Or Shinji Motoyama, I suppose. playstationlifestyle.net/2010/09/14/valkyria-chronicles-3-confirmed-not-for-ps3/Goddamnit! MSN discussion with a friend sums up my thoughts: Ashurei says: "This is the third game in the series, but only the second one on the PSP," he told Famitsu. "I figured that we should introduce new things to the series and let it mature more [on the PSP] What the FUCK does that mean? Only the second on the PSP? Why not ONLY the second on the PS3? WHY NOT MAKE A PRETTY GAME AGAIN. FUCK YOU ... Ashurei says: It's not school. I can deal with PSP if and only if not school (ok, check) FULL MAPS, NOT SEGMENTS PLEASE. HOLY FUCK. And epic battles. Nothing about VC2 is epic. Ever. There are no hard missions. Ever. I am not happy right now.

I take it you've come around to my way of thinking on the second game now then? You can stop pretending now, your secret's out! That was my first reaction until I saw the scans though. Now I'm actually interested. Just to paste all the crap I did for NeoGAF seen as this might as well be the Valkyria 3 thread! It doesn't sound perfect, but it sounds like a lot of steps towards the first game and away from the second. Which is good. I can live with it being on PSP if it's actually a good game, something the second one was not.

Yeaaaaaaah, I'm actually only about halfway through 2 and I've pretty much already mentally checked out of it. There's just not enough going on to really compel me to finish it. Especially since HJ told me it just gets easier after the April story mission (which wasn't terribly difficult to begin with). There's just so much wasted potential in the game.
And no, I do admit that it looks to be vastly better than 2 just from the scans alone. I made my concerns noted above. I, too, can deal with PSP if the game is solid. Like wyrd, I am madly in love with PSP. But when it comes to VC< I'm not gonna lie... I wanted another absolutely beautiful game. I'm not opposed to the PSP graphics, and I actually think given the PSPs limitations they pulled off VC2 quite nicely aesthetically speaking, but when you're expecting a new Ps3 game and denied one, it's still kinda lame. :/
I overshadowed how much I actually liked what the scans had to show, I think, heh. I know I'll still probably get it, but I wanted more, I guess.
Oh well.

Actually Valkyria 3 is nothing compared to what they just did to Yakuza. It's now a zombie massacring game. Zombies. In Yakuza. Zombies.

Ashurei: Yeah, I was sitting here in full on hype mode for a new PS3 installment that a separate team led by VC1's producer Nonaka (who seems to have vanished off the face of the planet) had been working on in the background so seeing PSP was a massive blow.
Still, even if it's not exactly the game I wanted this does sound like it could be a good game. I'm holding out until the TGS conference in about 24 hours time to see what that has to show.
Wyrdy: Nothing + Zombies = Awesome. I hate zombies.

I'm psyched for Yakuza: Of The End! Dude, you nuts? I mean, you might not like zombies, but that means you're probably worth less than one of them!

I do too, when they're done poorly. Which they USUALLY are. But if you think about it, the whole plotline around Valestein Castle in Ys: The Oath in Felghana is about zombies... as is one particularly memorable scene from Zwei II. And those were both really kickass moments in really kickass games. -Tom Well those are cute little sprites! These are nasty realistic looking icky zombies.

Aw man, I wanted it to be on the PS3. I like pretty graphics, and the PSP can't handle battles as beautiful and epic as the ones in VC1; it simply lacks the power to do so. From what was said though, it does sound like it'll be an improvement over VC2. The stupid school setting and mission system is gone so that should help it some. They say maps will still be divided into areas, but does that mean all of them, or just some? Regardless, even if they do make the areas wider, I hope we get some more variety, which I sorely missed in VC2.
They might as well just say "we don't wanna blow too much money on a PS3 sequel in case the sales are just gonna suck again" instead of giving us that nonsense about maturing though, that's just a slap in the face. Unless, of course, he meant to say they want to prove they can make a good VC game for the PSP.

They say maps will still be divided into areas, but does that mean all of them, or just some? Doesn't say, just that the system will remain but they'll be wider - and it does sound like the areas will be more varied too, though only time will tell, words are cheap. Also the full excuse as to why they stopped developing the series for the PS3 is utter bullshit. Here it is copypasted from Andria Sang because I'm lazy:

I will never, read: NEVER, understand that sort of mentality.
"If it isn't broken, don't fix it."
Innovation does not make a good game. Create a new, well-written scenario using the same engine. Create new maps. INSTANT GOOD GAME. Does it help to add new ideas that work well and change how games are played? YES. It is EVER necessary to make a good game? NO!
Bullshit, indeed. Super bullshit 64.

I love what it says about their PSP games too. 'Hey guys we can't think of anything new and innovative enough to warrant a console installment, so we're going to keep churning out aging and uninnovative crap for the PSP instead! Please buy our game!'
Real encouraging that is. Thankfully it's just crap they thought up to avoid telling us the real reason, so I'm paying it no mind.

Wow, I think that has to be one of the worst excuses I've heard in a long time. The excuses I used to make for not having done my homework were better!
Hm, at least I still haven't tried the VC1 DLC, so I still have a new PS3 experience waiting for me.

I downloaded Edy's Mission and played it today. While playing it I also looked at character models and some other stuff from the main story, which made me realize just how much was lost from the transition to PSP. Oh, Canvas engine, how I miss you...

And you get shittier sales for it! Only IN AMERICA. And Sega of Japan (like a lot of Japanese companies) really seems to have their xenophobia blinders on tight, so they see nothing outside of their little island nation I was gonna make a topic titled this but in reference to something completely different. I was gonna bitch about how they removed almost all the voice acting in PSP2 and how that destroys the biggest WHAM scenes in the game
