Very soon we will finally be able to taste the wonderfull english patch, it is done, curently in testing before release. www.figlidigaucci.eu/O ffTopic, My Intro:I frequent this site for over half a year now, didn't bother to make a account until now xD...so this will also be my introduction. I am a Ys Fan, i have played every possible Ys game... cept for Origin since i awaited the patch, and Ys Seven...cuz i don't own a PSP. I was introduced to the world of Ys a year ago and loved it tremendously, il keep it short, so that's that. Enjoy the news . EDIT: It seems the topic below mine, also had a guy post about the news...but the title was missleading so i had no ideea, i just started reading some old topics and noticed so meh... il leave this here since the title is more apropriate and might get attention xD.

Yea that was me. While it is good news that the patch has entered beta, I just want to remind everybody that this particular group is very thorough when it comes to beta. Their Ys6 patch was in beta for a month and a half. Their Italian Ysf patch was in beta for SIX months. They definitely believe in getting it right the first time instead of releasing 2 or 3 revisions. I don't mean to be a wet blanket but I don't want people to start demanding the patch if it's not out next week. I definitely want to play this game in English. I don't want to see the people behind this project quit because of forum drama.

Now that's a fuckin' introduction! Welcome aboard, frostblaze, and thanks for the great news. Thanks Bugs, as well--though I didn't see your post. Even if the beta takes a year, I'm just glad to hear SOMETHING about the project. I never expected it to hit so suddenly. Nobody likes being left completely in the dark, but it ensures that when the lights do blaze on, it's friggin' blinding!

Great news!
Any information on what version is patchable? I own the DVD-ROM Vista version, whatever that is.. I installed it once but never played it since I wouldn't understand any of the dialogue.

Yeah, I saw the news first on Deuce's twitter actually, then later Doppiapunta posted that on the website.
Even though I know that the patch is probably gonna be at least a month away, I can't help but check every day. =p
Like was said, it could take a month, it could take six months. Really comes down to how busy with other things the testers are, and if any particularly nasty bugs are found. I've heard of some patches being in beta for 1-2 weeks, others 6+ months, due to some really nasty game-breaking bugs.
It's just good to know that it's coming and it's almost done. Between this, some progress news on Ys V, La-Mulana, and a PC version of another retro-style game coming out in June too, got lots to look forward to.

Welcome FrostBlaze! I too am awaiting the release of the patch. Looking at those screens shots was pretty exciting! Once installed it will be worth all the wait I'm sure!

Looking at those screens shots was pretty exciting! Screenshots?! The Mantis Chamber can kiss my...nevermind. Were the circles around the numbers (ex, on the 7th and 8th floors) a Japanese convention, then?

Hi Guys this is Doppiapunta. As you read on my website Ys Origin translation is in btesting. It will take some time so don't expect the translation to be released in the near future. the game is quite long and there are three main stories to test. I din't get the meanin' of the comments over screenshots by Bucketmouse but I won't care about them. Stay tuned. bye Bye

It's been a while, but as I recall there were the 2 main characters, then you could play as the Claw afterwards. Then there's the bonus disc that enables you to play as Adol.

I din't get the meanin' of the comments over screenshots by Bucketmouse but I won't care about them. Uh, I never asked you or anyone else to care. I was just wondering about the parentheses. The original had circles instead. Is that how the Japanese do parenthetical expressions--in circles--or was that just selected as a better alternative? I thought they used parentheses, too. Just wondering. EDIT: Pretty certain English isn't his first language (y'know, given that his site is mainly in Italian and most of the other works he does is translated into Italian), so I don't think it was meant in that kind of tone. No need to let it "get to you". *shrug* Alright, that's fair. Sorry if I came off a little, yanno...

I have a 4 year University degree in Information Technology and I've been involved in several Software Beta Tests in the past. I have the XP version of the game with the extras disk patched to version 1.1.0.3 I'm running windows Vista 64 bit.

Don't let it get to you. Fanslators are above us mere mortals. Just know your place and genuflect before the glory of the coming patch!

Well I don' t really think that people should gebuflect in front of me since I'm a fantranslator. Maybe in the past someone let you think that way but it's not the case. Anyway... Yeah.. English is not my first language so i can probably not understand all the things in the right way as their were intended to be, but some sarcastic tones are pretty clear to me. Let's come back over the main topic.. No other btester are needed, this is a closed beta. Final version will come out after we will be sure things are workin' properly. Actually win 7 640bit ed is shittin' me but we will beat it.

Not you, the PATCH! Don't get me wrong, you and your team deserve the utmost adoration and reverence for serving as harbingers of the mighty Patch. --Some faiths put the Virgin Mary above Yeshua. But the Patch itself has been awaited with such fervent zeal and frothing anticipation since the time of Its prophecy that It's practically an idol. Moses is going to be really pissed when he comes down from the mountain and we're all playing Ys Origin!

Heard the news from Deuce's twitter a while ago. Thanks for the effort. Now I just want to know, does our current savefiles will work? Or will do we have to clear them and start from Scratch? I really want to keep my time attack scores.

Scores will work with the translated version. The only inconvenience will be the fatc that the location in the savegame will remain in japanese. This is caused by the fact the engine wrote in the save file the name of the location, the name is not loaded and changed dinamically at every change. You will have to load the save file and once loaded, save again over it. In this way you will have the same savepoint with the new name. However...we will explain this better in the future. Bye Bye
