Thanks, but that's not a picture of the game. I haven't even gotten the mock up's for levels yet, to inspire my musical creations. I think he just threw that together really quick to have at the top of the website for some kind of logo or something

oh...oh well, nevertheless, i think the game will come out nicely...if the top banner will have some sort of similarity towards the game.

It might, btw, our game after Neutopia 3 is already being set in stone, it's similar in style to Shadowrun for the SNES, but, it's going to go way beyond that game, since it'll have melee attacks, & playable hireling. We're still working out, if it'll be isometric like Shadowrun, since it can be more difficult to pull I'm told.

I agree, it'd be cool to have you guys do another Valis game, but what about remakes of the originals like what's happening to Ys? I own 3 out of the four originals, not counting variants or the Valis Visual Collection, and I'd personally love to see the music updated (not changed, but remixed) as well as a graphical update. I know I found some CG images around the net of both Yuko and Reiko, so I'm sure the thought's been thought of before. Perhaps if we get enough people to petition, we could get Telenet Japan to remake them? I know they're still in business (they have PS2 games out), so it's entirely possible...
Anyway, new genre listing:
RPG
1. Final Fantasy 2. Ys 3. Zelda
Fighting
1. Street Fighter 2. Tekken 3. Double Dragon
Adventure
1. Valis 2. Valis 3. Valis
(What can I say? I'm a die-hard, hard-core Valis fan. ^^")
1. Valis 2. Mega Man (Original + X) 3. Castlevania
Puzzle
1. Tetris 2. Solomon's Key 3. Bubble Bobble
Action
1. Blaster Master 2. Exile 3. Cadash
Yeah...I'm a classics-junkie. Some of these I half-expect some of you to know, others............you probably never heard of them...

I've heard & played all of them BTW, do you like the Cosmic Fantasy series? That's one of my favorite series that Telenet ever did! Though, realisticly, there's only 1 game in english, I do have them all though. There was supposed to be a 3rd Exile game, I don't know what happened to that. I remember in the 2nd game, I found a character talking about seeing you(the player) in Exile 3, so there must've atleast been one planned. Last Alert, despite the wacky voice acting, is also one of my favorites from Telenet. I wish they made a sequal to that. I liked the RPG aspect of it, with leveling up your gun. Come to think of it, most of my favorite Telenet games were made by the Laser Soft team, with a couple by Riot. Wait, so, Telenet didn't go out of business? Or are they just back from the dead? I remember hearing they went bankrupt or something! Hmm, just looked up some info on them, sounds like they merged with Namco? What game inparticular is a Telenet game, I need to know!

Yeah...I'm a classics-junkie. Some of these I half-expect some of you to know, others............you probably never heard of them... There's no games in your list that I haven't heard or played before. I'm a gamer with over 15 years of gaming experience, you see.
By the way, I see that you like to play puzzle games. Ever played the following games?
- Eggerland/Adventures of Lolo games (MSX/NES/PC/GB) - King's Valley II (MSX/MSX2) - Amazing Tater (GB) - Daedalian Opus (GB) - Doki Doki Penguin Land (MSX) - The Lost Vikings (AMIGA/SNES/PC/PS1/GBA) - The Lost Vikings 2 (SNES/PC/PS1)
I personally like anyone of these over Solomon's Key and Bubble Bobble.
Own all 3 Lolo games and Lost Vikings (on Genesis, though). Heard of Lost Vikings 2, but haven't gotten much else on it. And I'm actually pretty surprised at how many practically unheard-of games people around here know about. Granted, Ys was the most obvious one, but I hadn't any clue that so many around here would know of some of these games. So...yeah. It's nice to know that some of these games are known to others too. I might actually be able to form the fangroups like I've always wanted to.

They feel like mainstream games to me, but then again, I only play odd games, so I guess those games might be odd as well. Sayuuki World - does that say anything to you? It's one of my favorite games (it's a Wonder Boy in Monster Land rip-off).

Valis, Ys, Solomon's Key, Exile, Cadash, Blaster Master, Bubble Bobble, and Double Dragon are all sort of obscure, though Blaster Master and Double Dragon enjoyed a rather large popularity back in the late 80's, early 90's, but then kinda died down after a while. Ys is possibly going to become more mainstream (at least that's what we all hope, sorta), but...yeah. No, I haven't heard of Sayuuki World. I haven't played many Japanese-only games, but I have played some. Among my favorites, though, is an obscure one that...might find a little homage in the Survival-Horror genre, but is more or less an RPG. It's called "Sweet Home", or "Suito Homu" in Japanese. Knowing that this crowd seems to thrive in obscure games, I'm sure someone here has heard about it...

"Final Fantasy, Zelda, Tekken, Street Fighter, Tetris, Mega Man, and Castlevania are all mainstream."
i would call FF, Zelda, possibly Tekken, and Tetris mainstreme games. Street Fighter, Mega Man (other than the EXE series) and Castlevania seem more niche to me today, although they were once popular. The other are probably all (havent played all of them) underrated and overlooked.
Also, Double Dragon isnt realy a Fighter. I guess it could be, in a sense, but it just doesnt fit for me. Zelda deffinately isnt an RPG though, i dont realy understand how so many see it that way....
Mega Man X - Action Castlevania - Action RPG Zelda - Action Adventure Double Dragon - ...i dno, its most commonly refered to as "street brawler" though.
btw, has anyone here played Super Adventure Island 2? that games pretty overlooked and deffinately great too... although, ive never liked the other games in the adventure island series (ive played them..)
Ive been hearing good things about Valis here... Im being tempted to try it out sometime soon..

If you are going to play Valis for the first time, you might be underwhelmed, it's a niche game, that some of us grew up with, especially if you had a Turbo Grafx or PC Engine.

If you were fortunate (or, really, unfortunate), then you could also get the first three on Genesis and the fourth one on SNES. Granted, I'm a huge fan of the first three (as Yuko was a playable character in all three), but for your first one, I would recommend the first Valis in this case. That way you get a feel for what the series really is like as opposed to the second one, unless you happen to get it other than in SD form. You can actually get all the Valis games, though, for fairly cheap if you know where to look. Anyway, I forgot a genre when I made the list: Sports1) Super Dodge Ball 2) Klashball 3) Blitzball (I know, it's really a mini-game, but it really does deserve a title of its own)

lol, Blitzball was the only good part of that game and if my taste is anything like yours, im sure i might like valis. i mean, i do love Ys (and my first taste of that game was the NES Ys I) i actualy think i like many niche and classic games for my age. I have more fun with my NES and SNES than any new game... i prefer simple games compared to complex. i havent played much PCE, but im interested in playing what i've seen...

I would call Sweet Home "mainstream" as well. At least it's not obscure - who hasn't heard about that game? I mean it's the "prequel" to Resident Evil (same director).

I have more fun with my NES and SNES than any new game... i prefer simple games compared to complex. i havent played much PCE, but im interested in playing what i've seen... I dunno. Blitzball was probably the best part of the game, but Auron was still pretty awesome. Who can argue with me on that? O.o Yeah.......he's just cool like that. And here's another favorite that didn't quite get the attention it deserved: Comix Zone. I remember they had commercials for it and stuff, but it didn't really take off as well as it should've. They left it open for a sequel in the end, and I'm hoping that Sega will get off their lazy arses and bring it back, since Viewtiful Joe's gotten a lot of good publicity. I'll have to get a petition going, I guess...just like I will for Valis...once I can get enough people telling me they want Valis back... Speaking of which, I've seen some CG animations for Valis, but I don't know if they came from a game, from Valis Visual Collection, or if they were fanstuffs. I can't read Japanese/Korean/Chinese/Etc. to know what it all is. If anyone can, I can direct you to the site, but beyond that...I can do no more. They were good. So...yeah... And Sweet Home, I'm sure, isn't as well known as you might think. Then again, I tend to hang around crowds who play obscure games anyway (Hiryuu no Ken, anyone?), so I could be wrong, but...yeah. I actually had one friend who didn't know what it was, hadn't even heard of it, but I got him the ROM for it, so...he checked it out a bit. Liked it, of course, but...yeah. Some hard-core gamers may not have heard of it, others will have. Depends on the person, I guess. And as you probably well know, it's not so much a prequel to RE/Biohazard as it is its own game, but it was the game that initiated the genre. I've yet to hear of a Survival Horror game before Sweet Home, so...yeah. It started the whole genre. *nodnod*

Familiar game, indeed. Capcom's game, kinda like Resident Evil in 2D, but not really, only released in Japan officially. Fortunately, some fan(group?) has translated it in english (Gaijin, in 2000).Hehe, in my case that would be Valis 2 on MSX2. Too bad that I never got into the series (at least the MSX games).Blitzball, the mini-game in Final Fantasy X? Actually, it's a total rip-off ( ) of the japanese NES game, Tecmo Soccer -Cup Game-, made in 1992, also available in english. It also got japanese-only sequel, also for NES.
Well, the NES games isn't played underwater, but Blitzball is still a darn rip-off. So, after saying that, I think Tecmo Soccer should be in your list, and not Blitzball. Now Square/Enix (former Squaresoft) gets all the credits for creating the "unique soccer" game.
Sorry, if this post offended you, but I hate when companies gets all the credits about things that someone has done/invented before. *sigh*
From the pictures I've seen of the MSX versions of Valis, both the Genesis & Turbo versions(especially the Turbo versions) blow the MSX versions away, so, I suggest trying out the other versions, ultimatly the Turbo ones, with the great music, VA'ing, etc. Plus, the Genesis versions are missing some levels, atleast, in the case of Valis 3. I'm not totally sure about the differences of Valis 4 for Turbo & SNES, I haven't played all the way thru the SNES version yet.

(Don't even get me started on the overrated pile that is FF6. I can and will tear that game to pieces at the slightest provocation.) How dare you?! Final Fantasy VI is the greatest game upon the face of the earth!! It is PERFECT! Not a single flaw! ....Honestly though, I don't like that game. I stopped after a few hours of playing - out of boredom. But please, let me know what's so bad about it. I want to see some FF fans react on your reply.

The Valis series had some really great music. It was one of the first series to have cinemas. The series is more noted for its cinemas rather than the gameplay.

lol... sounds like a final fantasy maybe ill pass nah, i try everything once... if i get the chance. lol, btw.. i know blitzball sucks now thats a serious put down on FFX when i say that was the best part of the game. ofcourse, i mean gameplay-wise... even though I didn't like FFX's story and characters at all either (imo, kefka and sephy are overrated, but they're a heck of a lot better than Sin or Seymore. Auron is the only tolorable character), i guess it was one of the better and more complex ones compared to the other games. Ive played and beaten V, VII, VIII, and X... and the gameplay totaly made them ALL a chore for me. After playing Ys, im actualy realy confused at hearing that some Ys gamers love FF too, lol. Well, whatever floats your boat... personaly, i hate slow gameplay (i dont even like chess..) and story/cinemas arent enough for me in gaming. games have to be fun for me, not only immersive. Anyways, i prefer a storyline like Ys or Lufia over MGS or FF.

I like FF10, the blitzball stinks, & having no world map is kind of a let down, but I like the characters, mainly Auron though. FF7 is still my favorite. I just love the char's in it! Granted it was my first FF eperience, but I've beaten 5, 7, 8, & am close to beating 10. I've played all the others, I'm close to beating the remix of 1, so many games, so little time.
