Are you talking about Final Fantasy VII Advent Children? Wasn't it released months ago? I'm pretty sure I've seen the DVD for sale.

Oh yeah! Well I got a kickin' rad book on Zoroastrianism from the library today, so THERE! >=P
Also, AC is all about Cloud being like level 70 and flaunting it. It's kinda sad that the other party members don't get much screentime.
Of course, I maintain the whole thing is fan fiction, and the only party member to survive the end of FFVII was Nanaki =(

I got it, I was over at Wally World(Walmart) & I didn't even know it was coming out today or whatever, but, I was in the media section, saw it, & saw that it was 14 bucks for the supposed "limited edition" version, so, I picked it up Even though, I'd rather they look more like how they looked in the game, & frankly, I want another game, not a MOVIE! Yeah, I know, Dirge of Cerverus, Before Crisis, & Crisis Core, but, I want a real sequal as well!

That IS one of the longstanding theories about the ending to FF7, definitely... and in some ways, that really WOULD have made the most sense, and been the most poignant possible ending to the game. I think I'll buy into your theory there... AC never happened. Everybody's dead. -Tom Your theory is proven wrong!!! If you don't believe me, wait til Dirge of Cerberus comes out, as the trailer was good as hell. Also, Crisis Core is suppose to explain what happened in Nibelheim, six years prior to FF7.

FF7 did and at the same time it didn't.
Just like how Star Wars III: ROTS explained how Anakin became Vader in details, Crisis Core will explain how Sephiroth became what he was and what happened in that Mako Reactor.

I think you're getting Crisis Core, mixed up with Before Crisis. Before Crisis is 6 years before FF7. I'm not sure where Crisis Core is after FF7 though timewise.

From what I've heard, Crisis Core is supposed to be set in the past.
I am unsure about the Nibelheim bits, but I wouldn't doubt it.

I preordered mine only to get it the day after it was released well as it turns out I agree that the movie is not that great, which i was prepared for. I try to look at it as a piece of really good computer animation. It looks really good in hi def too. and to be honest, its unfair for me to say its not a good movie, because it put me in a coma about halfway through. I'm gonna get some caffeine and try to watch it again today though. I say its worth the purchase.

Man... I can't believe you guys are so hard on this movie. I love it, watched it 3 times and every time it just gets that much better. I will admit, its fairly slow up until the summon, but that last hour or so is incredible. Great fight scenese, and the music was hands down AWESOME. I thought it went along with the story just fine, more of an off-shoot of the original story. Remenants of Jenova, looking for Jenova or lesser-Serphiroth's aspiring to be like him.
And Renne cracked me up. "These things... They uhh, have any bite to em?" Man, what a great way for a great character to go. I thought the movie was excellent. Sure, it was slow at first and a little confusing. But after watching it a couple of times it makes more sense the more I watch it.
Also, I thought the addtion of FF7 Reminencense(?) was a GREAT addition. Watch it, its the FF7 story in its entirety where the filmed the major points of the game. If you watch that, then you watch the movie it makes a lot more sense. Its been a LONG time since I played it, and it made me remember a lot of stuff. Characters, events, personalities, etc.
I give it a 5/5. Sorry, no if and or buts about it. Great job Square.

Reminiscence? What is that? Is that the "Last Order" anime OAV, or is it something else? On the DVD, you'll see an option for this. Its basically highlights of the game that they recorded so that people unfamiliar (or that don't remember) the original story to FFVII could remember. They put the scenese to music and is about 20 minutes long. I watched it remembering a LOT of stuff that I had forgotton prior to watching the movie. I can understand and appreciate this. It is very action oriented, but the story was explained in the first 30 minutes of the movie. After the planet (or the planet's "Mako") rebelled against Jenova and aiding to destroy it, Jenova apparently has some remenants that are in some of the soldiers from the original project. Now that the planet has fought against Jenova and all but destroyed it, Jenova is fighting back in a subtle way - an uncurable disease, or gift as the remenants called it. And their ultimate goal is to awaken Jenova, and remanifest Sephiroth. The plot for this really wasn't that complex, so not much time was needed explaining things. As far as the action scenes, sure - I think they probably were a little too long. But you have to remember what you're looking at - things in the game making their way into the movie. Like Cloud's sword splitting into several and all of them hitting Sephiroth towards the end. That was his limit breaker - Knights of the Round They obviously wanted to keep a lot from the game in the movie, and I personally loved the cameo of the other characters. The story, in effect, is about the remenants of Jenova - not everyone from the original game. Sephiroth, the 3 new guys we're introduced to, and Cloud are all we know of that fit that category. In short - its Cloud's fight. He threw away his "hero" status for a normal life and more/less left everyone after saying he'd be back. Now his hand is forced back to defeat this new nemesis and finds something in him he had lost.

Like I said. Cloud is level 70+ and showing it off. A translation really wasn't needed.

DUDE, if you hate fanservice so much then why is it that WE got Ys VI to be localized in the first place?
I personnally think Square Enix did a good job! No More! No Less!

And I think the reason I didn't like Advent Children is because it was nothing BUT fight scenes... I mean, there were literally points in that movie where the plot was put on hold for a good 20 minutes while some baddie was vanquished (most notably, the summon!). And no matter how good a fight scene is, it sucks IMHO if it doesn't add to the story -- which is why I dislike Advent Children, and why I also dislike the first Matrix movie (except for the oracle scene and the backstory). Yes, the movie is very fight-scene rich, and sort of skimps on character developement as a result. I think that in the matrix, however, it was both cool and necessary as a vehicle for neo's character to develop as well as to give the audience the feeling of his power to manipulate the artificial world, but i'm getting off track here. I finally finished it, and it was great to watch for me, simply because of the visual quality of the world and characters and being sucked into the rich world the animators created, as well as some decent music. Also, AC is all about Cloud being like level 70 and flaunting it. It's kinda sad that the other party members don't get much screentime. Actually, it kind of seemed from the limited amount of character developement that Cloud was not showing off but in fact indifferent to his ability, that he wanted nothing to do with another battle, had to be dragged into it because of what he lost in the previous battle. At least that's what I got from it. As for the purpose of this movie's creation, from watching the making of featurette on the extras disc, it seemed like the animators at Square Enix wanted a bigger playground for their creativity, because they felt bound by the limitations of what they could do on a playstation game. They wanted to show off, as the director put it, they approached it with an "anything goes" attitude.
