I see we're getting beautiful stuff, as usual. Kimimi's is fine art, Yakra's is adorable, and GMF gets action Adol like no other! So here's my slapdash sketch/photoshop thingamajig. YAY.

Funny how your idea of slapdash trumps my idea of slapdash then kicks it across three curbs.

My idea of slapdash is Hazama? The photoshop file contained fewer than eighty layers of color. Therefore it is slapdash by my personal standards. But really, the drawing only took me about 40 minutes, and the coloring job around an hour. Tis all I had to spare.

Yeah, your idea of slapdash is the same as my idea of significant effort but you seem to do it in half the time it takes me to finish line art.

I wasn't able to get around to doing mine on time, but I do want to attempt it eventually.
So instead, I'll just leave a comment here stating that everyone has done fantastic work and I am extremely jealous. There.

That's beautiful Lumi! Really soft and light - I love it! It's great how different everyone's methods have been, makes for a really interesting gallery I'm definitely interested in working out how to do a monthly art gallery (of both Falcom and non-Falcom stuff), I think it'd be good to look at and I'm sure working wiht subjects outside my comfort zone would help me improve

Spamus - Pff. Just keep at it. Everyone has their own best pace. I'm fond of gesture style sketching, so that's where the speed comes from. If you do a lot of contour drawing, I'd suggest trying some gesture stuff to loosen up and skip the focus on fine details for awhile. If you want to get faster, that is. I'm always too lazy to go back and add more details, so... it has its drawbacks. Gene - Hey, just because the due date is past doesn't mean you CAN'T post something in here. Do it anyway! Kimi - Aw, thanks. I loved yours- that was some impressive work. We should totally make it a monthly thing. Although it might also help if we had a place to display the stuff at the end of each theme run...

I was thinking about that... how's about every month we make a fresh topic to set the theme and post comments about how we're doing and then keep a separate gallery thread to display everyone's beautiful stuffs so they don't get lost - how does that sound?

Sounds doable to me!
Additionally, I have an old photobucket account lying around, I think, that still contains Falcom scans in it. We can repurpose it to retain our works, if anybody's keen to the idea.

I only got time now to comment and declare that Lumi's work is absolutely awesome (as expected!)! Meep! I love love the colours! They're reminding me totally of the artwork of the the goddesses on the box of the japanese DS Ys I and II~! (Nu clue if that artwork was repeated on the english versions so.... I'll just safely say 'japanese box!' X'D) (The world needs more Leeza and Eldeel art! [That is Eldeel, ne...? I just have never seen him with blue hair.... :'D But that grumpy expression... that erm... hairband/tiara/tikka-thing!])The wrist on the front hand needed more work :S Oh! I completely forgot to say - it's meant to be Heath from Dinosaur! Why did I keep thinking of him as Luta Gemma? Even if Luta Gemma has never shown the tendency to ever pull out an instrument before?! :'D But hirm~~~~ Dinosaur artwork looks lovely! ._.' *kind of wants to play...* And where's the awesome Spamus artwork?! (Also, I'm glad you put up a background-only version of your work, gamemusicfreak! I never realized Lilia was there. And she's looking super nice!) Also, I like the idea of another topic for the theme deciding, and another for a proper gallery of sorts~! Since I'm finally done with my main painting (yay! freedom!), I can.... hopefully... participate more decently next time. :'D

I thought it was Luta gemma at first, too. XD Though both characters ARE similar in appearance eitherway. Except Luta was the only character I knew out of those 2.
And yep! That's Eldeel and Leeza. The picture's name says so, at least ("ysiveldleezcolor1a.jpg").

Points to Red for looking at the file name! Thanks Yakra, glad you like it. I think I may have been subconsciously inspired by that cover art, for all I didn't use references. As for the wonky coloring..? I basically took Eldeel's Ys 4 "remake" (y'know, that PS2 thing) design and added my own spin to it, hence why he has blue hair. Leeza's design was based on the Dawn of Ys PCE version, because she's at her cutest there.

Great stuff everyone! I definitely want to participate in the next submission contest that you all have for Ys. If the idea is to move on to other Falcom themes, that's cool too, but I have one idea in mind that would be great to pull off for Ys. That'll just give me more time to prepare for when it cycles back around to Ys again. : )
