I remember when it was lame and sad and in a small room. This was back in 2000 or 2001, I think. That was prolly back when game room was a small room on the 300-level of the BCC. It's been so much more awesome in the years that they've gotten two whole exhibition halls. It's a shame that a lot of Otakon staff don't realize how popular it is or how big the room's impact is. They think what does video games have to do with Japan and always try to cut the budget or shrink their floor space. Another scary thought is that the same people running it now are the same that have been running it since a year before I joined Otakon Staff. One day they'll all end up leaving and there really hasn't been any new blood to replace them.

Yeah, they crammed a DDR machine into the room and had tables set up with consoles and such for fighting games. :B But I'm telling you, it still beats Anime North's set up with the drapes and all. Granted, they had Stepmania shown on a projection screen and one or two DDR machines when I went. I .... can't remember where the REST of the video gaming was. Probably at one of the hotels like the card RPGs. :V

Just going to local cons this year. I want to go to Otakon but a few hundred dollars just to get there is a bit rough.
Louisianime and Mechacon are two I am going to for sure. Otherwise, I might go to some in Texas if my friends go

Was gonna harangue about AN 2006 again but instead, I will show you the most awesome thing about the con that year: Quinton Flynn & Jeff Nimoy at the Advent Children (and unofficially Kingdom Hearts II XD) panel: Voice actor panels are INSANELY fun. *_____*

Just going to local cons this year. I want to go to Otakon but a few hundred dollars just to get there is a bit rough. Yeah, that's what it looks like to me as well. I started looking into prices and such and although I really want to go this year, my wife and I just ended up finally paying off most of our wedding expenses with another card to go and it's looking to be at least $250-300 to go for a few days. I'll have to think about it some more. I could drive, but it's about 12 hours away for me... -Thomas

Hi, this is Tom's friend Brandi. One of our roommates dropped out for Otakon (today) and we could really use at least one person to replace him. We have the room Thursday, Friday, Saturday, check out on Sunday. The room is $200 a night plus tax. Which would be split between us all. Right now we have 3 people in the room.
We are all older fan (late 20s) and we would prefer no shenanigans going on. We don't drink or party in the room. We will sometimes hang out and chat and eat but that is about it.
We are basically looking for person(s) who has common curiosity and good hygiene.
Please feel free to message me if you are interested.

My uni does a small convention every year in the fall now called MikomiCore. Hoping to find some falcom fans this year in this small con.

Need to figure out what to bring to PAX to play on the way there, while there, and on the way back.
I'm thinking about trying to unlock the rest of the stages in Rhythm Heaven as something to do. And I'll probably bring some Taiko as well.
But ... dunno what else. D:

I've got room for 4 DSi games (DSi case holds 3) & 5 PSP games (1 4-UMD case + PSP) DSi: Phantasy Star Zero, Picross 3D, Space Invaders Extreme 2 (portable Zuntata LOVE!), and Korg DS-10+ (but not like I know how to use that thing for anything other than a drum machine). Do you have Legacy of Ys? You should bring that and I'll bring mine so we can say that we played the multiplayer ;P PSP: Ys SEVEN, Phantasy Star Portable 2 JP, Phantasy Star Portable US, Ys vs Sora no Kiseki, and for the last spot Monster Hunter Portable Unite or I.Q. Mania... hrm...

I think I should start bookmarking threads. I keep forgetting to check back on ones that I don't post to often. XD
Nay, I don't have Legacy of Ys. I'll be bringing most of my DJMax Portable stuff along with Pop'n Music Portable and Half-Minute Hero ... plus some things on the memory stick. *aham*
I'll also bring my DS Lite and DSi XL but won't carry both at the same time. In fact, since I'm playing Last Ranker, I'll have the PSP as carry-on. :B

PAX shit. Very minuscule loot. :(! This stuff doesn't include the crap that was included in the swag bag. Still hate that fact that a lot of the goodies could only be obtained by lining-up-till-you-drop. Seriously, unless I was going to stay in the exhibition hall for an ENTIRE day, there was no way I was going to stand in line for hours waiting to get something. It also doesn't help that I wasn't all that interested in the games that had the long line-ups. XD I STILL wonder if there was anything for Sengoku Basara. :/ :\

I had wanted a Guild Wars 2 t-shirt but wasn't playing their little collect and trade cards game to get one. I also wanted a Mortal Kombat t-shirt until the kid turned around and I saw it featured a graphic of a busted open ribcage with a heart laying at the bottom of the shirt. You're supposed to wear your heart on your sleeve, damnit!
Also I didn't get the Sega t-shirt they were passing out the last day. It was plain black with SEGA running down the left side. Simple, but nice. Oh well I guess I did get a SEGA controller sweater and those were incredibly rare
I also got a Classic Console Challenge Pin because some Enforcer didn't think I could 1cc Contra with no 30 man code.. heheh... fool. He offered me the Challenge Pin from PAX East if I could 1cc Super C as well, but I was halfway through the game and doing great when we had to give up the NES for an actual attendee who wanted it for normal purposes
oh and I really wanted one of those Duke Nukem Forever belt buckles but they ran out the group before mine!

Despite it being easily accessible and cool, I don't plan on attending AWA this year. The last one I attended was in 2002.

I need to post pics. I've really been pressed for time lately but I did manage to be able to squeeze in Saturday afternoon. Lots of great costumes and way too much money down the drain on games. My main 2 finds were The Dawn of Ys(lol the label for the disc says The Dawn of Y's, what now) and Sora no Kiseki the 3rd, the latter of which I actually bought from a fellow ALoY member running one of the booths in the dealer room! (I forget what you said your username was, guy, but I remember you were cool and that it was great chatting with you)

This is probably a bit early to ask, but out of curiosity, is anyone planning on going to Otakon '11? If everything goes well, I should be able to go, but I'd much rather go with other people than by myself.
