Dewy looks so cute, I'll certainly buy it when I get a Wii (probably for Super Paper Mario)

Why do all the Wii games look worse than your average (ugly) GC game?

Why do all the Wii games look worse than your average (ugly) GC game? :o But they're not about the graphics! D: Speaking of which, I STILL need to get an S-Video cable for my Wii. The composite connection is driving me mad. SUCH HIDEOUS AND BLURRY DISPLAY!!!!

Why not? I thought that was the whole idea of new video game systems. Better graphics, etc.

hmm? the wii is only on it's 3rd month and it's only a little more technically poweful than a gamecube... it can look better than gamecube though once developers have more time with the hardware. It's much more than capable to pull off better graphics than RE4 or Zelda TP. Personally, I think Dewey already looks much better than any GC game thanks to normal mapping.
or were you just referring to the artistic aspect to the graphics in GC games? RE4 and TP look extremely dull to me artistically, even though they are graphically 2 of the best games on GC, but games like Wind Waker, F-zero GX, and SSBM look brilliant.
Girian - "There's nothing interesting to me on the Wii. *yawn*"
hmm, so what would you like to see on the Wii?

Wait wait wait wait wait. Ys fans care about graphics?
That bears repeating.
Yes fans care about graphics? I was under the impression it was all about gameplay here.

graphics are nice... but If I really cared about them that much I wouldn't have put my money on a Wii. Art and mood, and how the technical aspect of the graphics help carry that out are much more important I think. For example, I feel that more 2D games usually give me a better mood and sense of a game's art than 3D games. Zelda TP had some great artistic ideas, but I'd be lying if I said some of the oddities in the graphics didn't keep me from enjoying the game's art. LttP and Wind Waker are not as powerful as TP graphically, yet I feel they bring out the art and mood much better than TP did. The Ys series also usually has great use of the technology of their platforms to bring out the best in their art.
I've just bought and have been playing Wario Ware Smooth Moves like hell and I think it's graphics are perfect for what the game is. One person playing said "you would never find anything that looks like this on PS3... but its so awesome."
damn is the wii ever fun... it was my bro's birthday yesterday and some of his friends and our relatives came over and all we did was play Wario Ware and laughed at everything... it was unanimously an instant hit... and we havent even unlocked multiplayer mode yet (i cant believe you have to unlock it first...).

I definitely care about graphics. At least for new games. In fact, that's the reason I play new games. Pretty graphics. If I want to play "ugly" games, I play old games. And I do that a lot. Not saying I dislike games because the graphics are bad, it's just that I see no point in playing new games if the graphics are as bad as the old games. I have plenty of old games to play, I don't need more old-ish games.

See -- this is what I don't get about a lot of players. If you like old school games then what's wrong with new games that LOOK like old school games? (There's a difference between hideous crap graphics and nostalgic stuff, dammit.) Think about the stories! The gameplay! It's like the games of the past that you couldn't get in the past cuz they didn't exist then!
If people want eyecandy then get a PS3 or 360. :B!
Bwahaha. Assassin's Creed. It sure looks pretty but I tell you, I'd get that game JUST to shove people around. :D

I was right! 2D games might just warm up to the Wii for their current generation console choice. "Sega will release Arc System Works' Guilty Gear XX Accent Core for Wii, the game is based on the latest arcade fighting game, and the game will be available in July 2007." source: the-magicbox.com does anyone have more info on this game? All I know is that this will be the first port of the game to a console as it only just released in Japanese arcades in December, and that it's likely going to stick with the Classic Controller (a guess on my part). I don't care much for GG, but this is proof that the old ways do not die on the Wii, the Classic Controller is compatible with Wii games for a reason... and stuff like this is one of them. SNK releasing Metal Slug Anthology for Wii before any other console might indicate some more from them in the future... hopefully. c'mon SNKP... US releases KOF XI and XII on wii with classic controls would be delicious.

GUUUUUUUUUUUUUUH.
Anyone buying stuff from the Virtual Console? I picked up Super Castlevania IV and The Legend of Zelda but find myself hating arcade-style gameplay with lack of save points/password-to-continue crap. I'm a spoiled modern gamer! (Way back in the past, I played mostly adventure and RPGs on the C64 and PC. I had no console system except the Atari 2600)
I guess I'll hold back on buying stuff until more games appear on the VC. I must say that Kirby seems interesting but I'll probably die 10,000 times before I reach the end of the game. :3

VC must be the lamest thing ever. Buy our old crap (with extreme emphasis on "crap") for TONS and T O N S of money!™ What shocks me is that people who own the original games actually buy them on VC. A Grand Mystery!

^^^ Haven't I made a large reply to something you've said along those same lines before? hmm... and I think some people redownload them because they're just that big of a fan of whatever they're downloading (this will happen most with Earthbound... watch). The only real gripe I have with VC is that the prices aren't usually satisfying... Kirby... should be extremely easy. Dream Land was one of the few games I could not only beat but play through numerously in a single day. and Zelda did have saving, and Super Castlevania IV does have password saves, but VC allows you to save at any point anyways (although it's more like a temporary save). I'm still stuck with SCIV and Bomberman 93... haven't spent that 600 points yet. and now along with Super Star Soldier and Soldier Blade I also want Kirby and Ice Climbers (sort of). Oh, and I might be picking up Wii Play today (if I can find a place with anymore in stock)

Well, maybe their old systems don't work anymore! Or maybe it's for the convenience! :B The games should be $1 - $2 each though! :D I mean, they've been OOP for a while so royalties wouldn't be received from the carts anyway, right? Or something? And I forgot there's a suspension option in VC. >_>

Well I got some VC games. It's quite convenient. One system, but many different games. I don't want to come back from work and start to change cables or consoles... I prefer pushing one button and play a "little" game for 10 minutes. I don't care about graphics nowadays. Solomon's key satisfie me.

look at this... blog.wired.com/games/2007/02/japanonly_games.html"We are aware that there are some very successful Japanese franchises that have a small following in the US, and that they could never be reached by putting these products out at retail. We're open to games released in Japan if we can get them translated properly." so now, not only is TGCD games a possibility, but so is Japanese games being translated for the VC. the chances for Ys on VC rises... and Rondo of Blood

Nintendo has recently added another free downloadable channel called "Let's Vote" or something to that effect where you can vote on daily polls and predict the results for fun. But an interesting feature about it is that you can submit your own poll questions that can be considered for votes.
This of course begs the question to be sent: "Would you find the virtual console even more appealing if more older Japanese games were translated and added to the virtual console library?" : )
I'm glad to hear that they are looking into the idea of translating some old school games that never got released though.
