I dunno, my first impression when it was initially announced was one of great excitement, which plummeted when the monster system was announced, but it's been gradually increasing since. I'm pretty excited for it, though admittedly nowhere near as much as I am for Vesperia. Which is probably going to end up on the 360. Which makes me sad. I actually have a Wii, at least. Vesperia looks SOOOO pretty. But yes; I cry at the thought of it probably being on the 360.. because I have yet to bother with anything Xbox-related. Nor do I really WANT to, but... It looks pretty!! I admittedly haven't read into the new Symphonia game since it was first announced in Japan, so I'm sure I'm missing a lot of details that might redeem it in my mind. I suppose if they DO manage to make it good, I'll have yet another reason to think about finally getting a Wii...

If the 360 had any other games I wanted on the horizon I wouldn't be bothered but... it doesn't look like it will. Namco Bandai just seem determined to release everything on the 360, sales be damned. A later PS3 release seems fairly likely though, it's what they did with Eternal Sonata after all (well, not that the PS3 version of that is out yet...) and would result in more sales in the long run. Hopefully at the very least the 360 version will be region free though so I can steal someone else's 360 to play it And as for Ratatosk... yeah. Much of it for me is going to hinge on whether you're forced to use the monsters or not, but at the very least the story is shaping up to be potentially interesting (although I'm curious about the magazine article on it that said it would have possibly 'the darkest story in the series' - moreso than Abyss? Surely not. But I think I'd love it if it was true.) with all the changes to the world, Emil's dual personality and such. I'm mostly wondering now where the villain's going to come from - making Lloyd fill that role for the whole game would be pretty unsatisfying, but no one else seems to be there or even hinted at so far. Oh well, we'll know in just under 3 months when it comes out. Basically, full party of playable characters + free run + interesting plot = me happy. Oh, and not forcing you to use the Wiimote for battles, because the default control scheme sounds horrible.

AND irritated with Namco Bandai for throwing their games around on platforms I just plain don't own. (Still, out of any of the next gen consoles, the Wii is very likely going to be the first one I grab. It has more games I actually give a damn about, and also doesn't quite cost enough to put me out of a month's pay.) Here's hoping the plot lives up to the standards they keep setting for themselves, though. I loved Symphonia, but Abyss trumped it a hundred times over in my view; the story in that game was beautifully done, and it makes me sad to see how many people seem to think the game was mediocre. They just HAVE to keep the free run battle system they introduced in Abyss, though. Holy crap, but that's so much FUN. But I agree-- no required wiimoting, PLEASE. I'm still attached to ye olde game controllers, thank you...

and also doesn't quite cost enough to put me out of a month's pay.) . Don't know about USA, but at least here the Xbox 360 Arcade ( which is exactly the same as Premium, but comes with a 256 MB memory card instead of a 20 GB hard drive) costs quite a bit less than the Wii. $220 and $250, respectively. If you like RPGs (or just games in general) I (and the rest of the world) strongly advice to get a 360 rather than a Wii. It offers far better games and has a very bright future unlike the rather sad Wii. Even PS3 is a better choice.

From everything I've heard about the 360, I used to recommend it far over the PS3 especially because it had more quality games out of the two... but now it's just too hard to ignore how shoddy the hardware is on the 360. 90% of 360 owners I know are on practically their 6th unit. One guy I know sent his in for repair this month, just got a new unit, and it crapped out on him in 24 hours. It's gotta be the most unreliable system ever. I think I've made up my mind that If I have to pick one of the two up, it'll be the PS3... but much much later when the price is better, or preferably when there's a PSThree.
I have yet to find a strong reason to get either one though. KoFXII might be the reason I need... but I'm still hoping a Wii version is possible.

I'm still attached to ye olde game controllers, thank you... Yeah, I loved Abyss too (I actually played Symphonia first and couldn't quite get into it, bought Abyss a few years later, then eventually went back to Symphonia and did manage to get into it, then ended up loving that too - but not quite as much as Abyss). Free run's definitely in Ratatosk though, it's pretty much been confirmed from the start (and is shown in one of the trailers). Namco Bandai seem to be on a quest to make people buy every console when it comes to the Tales series - there's all the remakes and such on the PSP, Innocence on the DS, Ratatosk on the Wii, Vesperia probably on the 360, and probably then a PS3 port with extras ala the PS2 version of Symphonia. I'm looking forward to it anyway - at the very least it should be fun, even if it doesn't live up to its potential or the legacy of Symphonia before it. And well, the Wii isn't so cheap with all the shortages - can but hope that they'll be somewhat sorted out by the time Ratatosk gets a US release. 90% of 360 owners I know are on practically their 6th unit. One guy I know sent his in for repair this month, just got a new unit, and it crapped out on him in 24 hours. Ha ha oh wow. Was it a new, new one do you know? (ie with the new heatsink and the Falcon chipset) Because I'd be stunned if it was, I was under the impression they were finally doing things to actually stop the rampant redringing. Not that I'm hugely bothered, the few 360 games I might be interested in are available on PS3 anyway, except potentially for Vesperia.

It's the latest unit, but it's actually a one ring of death that he's getting, as well as booting problems and error codes. He said it's probably a firmware update problem, but that's odd that the latest unit type isn't compatible with the latest firmware. I also still find it really odd that Japanese developers are still trying to sell their games exclusively on the 360... the system's sales have done better in Japan than it's predecessor but even after exclusives like Blue Dragon it's hardly becoming a good alternative base of consumers for Japanese devs. If Vesperia is exclusive to 360 right now I can almost guarantee a PS3 version some day.
and I've heard that Nintendo actually shortened supply for January outside of Japan so that they could get more units out in Japan for Brawl's release. Supply should be back up by Brawl's stateside release.
It's funny that people talk about Wii's "supply issues" getting "sorted out", though. I mean they are probably producing the highest amount of consoles per month than any other company ever has for any home console.

Wow, there's still a Wii shortage? It's super easy to get a system around here, but then again, Wii sales in Sweden are incredibly poor. We like graphics around here. About the 360 breaking down, I think it is great. Since the warranty is for three years, you don't need to worry, you'll just get a refurbished system right away (that's right - they almost never give away new systems - you get a repaired one with a brand new shell, if you're lucky). And every time your console breaks down, Microsoft loses money. Which is just awesome. Besides, it's easy to flash your system without voiding the warranty, so that you can play downloaded games on it - and still be able to get a replacement when you get RLOD. Which is even more awesome, since MS loses money for every system sold, and they lose money for every system repaired, and they don't earn any money since you play pirated games. I wish everybody would do the same!

It's not about the graphics! It's about TEH FUN. Anyway, I dunno how it is in the puny cities and towns in my province, but godDAMN, most major electronic retailers (including Wal-Mart) in my city STILL do NOT have Wiis in stock. >:E There's actually a little Wii Stock Availability checker app for Canada that someone whipped up over at one of our bargain hunting sites, RedFlagDeals.com. So far, only The Source (a.k.a. Radio Shack) has some. :O Hopefully, now that Smash Bros is out, we'll start seeing stock again. 9_9

Sounds like someone's been brainwashed by Nintendo's marketing. Good grafficks = fun! As an example, I'm going to say Oblivion. I LOVE that game. It's SOOO much fun to just walk around in it. Just explore the woods, look at stuff, etc. It would've been SUPER BORING if the graphics hadn't been so good, because that game is seriously crippled! SUCH a flawed game! And yet, it's phucking awesome. I bet it would have gone completely unnoticed if it looked like Mario or whatever. Granted, there are fun games with "bad graphics" too, but at least for me, that only applies to 2d games. I can barely stand a 3d game with poor graphics. I remember a few years ago, when Nintendo hadn't said a word about Wii, then everybody thought that graphics was the main and most important thing of all in a game. People were complaining about the PS2 because it was way weaker than the Xbox and Gamecube... but then Nintendo showed up and started saying, "it's all about the fun and not the graphics" - that's why we will STAY in the current generation and release the Gamecube once again, but with a new shell and a new controller. Then, suddenly it's forbidden to like graphics, and whenever you say a game (especially a Nintendo game) is ugly - you're a troll and a graphics whore. Aaah, kids these days. So easy to manipulate. I wonder what will happen next generation. Will Nintendo release another Gamecube? Or will they make a console with decent specs for once? If they do - will all their fans get pissed and yell - please degrade your hardware! It's capable of rendering far too advanced graphics - we hate that! Screw you Nintendo, we're going to use V-Tech hardware from now on!

The Wii has a handful of great games for it, although there is more third party crap games for it which brings the quality of overall software down for the system.
The PS3 needs more exclusive games for me to get interested. I'm looking forward to Singstar and Metal Gear Solid 4 before I buy it.
The 360 is the best system right now in terms of overall software. All of the multi platform games released prior to this year were optimized better for the 360 over the PS3. PS3 has caught up with quality in their multi platform games but I'd rather get the 360 version for the achievements. As soon as or if the quality of multi platform games exceeds the 360 then the PS3 will catch up on sales.

I like how Seldane is trolling his own forum by claiming graphics and specs even mean anything. I mean, there's so much history to back that up! The Jaguar, Phillips CDi, 3DO...
I salute your rabble rousing, my friend =]

BS. I am telling The Truth™
CD-i has never been capable of anything but displaying PICTURES (which can not be considered good grafficks) (it is not a video game system and none of the "games" released for it contain anything that could be considered gameplay), 3DO was junk with ports of ugly games (that magically got uglier just because it appeared on the 3DO) and The Jaguar was a joke in every aspect....WITH poor graphics. Also, all these systems are ancient, good grafficks couldn't be made around this time.

Well there's also just about everything Sega made except for arguably the Genesis. Although I hate mentioning them because console wars aside, I do have a fondness for them.

Sounds like someone's been brainwashed by Nintendo's marketing. ;) Good grafficks = fun! Hey man, as long as something is fun, I don't give an Amaterasu's dung about graphics. :B This is horrible. You're making it sound like the only thing that matters in it are the graphics! :( x 9999 I'm the opposite! If the game is bug-filled, has the load time of a snail-turtle hybrid, or just plain sucks cuz it sucks for suck's sake, then I will drop that game like a rock no matter how visually beautiful it is!!!
