This just came up from the back of my mind all of a sudden. Ys 1, 2, and Origin show them quite prominently, but I don't think I've seen them in any of the other games, which is quite strange considering they all take place in the same world. Is there a story behind them that I missed, or is it just for kicks?
Likelyhood of myself just thinking too hard over nothing: high.

Final Fantasy IV DS also has them. What they're for, I have no idea. Perhaps one moon for each goddess? There are so many unanswered Ys questions. I wonder if they will ever be brought up in future games. Here's another question. In the three latest Ys games, all of the bosses have subtitles, and they're usually "The X of Y", with X being a title, and Y being a location (I assume). I wonder if these locations will be of any significance.

Never played FF4 DS, but that's interesting, especially if older versions didn't ;o
Might as well make this the random questions thread, because I came up with another: is there more than one Black Pearl?
SPOILERS for Ys 2 (if for some reason there are people here that haven't played it >_>, highlight below)
Obviously there's the big one that's used as the core of Darm's body, but the (seemingly smaller) one that you combine with the Dreamstone Idol or whatever it was called to uncurse people is a different Black Pearl, is it not? Where did it come from?

I seem to have forgotten a lot of stuff about the Ys story, but maybe the black pearl is just made out of black emelas? In that case, it ought to be possible to make quite a few of those.

They ripped off Star Wars, which ripped off early Star Trek, which ripped off rocket adventure movies of the 50's. There is duel moons in lots of content, but when it comes to Ys, I cannot remember if they had any significance.

According to Adoru, the Falcom boss and founder (I don't remember his name right now) is a big Star Wars fan. According to him, Falcom is a portmanteau of Millenium Falcon.

I am sure they ripped off the Darius series on that note. They were only missing out on WARNING WARNING A BIG SHIP APPROACHES.

Okay, I haven't played Ys Origin that much so maybe it doesn't have them. But Ys VI and YsF certainly does. IN ENGLISH, to boot. With such a tiny font though, and it only shows for a moment, so it is pretty hard to read them.

You know, I would love to finally see an Ys parody title. It could be like a simple DLC mini quest, and full of inside jokes, and really dumb boss fights. I could see it now, Dogi VS the Wall.... reinforced with steel.

The Moon is cool.
Ergo, two moons would be cooler than one.
DON'T ARGUE WITH MATH.
The real question is: What is Adol going to find when he explores them?

Why not Zeace, or "Y's"? Xs just sounds like "Excess". Will the hero be a blue-haired swordsman? XD It's gotta be some funky, unthinkable color.

I'd be disappointed if Adol didn't meet space pirates on the moon. "Zs" should star a blue-haired swordswoman named Feen--er, "Fear." She shall kick ass and take names for karmic justice out of the blue (pun intended) after having done nothing useful in her earlier days

HA! The Lawn of Ys. XD
Ador is washed ashore to a land that has an out of control lawn and he has to mow it down somehow! D:

They probably didn't think of emelas until Ys VI. With it, they could easily answer a whole bunch of issues, that they hadn't come up with an answer to yet.

Does the Ys Complete Works book feature anything from the original 1987 Ys manual?
It contains several pages of storyline, that cannot be seen in the game. I have always wondered what it said.

I think the timeline in the Complete Works book also hints that Feena and Reah stole the Black Pearl from the Atlas Continent, when they ran away. They have a lot of respect for humans, which is a very 'un-Eldeen' thing, according to that timeline. ...though humans were greedy bastards. They did eventually destroy the Atlas Continent when trying to take over the Ark of Napishtim, and all. God- you know I've *yet* to finish that damn timeline? I really should. D: T____T I'd love you forever if you ever do finish it The twins stole the Black Pearl AND ran away from their own kind? That's news to me. Granted as greedy as humans were, the Eldeenians certainly didn't sound much nicer either in Mask of the Sun, what with the enslaving and farming of humans.
