I love the NEO GEO.
Have you played the Metal Slug games? Specifically 1, 2, 3, and X. Everything after that is meh at best

I've played them all, but my finances don't stretch to the AES versions, especially when I have the £30 PS2 compilation disc upstairs They're on the "maybe later" pile - I'll look at getting a few favourites on MVS cart further down the road for it (and the converter to go with it).

5 is pretty great, I think... It'd be better if it weren't for that lame-o slide maneuver. I gotta say, I even like 4 better than 3, which is by far my least favourite. It just drags and drags and drags (and drags and drags (and drags)).

Hello. New here. (I feel naked without my sky blue font I use everywhere else) Anyhow. I have many to thank for getting me into the Ys series within the last year. Happy Console gamer introduced me to it. Tom I saw on Classic Game Room. Two members at another forum called the Shenmue Dojo. In september I got Ys on DS. I loved it. I got Ys III later on SNES. Enjoyed it despite the flaws. Finally got Chronicles on PSP,Ark,Seven,Vanished(MS& Famicom) which leads me to my latest purchase. (sorry no actual photo yet,Apologies)

It just drags and drags and drags (and drags and drags (and drags)). Really 3 is your least favorite? That's the first time I've heard that. I will grant you that the last mission kind of drags. 4 was a mish mash of reused sprites. 5, 6, and 7/XX were alright but none of them compare to the pre SNK bankruptcy games. I'm not that big a fan of the games produced after SNK went bankrupt in 2000. Playmore never had the same sort of feeling that SNK had.

Welcome Ryudo!
I didn't like the new Samurai Spirits games much, but there's not anything particularly wrong with KoF '03 (etc), or games like Neo Geo Battle Colosseum (and I do like Metal Slug XX too). I think a lot of it is just that they're struggling to find their place in a world that generally doesn't care about what they produce, and now they've (completely understandably) moved on from the Neo Geo they don't have that guaranteed support they used to.

I haven't played much of Playmore's post NEO GEO stuff. I don't have any arcades near me and i don't have an X-BOX 360. Just judging from 01 - 04 it seems like they were trying really hard to be what SNK was in the 90's. KOF03 wasn't bad, neither was Metal Slug 5 - XX. I'm just saying they weren't as good as pre bankruptcy SNK.

KoF XI, 98 UM (not fair it's a rebalance of an SNK KoF), and 2k2 UM were all solid. I can't comment on Metal Slug beyond 4 & 5 were horrid, but heck.. I think most of 3 was bad too. Metal Slug X was the best
But we're talkin' Neo Geo and no Fighters History Dynamite, Blazing Star, Goal Goal Goal, or Shock Troopers mentioned?! (or Puzzle Bobble & Magical Drop)

Blazing Star.... Wait isn't that the shooter where the last boss is a giant fetus with machine guns for arms.

Utena! <3 That is my favorite anime of all time! It has such a special place in my heart. It was very important to me and how I view the world, at a time when I didn't understand myself or the world around me. I really need to get these DVDs, I've seen the Japanese versions, and the quality hike is AMAZING. Especially when you consider that the first time I saw the show was the original fansubs on old .rmvb and .mpg files from 1999-2000. I wish I could have seen it then at the quality it is now...it was nearly unwatchable quality back then.

You good folks got me looking into Neo Geo games. While I didn't find too much to suit my tastes, I was astonished to find an actual RPG:
Guess who's working on an English patch. Hint: Deuce. (was that a bit obvious?)

That's for the Neo Geo CD, not the regular AES/MVS. It also came out on Saturn and PS1 too, but I've got no idea if either of those are better or worse than the original. The NGCD had a few exclusive games, but only one RPG!

Amazing album! Touches my soul. Kick-Ass 2 #2: It took a long time for this to come out! Super Dinosaur 1-3 : A cool comic that reminds me of old Hanna-Barbera cartoons.

Finally got this in the mail today. Since I don't have a 3DS yet, it was my motivation for getting the game.
