Yeah...it's kinda weird. Alot. It's funny, too, because the TV version so incredibly censored they actually entire fights where all you see is a dramatic shot of the moon while the voices keep going, lol. Meanwhile, they air the uncensored version on the internet a week later and it's all boobs boobs and lots more boobs. There is NO inbetween, lol. You either get hentai level of boobage or Nice Boat. It can't be worse than Dragonaut. Can it?

That said, I did buy some... Geijitsuka Art Design class. I think I mentioned that in an earlier post? I tracked down the first colume though, and read a bit of it. It's cute. Yes. G.A is awesome, and more people should know about it.

Just watched the first disc of Le Chevalier D'eon.
Loved it.
Now I can't wait for Netflix to send me the next volume. The thematic composition, and even some of the themes themselves, remind me very much of Xenosaga (despite settings that can't get more contrary).

Sounds kinda neat. And now I know where your avatar is from! And man, Ain looks a LOT like lain. Which I'm guessing is kind of intentional. -Tom Yeah, even ther names are quasi-similar Some more images are available on Despera's official website. They're all good, but I love this one :

A friend, whose opinion I greatly trust, recommended Koi Kaze. I trust his opinion a little less now.
I'm still gonna give the series a fair chance and try to get past the themes of incest and relationships between a 27 year old and a 15 year old

Ehh... Kodomo no Jikan wasn't much better. And it's one of the few anime I've actually liked.

That... doesn't sound too great Wyrd. I'll be honest.
However, I do like Scrubs, that whole "cuddly blanket" thing is just like that for Scrubs and me. I wonder how the new cast will do...

I've really been wanting to start watching it, but I'm so caught up with other things that I STILL have yet to finish Gundam 00 (which I love to bits) and catch up with Axis Powers Hetalia (which I also love to bits). However, chances are Hayate and R.O.D. The TV will be next in line whenever I get to it. Maybe over spring break, but I also have 7 new games to beat.

So I recently bought this Gundam novel (0083, it's called), but realized that I don't quite get what's going on since I'm not familiar with the universe. Now I'm trying to get into the whole franchise, but don't know where to start, since there's just too much of it. Any Gundam fans out there? Suggestions on specific series, order of watching, etc, are most welcome. Thanks.

G Gundam and 00 are the best. Then again, I didn't like the old series quite as much, and am not a rabid fanboy of Wing, so ehh.
And supposedly 00 is 'Wing for the current generation' or some shit. It's the most political and dramatic series, but I love it to death.

Well, I've never been a huge fan of giant mecha (rather prefer VOTOMS-like stuff), but I love politicized stuff. I mean, hey, GITS:SAC2 is #2 on my top 10 list.
So, I guess I'll go and try to dig around for the old Gundam series... Thanks for the tips!
I'm still wondering though, how much connection is there b/w sequels? Will I miss out on anything if I skip a series?

I know next to nothing about the Gundam series as I tended to shrug off anything that was ever aired here. I've never been too big on mecha either, to be honest. Adult swim aired 0083 Stardust Memory once, though, and much to my surprise I thoroughly enjoyed it! So.. good find!

Gundam Wing takes place in its own universe, and is part of a celebration set of Gundam series. (After Colony Century) G Gundam takes place in its own century, along with Gundam W, and Gundam X. Gundam X could be perceived as the outcome of a "bad" ending to Gundam W. (Future Centruy, After Colony, After War Century respectively) Gundam 0079, Z, ZZ, 08th MS Team, Mobile Suit Gundam 0080: War in the Pocket, Victory Gundam, F91, and Unicorn (Plus tons more) all take place in the same universe. (Universal Century) Turn A Gundam bridges all of those universes together. (Correct Century) Seed is a "rehash" of sorts for the first Gundam series, with Seed Destiny as Z. They take place in their own universe. (Cosmic Era) 00 is somewhat like Gundam W, but it is directly linked with our actual timeline. (Anno Domini) NOTE: There are a buttload, like I mean big buttload, of Gundam movies, manga, and OVA that fit in with these series. I could be here listing them all day, but I'm too lazy. Wikipedia separates them at the bottom of the Gundam page though, so read up if you are interested: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GundamHooookay, anyways, I've been watching Record of Lodoss War again. Years later, and I still love it to death. Enjoy the opening and ending:

Oh, OK, so gundam's all messed up with a buttload of alternate universes and crap. I guess I should just watch them in order release and figure out the crap later *sigh*. Or perhaps just stick to the UC ones, since it seems like there's the most of them, and they're directly tied to the original.

Yeah, watch all of UC.

I prefer what I've seen of UC because it's more Real Robot and war drama while later series are your normal Shounen affair and closer to Super Robot.
Zeta Gundam is often a fan favorite, and it's the second series of UC. What got recommended to me (and what I did) is to watch the movies for the original series. That gives you the gist of the plot and characters while cutting out some of the cornier things in the series. Each movie is a re-edited compilation of the TV series. And then jump right into Zeta. The whole TV series is being legally streamed, subbed until April 22nd right now
I didn't care much for Wing (other than the SFC fighting game) and while I liked SEED when it first aired, it seems so crappy now.. and SEED Destiny was always a crap fest. 00 season 2 is good. Season 1 almost exists just for the sake of setting up season 2. I've never seen a show with such unnatural character dialog info dumps of the political climate of the world as 00 season 1.

While I was a little old for Seeds plot, I will speak up for the battle scenes. It was the first Gundam to be fully computer animated, and it shows. The fighting is simply amazing, fluid, fast, and friggin' intense!

The fighting is simply amazing, fluid, fast, and friggin' intense! I joke about watching the series just for the last 5 episodes or so. Between the space battles and the Yuki Kajiura soundtrack Though it's funny how bad the non-battle scenes look on DVD now

Yes, it was far too dawn out as a series. I'm sure that is why 00 ended up being half of the length Seed was.
