In the gaming world, I have never looked forward to anything as much as this, ever. Zwei 2 was the biggest surprise of 2009 (or was it 2008?) for me. Easily GOTY of whatever year that was. Love the game - love you guys - for doing this.
The font thing breaks my heart.

Welcome Back Seldane. Man, it's sure been awhile. Hopefully this project can pick up some more steam soon enough. I've been itching to get back to work on those remaining graphics, but I've got other demands at the moment that need to be completed first before I can work on this stuff again. I'm hoping that by the time I can really get back to work on it that the font will be near completion. : )

At this point it might be worth it to just go with a basic font and do a proper patch release later with an original font. Haven't gotten a peep on /v/ about it

Going with a basic font currently would mean either massively butchering the bestiary/char info screen, or having letters go all over the place and result in spacing issues with dialogue throughout the entire game.
It's not that hard to pay someone to make the font and ensure things meet an amicable level of quality standard.

Perhaps you should set up a paypal account to accept donations for the project. I'm sure fans would love to help, and you could even gather enough resources to not only finish the patch, but also buy youself a very lovely pizza to devour while working on it!

Have you tried asking for font help elsewhere?
I know of a few more game related forums and it's possible you might get lucky and find someone.

I'd certainly donate towards it. I don't know how, and I know people that do know how but they aren't terribly interested.

I generally don't know where to ask for these sorts of things. And is paypal the preferred way to set things up such as donations then?

I'd make a news post at romhacking.net. You don't have to register or post on the forums making it pretty easy to do. Basically I would explain the project and what you need help with (the font)...
I'm fairly certain that the site gets a lot of traffic from all over the world and especially from people interested in translations etc. You might get lucky and catch somebody interested in helping you.
For translation and hacking purposes it's a fantastic place and resource to find people. I've found many a person to help me through the site.

That, the remaining graphic edits and of course beta testing. I'd say there's plenty still on the To-Do list. : )

Hello there. I just wanted to state I highly appreciate your efforts for working on this translation. I recently discovered this gem while on my hunt for PC RPGS, and I was saddened that it was J-only. However, since this translation project seems to be going well, I can't tell you how thrilled I am that this exists. To the best of luck guys, I'm looking forward to its release. *Bookmarks*

I'm hoping zzblue reads this, I can't seem to get ahold of him via IM or e-mail. Lemme know you're still out there!
Also, how would one go about posting on the Help Wanted section of romhacking.net? I only did a quick look but didn't see anything obvious. Will check later and see I suppose.

Looks like I'll have to register to post a help wanted thing. Guess I'll check back tomorrow and see if it's been approved. heh

A news post doesn't require registration and can act much the same as a help wanted ad and then some. As long as you show your current progress, it should be approved shortly. www.romhacking.net/submitnews/

It'd feel tacky linking my website in it's current condition in a formal news post. Working on fixing that bit in a while. Thanks for the pointer though!

so it is zwei 2 or zwei 2 plus that is getting translated?

It ultimately depends on how it gets released. Right now the internal version only works with the original, but we already have all the text changes for plus extracted and set aside.
The easiest way to view it is: There will be a version for both, or for plus only, depending on how it ends up getting released.

Going off of memory as I have another project on my active drive at the moment, there was about 2 megs of text (not pure, so likely less than 50% actual dialogue) that changed from normal to plus. Some of this is tied to features, most of it is tied to G-Colosseum.
The plan has always been plus, or both. We simply had the normal version when we started, and so began there in terms of implementing the translation and tweaks.
