Anyway, I just got the soundtrack yesterday,and this is excellent!! I'm only halfway through disc one of two, and I'm hooked! Uematsu hasn't lost a thing if you ask me. I will definitely get a 360 somewhere down the road if the game is half as good as this soundtrack. After watching some footage, it looks like it will be great. There is some great rock and synth stuff here, and some of it even reminds you of Falcom, but with Uematsu's own personal touch. The orchestrations seem more melody driven than being just over the top, which is what I like. I hope disc two is just as good. Did anyone else get this OST yet? I have to recommend it! This is amazing!

AAAAHAAARRRRR!!!
I've only heard a few tracks (read: watched the trailers to hear the battle and boss themes) but haven't really bothered listening to it to the OST itself properly. If you insist it's that good after finishing it though, I'll have to give it a listen. Still working my way through the 4 disc behemoth that is the SD4 Dawn of Mana OST at the moment.
The game itself looks pretty damn bad though, and Toriyama's designs... ugh. I hope he didn't get paid too much for his Blue Dragon work.

It's not just that, either. It's the fact that even all these years on, he even uses the Dragonball outfits! Hello there Mr Saiyaman, how've you been lately?
nunuu, I think they do. Everyone but the staff of Blue Dragon that is.

Everyone but the staff of Blue Dragon that is. No, see, they don't. If they did, then we would stop seeing his work on Dragon Quest and other things. For many artists, their styles usually evolve over time but this man has been squatting on a plateau for many many years. And if he HAS improved, it's a very VERY subtle improvement. >:( I think I'll add Toriyama to my "makes me angry" list.

Improved? No, if anything, he's got worse. I think that thread's going to prove to be quite popular. And I forgot about Dragon Quest, so you're probably right. Inventing Slimes is no good thing, multicoloured slimes are a feeble excuse for thinking up decent monster designs

yeah, it'd be incredibly easy for someone to mistaken Dragon Ball, Dragon Quest, Blue Dragon, and maybe even Chrono Trigger for being part of the same series (or mistaken them for being one another). I've never understood why his art is still so popular in Japan, I got bored of it quickly with Dragon Ball. I guess, It's at least different from most anime styles (there are way too many artists with the same style in Japan), but I still find it uglier so what's the point? It's become like an alternative generic style of anime and character design. and it does seem to have actually gotten worse.. atleast dragon ball's character design had a bit more muscle... this feminine-male lead character trend is getting pretty annoying. legacyofys.classicgaming.gamespy.com/ys5/images5/YS5C1.jpgpoor adol ...haha, old chap!

I'm quite a fan of Toriyama's work. The main reason is that it charms me, he reminds me of my favorite comic book artitsts. The ones where you can look at a picture and immediately know who did it, like Jack Kirby, Jim Lee, Neal Adams or Rob Liefeld. Its just nostalgic in a way, being a fan of all kinds of comics new and old. That's the best way I can describe it.

Toriyama gets old, because he doesn't do a lot of variety.
So yeah, he gets about as hacknyed and retarded as most of the comic book artists GMF mentioned.
However, he created Slime. And Drakee. And I gotta respect.

I think everyone knows Liefeld is the abomination of the comicdom. Him and his characters with really thick thighs, giant shoulder pads, and always in constipated poses. :(((
I believe he did a recent drawing of Supergirl or someone who had 7-pack abs. ._.;;;;;;;;;;;;;;

It seems everywhere the name of Liefeld is mentioned there are similar responses. I've almost finished listening to the whole Blue Dragon soundtrack, and I really love it! There is a lot of variety, with many different styles. This really feels like a Uematsu music score, all his trademarks are there. I wouldn't call this epic, and there are a couple vocal tracks that are wierd, but the soundtrack as a whole reminds you of lighthearted adventure. I think that's what he was going for anyway. Lots of great stuff here for those looking to hear the latest from Uematsu. Recommended! I'm going to put a full review of it on my page soon, if any of you are interested.

If you check youtube for Liefeld's video diaries, he explains how that Cap pic came about. For comic fans it's either a love or hate thing with him. As someone who owns at least 3,000 comic books, I'm not ashamed to admit it has always been his work that excites me the most. That's just the way it is with me. I'll always be a fan.
That's great about Blue Dragon having 3 DVDs, This music is really growing on me. I hope with the OST being two discs everything is spread out ok.

I cant believe the game is 3 DVD's. WOW! That's because Microsoft is living in the past. What the hell is a DVD anyway? I'm not familiar with this ancient technology.
