Just gonna say, at this point it might not be a bad idea to just release something of a beta patch with a random stock font if you haven't gotten somebody to make the custom font yet. Then release a proper patch once you get a real font worked out.
Sure it'll probably look like ass, but it'll be better than Japanese only.

The issue with the font is rather two-fold. 1. There simply isn't any good English dominant font which contains Japanese characters. 2. Some of the museum items require Japanese font, along with my desire to carry over some of the symbolic charm (music notes and heart icons), meaning there needs to be a font that properly adjusts to variable width while supporting those in font sizes as small as 12 pt. If people want to see something early, someone get ahold of one of the promotional Zwei 2 demo discs, and we can at least release a demo version in English. The retail exe has too many data dependencies to be able to just turn on the 'end trial version here' flag without possibly damaging a current version of the game. They go for cheap on auctions occasionally but I never manage to find them while they're active. Something I did run across today while checking auctions though: detail.chiebukuro.yahoo.co.jp/qa/question_detail/q1024596165"I want to play Zwei 2, but I'm worried my system won't run it that great. On the FF11 benchmark I get a score of 3200." |

btw i'm having problem with the game itself.
i don't know if this is outopic or so, feel free to move to the right place
once installed i get an error and while i have the option to retry launching the exe it's impossibile to get into the game.
can't report what the window says cause it's rubbish characters even if i got the support for japanese language.

Vanhart, don't know what you are trying, but here's the hurdle I had to jump when installing. You can't install with your default Unicode language set to English, you get all kinds of squirrely problems. You need to go into Control Panel -> Regional and Language Options (or whatever its called under Win7 - I installed on XP) and change your default Unicode language to Japanese and reboot. You should then be ok installing. Once complete, change your default Unicode language back to English, and you can then use AppLocale to run the game. I regret I can't guarantee this will fix the specific problem you are having, but my problems launching the game were resolved by reinstalling using the above method. Good luck!

as i wrote before is the original one
i bought this, since i love the box art
and while the + version still has a good one i also managed to find an unopened copy on yj so that 's it ^_^
anyway i got it work now thanks for the advices ^_^
still have some framerate problem
i boosted all the conf to the max since i have a late '10 imac and i tought it would have been ok
i have to play with the conf a little more i guess.

no i'm not emulating (actually would be virtualizing)
i'm running windows with bootcamp.
i'cant imagine how choppy would be running this game trough vmware XD

I think we have a font so things are going well.. But any resolution lower then 800x600 plans to be remove/disabled at this time.

Well by any chance is the coming to Steam and PCDL screen part of the joke or the "news"?
I don't own any copy of Zwei or Zwei 2 yet, so if you were able to legitimately release the full translated game(s) as a PC DL title, that would make my life easier. I wouldn't have to deal with import fees and the bloody horrible USD->JPY conversion rate.
