... great, now I'm imagining Oath in Felghana with motion controls. OW, MY SHOULDERS I would never think anything negative could be associated with Oath, and then this post happened. Yeah please don't put Ys games on the Wii :l Unless they work with the Classic Controller in which case I'm sort of okay with it as long as they're only re-releases. I'd much rather play Ys Eight or The Oath in Celceta(please) on the best system available

Thirded! Although you know it's got to happen eventually; Falcom needs a version of that game to call their own.

though a 3DS version would be awesome No. I'm already pissed that Atlus is releaseing SMT games on the 3DS. But if Falcom does to? I don't know what I'll do. I'd sooner throw down 200 dollars for a PS3 than 200 dollars for a gimmick.

I agree since I've been to the future and can say with 100% certainty that every game on the 3DS is gimmicky and the system is terrible

Guys, 3DS bashing went out of style after E3. Now people are excited for it instead.

I don't know what I'll do. I'd sooner throw down 200 dollars for a PS3 than 200 dollars for a gimmick. This is a Sony product here - by the time that quote is realistic, people will be talking about the development process for the PS5 while Sony goes through the inevitable learning curve of trying to market the PS4. On the main topic: I am a PC gamer, first and foremost. I started out that way, and I still am. I have seen no game or even set of games on gaming consoles to change my mind. That is not trying to say that there is something objectively wrong with the consoles or console games - it is how I am. I do like console games, and some of them a lot - heck, eventually I will get a PS3 because Atelier Rorona is coming to the US. Having a DS (Especially.) and a PSP (Not as much.) is useful when I am traveling and can not play games on a laptop. But am I happy that Falcom no longer has an option of developing and publishing PC games? No, definitely not. I like playing games on the PC, and now I can not look forward to seeing new Falcom games on that platform. I do not really accept the PSP as a good replacement either, not the least of which is the screen. So we have an end to an era, with no proper replacement yet until Falcom releases a new game on a home console. 'Sad' does not do justice to how I feel right now about it. At the level of running a business, I can understand. As the level of a fan, I am far more disappointed. At the level of more basic emotions - even more so. C.T.

The only thing I'll miss about the PC is the ability to turn up the graphics all the way up, and I think the PS3 will meet me on that front. I'm sure it's not bad for desktops, but my laptop runs pretty hot during Ys, so I won't miss frying all my spermies.

I enjoy thematically dark games as well. The ambiance was a big part of why I liked Demon's Souls. However, unlike you it seems, I don't enjoy them as exclusively. I like the Atelier Iris approach as well.
I also can't stand Gurumin's approach, but I was willing to stomach it because Gurumin is actually a really fun game. I'm generally a "graphics whore", and a part of why I disliked FFVII as much as I did when I played it was the fact that the graphics made my eyes bleed. But aside from a select few styles (like the ultra chibi thing), then I don't really mind the visual and thematic direction of games as long as they look good. That's not to say I don't have favorites, though, because I do.

Forget the jumping; that's comparatively easier than say, the spinning you'd have to do. Or the combined jumping and spinning, with crazy slashing all inbetween. Stabbing for magic? Hey, how would you change spells, or activate boost mode? I'm thinking the Super Saiyan stance for boost mode. XD Oh, and how would you change directions? I mean, if you had to face south, you wouldn't be able to look at the TV? That would be a pain! @_@

Also, I just have to go here: Alternative Saga looks like a cash-in to me. It looks like a cheesy crossover - even if the programming and music and gameplay is superb, the concept leaves me with a bitter taste. I personally think stuff like that is a disservice to the source material. But, meh, if you like it, you like it. To me, it feels like the Falcom I know and love and grew up with got distracted by a shiny thing and never came back. There's a certain mysterious and wild spark to Falcom's old work that I just don't feel anymore. 1st part. I feel the same way about it. I personally hate crossovers and see them just as a way for a company to make a quick buck due to star recognition, ala MvC and Tekken vs SF. 2nd part. It's just the way the Japanese market it. I mean look at anime. It's evolving away from a lot of unique types of series and style to all basically being moe and cutesy. Easy way to make money/drag in new people. Who knows maybe a spark will happen and they'll do something like the old days. You never know.

The day the Falcom makes generic moe shit is the day I stop showering Falcom with money. Until they make another Ys or Brandish, anyway.

Sad sad news to me, for many reason.. Falcom abandoning PC and going for (most likely) psp&ps3 platforms which means i would have to buy either of them (or both) to be able to play future Falcom games (and some current ones too). And both of them being nowhere near top my to-buy list I won't be able to play them anytime in near future, at least not in 'good way'. I just don't feel like spending my money on any consoles (except for used gc controllers for school time use) with so much else needed to be bought. And hell yeah I liked the time couple of years ago, when I could just say how I love Falcom for making good games and FOR PC. But now it seems that I can't say that anymore, only 'used to make good games for pc'. And yes, I am kind of a damn pc fan gamer but I can't help it. PC just feels the most comfortable gaming system for me on Falcom like games, or single player focused games in general. With PC I can have my own time to play and play when I feel like it. I can't play big machines when I want nor have my own time with them, since they are hooked with TV and other family members want to use it too and always people there in the living room so it just doesn't feel comfortable. Of course there will probably be time when that isn't a problem but still even when no1 is around PC just feels more comfortable to play. And handheld machines.. Not really my main type gaming systems.. (for example with handheld machine I find it difficult to eat/drink while playing, and I'm that type that loves to have nice time playing while drinking a couple cups of coffee, whats a better way to spend a couple of hours than that?) I just don't feel like playing handhelds if i can do sth else, the times they are good and I really am happy for handhelds existence is during long electricity blackout, train trips (but i don't take a train often) and times when theres nothing interesting to read in wc. Of course I play them other times too but it just doesn't feel so good, and that earlier was just to say that I do like handheld machines too. Well theres still old Falcom PC catalog left to play, hopefully they don't all disappear into the shadows by the time I ll be able to play them, at the moment my knowledge of Japanese isn't just enough - and I ll have hard time going only with self-studying for the next two years since again there will be no courses held near (in radius of 60km), well I can build up my vocabulary at least other stuff may be more difficult alone :/ and now closing the total off-topic But what can we do, leaving PC for other platforms is a business trend as is being blinded by graphics.. And business is shity business, .... old times....
