. I think I'll wait until after I get Romancia: Another Legend. OH! He jumped! It's also got character switching. Nifty. Hey, you jumped again! Those wooden pegs look like they were taken straight from Gurumin, as do the jars and coins. Hey, the chick gets the coins too! Yay, little chick, go get em! Oh, there we go with switch puzzles and wooden pegs, just like Gurumin. Do the combos do anything?! 62... 62 combo, max for vid. You have 4 hearts ala Zelda?! Weird... no HP this time. Giant slime! 95 max combo for vid! SLOT MACHINE?! In a dungeon?! Hey, Grana Vallis caverns, complete with a rope bridge! XD

Well, actually, a lot of Zwei 2 and Gurumin things came from Zwei. :P
Combos mean something once special skills come into play cuz I think every x-combo = one skill stock.
Oh man, the cat attacks in the most hilarious way. While the chick lays eggs and rolls into enemies, the cat just RAMS into them. ^^;;;
I'm just jumping around and letting the cat fight right now. ^o^

Heheh, sweet. Yeah, the game did start to grow on me halfway through (after my Romancia remark) and I'll definately give it a chance. Of course, granted, I'll have to play Zwei!! first, so as not to miss anything crucial. I could've sworn I heard about a Zwei!! stateside release years back, but I could be thinking of Zweihander or something else. Zwei!! sounds very familiar though. If there's any chance of playing it in english, I'd love to do so. I'm linguistically challenged still, so yeah. Until I learn Japanese myself, I'm going to hold off on Japanese releases for a while -- unless it's more Ys. Plus, I want to get going on that Faxanadu Retrans someday soon. Something about that game's dialog just rubs me the wrong way.

Ergh.
Is there a way to manually sort food? Or at least move food that you don't want to nibble on out of the Item Slot belt? I guess I just eat up all the unwanted food for EXP though. ^^
Yay. Bumped into Pipiro and Pockle. They look cuter in the original game. :((
Currently doing Oldium Shrine but now that I got the Hook Gear, I'm going to head back to the mine to go to that area I couldn't get to before.
Geez, this game wants you to BUY everything. >:( What happened to all the treasure you had to go through Hell to obtain? I mean, seriously, look at all the Gadget shit you can purchase instead of work for. >_>
Hooray for more grinding "incentives." 9___9
Anyway, I got the Pet Pedometer. (It's one of the things that doesn't cost money.) It makes me laugh and go WTF? at the same time.
Sigh, I wish that pets hung around Ragna and Alwen in towns and the world map. Why only limit them to dungeons? It's hilarious is that the Pet Pedometer is still active in the areas where the pet isn't visibly present though

Editted original post regarding the platinum medal comment: I was talking about Zwei II's ranking that includes it, not Gurumin (which I only ever found one in the house so far). I still have no idea how fast you need to be to get them though, I've been getting about 4:3 gold:silver so far. EDIT: I might just have been hallucinating or something, but I could've sworn I saw Glenn give me a list of every level I've passed before and a total count of how many platinum, gold, silver, and bronze medals I've gotten, but now I can't get him to spit the list out anymore, only hunter rank and treasure display. It's also entirely possible I might have just imagined platinum being there and ignoring silver, ugh I hate my memory

PLATINUM MEDAL REQUIREMENTS FOR LEVELS:
> complete level before the time objective > break all pots > no HP damage > no food item use
I suggest concentrating on the medal hunt after you get the glide gear.
PLATINUM MEDAL REQUIREMENTS FOR BOSSES:
> defeat boss before the time objective > no HP damage > no food item use
Platinum medal is only possible by going to the Colesseum and playing the boss fight simulations.
PLATINUM MEDAL REQUIREMENTS FOR LVL 99 LEVELS:
> complete the entire level. Nothing more.
You can buy a gadget that tells you the total number of pots in a level, time objective, etc.

A better Hunter's Rank (which I assume better medals will give you more points) gets you some freebies from the guild, but so far I've only gotten food (and cash from turning in treasures) - I doubt there's anything better that's given out.

I guarantee there is a way! Just play around with things a bit. You'll figure it out. (: Well, from what I can gather from the manual (by skimming XD), there is no way and there's no storage or safe in the game either. (But that doesn't make sense if the item slot belt is full. :/) And d00de, I've been stocking and trading and eating! XD Thankees muchly to BlackBean for the Platinum Medal requirements and tips! :D I think my dungeon limit's going to be pretty low for Platinum though -- i.e., I get hit a lot. XD If it's not enemies, then it's all the traps or missing jumps and falling into endless pits. :P Hirm, I should start seeking Japanese walkthrough sites soon cuz I want a list of all the food trading results and I know I'm going to get stuck somewhere eventually! XD
