I already kind of mentioned this before, but I'm actually fairly happy with the PC version. This is after completing the game a few weeks ago.
It might be because I wasn't really expecting much, other than a basic port of the PSP version, and I've been fortunate to have experienced few technical issues, besides sound effects occasionally being absent when playing with headphones.
Admittedly, if I had experienced more issues, I would be pretty distressed, given my Chinese communication skills are kind of lacking, so I doubt I'd be able to get much help.
In any case, I do agree it would be nice to have something a bit more closer to the Sora no Kiseki PC versions, but I'm still pretty happy with what I got considering the circumstances.
I'm kind of interested to know if the developers are indeed working on a patch to improve the game and if so, what it may include. It's probably too much of a stretch to hope for the assets for zero-full to be added, given that the battle voice edition of FC was released as a standalone (albeit, budget) title.

It's probably too much of a stretch to hope for the assets for zero-full to be added, given that the battle voice edition of FC was released as a standalone (albeit, budget) title. Completely agree. The PC port is essentially a scaled up PSP version with mouse support. The game wasn't designed for PC from scratch, so it's bound to have its fair share of problems when all the images are blown up. The patch will likely offer optimizations on system resource usage, since people complained how the game tends to run like snapshots on slower PCs. The admin at joyoland also mentioned that they're looking into the issue of flashing screens during window mode, it's probably going to be addressed with the patch. I think the mainland version of FC offered a free patch which included all the battle cries and compatibility fixes for Windows 7. The HK version released by Typhoon Games was not so fortunate. It's unlikely for them to release the FVE of Zero as a patch for free (could be offered as a DLC or something). It's gonna be too large to d/l and they'll miss the chance of milking the series once more. Frankly, I wouldn't mind paying for it, but I'd rather wait for a trilogy compilation like that for FC/SC/3rd, which not only included the newest updates, but also featured a crapload of bonus items.

The sound issues don't really surprise me, the game uses deprecated/outdated directsound called by sound3d.dll wrapper, this causes all kinds of problems especially in newer versions of Windows.
They probably just slapped some random libraries that they could use to support the PSP files fast, at least that how it feels like.
That said, I liked the earlier releases a lot and I'm interested in the patch.

In case anyone here runs linux/mac and uses Wine, I've been making patches to wine so it can run this game without crashing and working audio. So it should run now identical to Windows counterpart. appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=24699bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=28982It's marked as bronze for now, as it won't work without issues on vanilla wineThere is also aspect ratio related ini option that's not there by default. KeepAspcet=0/1 with this you can run the game on any resolution without the black bars. However, most likely you still want to preserve the aspect ratio. The config.exe also has lots of unused stuff (configurations and so), that can't be accessed are not used (heck there are even lots of unused stuff in the .ini file) So it might be the patch will also give more tweaking. ED_ZERO.exe also has hidden code for map selection, however I don't know how to trigger it, at least not yet. The game uses SecuROM's DRM, where Paul.dll does lots of evil stuff and calls the activation UI, while DFA.dll handles the game file access depending on some magic number given by SecuROM.

In case anybody is interested, I believe preorders for the PC version of Ys SEVEN are now open (mainland China version). Like Zero no Kiseki, they're trying to convince you to buy the game by including figurines with certain limited editions. Limited edition with TiaLimited edition with AishaNot sure if I'll get the PC version, since I'm pretty happy with the English PSP version and I get the feeling the PC version won't be much of an upgrade, except maybe the music.

You need a simhei.ttf font, if you are using Windows, make sure you have East language support. If you have then just google and download that font.

Ys Seven isn't out yet? Will get the Ao no Kiseki as well thought. Even if the porting is same level as ZnK, It's still better than nothing.

There aren't any patches/updates as of yet, either through the official site or direct via the game .exe

Can you post of a print screen of this "update" that you're asked to do? BTW, they revealed the Aisha figurine and Adol figurine for Ys 7's limited edition(s). I think the Adol figurine looks rather nice. It's also realistically scaled and not super deformed.

When you reinstalled Windows, did it remove all of your files?
If so, did you deactivate your copy of Zero no Kiseki before reinstalling? You can't activate your game again before deactivating it. If you lost your deactivation code, you'll have to e-mail the game company.
I have to e-mail them myself when I get the time, because I'm sitting on unplayable copies of Zwei II and Zero no Kiseki thanks to a hard drive failure : (

Yeah I didn't deactivate the game before reinstalling my windows. I sent an email in English to cs@portal.gamebar.com because I have the simplified Chinese version and I never receive an answer from them. what is the correct way to send them an email? what do I need to include exactly in the message. I don't speak Chinese at all. thanks
EDIT: I sent an email the best i could in chinese and my activatio code was reset but if i want to desactivate it to not make the same mistake how im i supose to do that?

I don't have the files on me due to my hard drive kicking the basket, but there should be an application in the program directory that does this. I think it includes the word "revoke" in it.
When you click on the correct file, it should display a window with button prompts similar to the activation window--so if you see this, you should be on the right track.
