Yes, you read right! Luifa/Estopolis returns!!!! Famitsu revealed that Taito is working on a new sequel to the classic RPG series Lufia, entitled Estpolis: The Land Cursed by the Gods, the game will be produced by the original development team, and Square Enix will be the publisher. I'm............pretty damn excited! However, I've never finished Luifa 3, & really haven't played Ruins of Lore(I think that was the name) much........should I?

Everyone bitched and whined about RoL, but no one has finished it. I loved every damn minute I was playing it, and I am a HUGE FAN of Lufia II. I haven't spent any time with the GBC game, but that doesn't matter.
This is really, really, really great news!

What?
What!?
WHAT!?
*immediately tacks the game onto the wishlist*
Man, way back when, one of the Lufia shrines out there posted a piece of music that was supposedly to be used in Estpolis 3 (the proposed console version not the one that eventually came out) and was composed by the original composer. Hope this new game uses it or a variation of it because it was pretty good!

Oh yes. First the new Golden Sun game, then Lunar remake, and now this. 2010 is going to be a nostalgia ride for me

The only Lufia game I've played is Ruins of Lore, ironically... Well, I guess this will inspire me to get around to playing the other games too.

Wow, this was unexpected. I hope we finally get to see more of Arek (not necessarily as a "villain"). With Ruins of Lore, I think the main gripe many people had with it was the lack of the Sinistrals, so as long as they at least get back to that (seems like it, judging by the title), I'll be happy.

Speaking from a non-Lufia-fan's perspective, I would have to say the problem with Ruins of Lore was an uninspired, predictable, boring story accompanied by a cast of similar quality, and then spiced with long and dull dungeons. But hey, I liked the class system.

That's just it, though.
The story surrounding the Sinistrals is probably one of the series' strongest points, as they're not your typical "villains". Take that away, and you've got a pretty typical RPG with pretty boring characters. Aside from the Sinistrals' story, the only other things the series has going for it are the Lufia II type puzzles, and the battle systems from II on up.

But the Sinistrals make an appearance in RoL, and the game is supposed to be considered a side game. I don't know why people are so hard on it, because we already got 3 games centered around the main storyline.

Granted, I haven't finished it, but I did get a good ways into it. Anyway, I think it's because it's a side game that people don't like it as much, especially when the Lufia II aspects (puzzles/battle system) weren't done as well, at least in my opinion. And of course the Sinistral thing. It just doesn't feel like a Lufia game without them.

Very cool. I've finished Lufia II and really enjoyed it (aside from a power failure halting progress on my Floor 70 game inside the optional dungeon.. grrr.) I never played Lufia I or the GBA/Ruins of Lore games. Maybe I should sometime now that the series is getting a new title. It's always good to have sequels to old series. Hopefully it will be better than Dragon Song was to the Lunar series. : 0

I remember I played Lufia for the first time, when I had some surgery & was out of comission from going to school for a couple weeks, so, a friend gave me Shadowrun(SNES) & Lufia, & I fell in love with both games. Eventually, the 2nd game came out, & I did something I had never done before....I paid $70+ for it at Toys R Us! I had never payed that much for a game, but, man, what a great game!
As for Lufia 3, I was playing it a few years ago, got probably into the middle of the game, but, now I don't even remember anything about it other then me being bored with it. It seemed like it barely had any story, but, maybe I'm remembering wrong??

I've never played Lufia, any of them, in my life. Should I? It sounds pretty popular...
