Yup, a bit of Ark and removal of healing items would be the best, like in Oath.

Perhaps I should update my backloggery... Wonder when the next big Falcom announcement will be, Trails 2 is good and all but something else would be welcome, more Brandish, Ys...something?

That was your last straw? Ever since two years ago when they started "trying" to tackle japanese only games, huge cracks appeared.
As for their translations and after they started taking corporate sides, their reviews became even more lol-worthy.

I'd keep the party system but have it as an option, kinda like the Boss Rush in Celceta where you can do an Adol run. Something like that, but for the entire game.

Well, holy molly, that is interesting and so awesomely hot blooded in just 5 minutes, too bad this wasn't the Strider NES people got, it seemed to even have a Mega Man brand thing going on judging by the theme. Even it isn't Strider-esque in the least apart from the costume and Strider himself, it could be a pretty nice game. Now I hope some japanese dude remakes that song and sings it as well, only for JAM Project to take notice of it and make an infinitely better version of it.

Excellent, my Vita purchasing interest is rising yet again...now for some more Ys games and I'm set...perhaps? Despite having Gravity Rush, Ys Celceta and a port of J-Stars in there...I'm just not feeling this console.

There's only one thing that worries me at the moment : is the LCD screen of the Vita going to be like the OLED one and start fading out / blacking out after 2 to 3 years, or is going to be like a proper LCD one and just be fine?

Is it true that the slim Vita has an LCD screen? As in, the same as the PSP's LCD or just a "touch" LCD screen?

This seems like a f*cking awesome game...same I didn't know about it whne I was younger, woulda had a blast : If only Namco would release it as a PSONE classic on the PSN... Honestly though, it would be way cooler for it to get a remake like the Capcom oldies did on the PSP, that genealogy system was awesome.

I think you are overreacting. Yes, there a couple of bugs, like when you are getting in & out of houses and when you are fighting many monsters the game slows down, but it's still playable and you can have fun. I played PSP & PS2 versions, first PSP version and later PS2 version, the only reason why I played them both is because PS2 has voice acting. If PSP version had voice acting I wouldn't play PS2 version. You also mentioned better controls in the other versions and I mentioned it as well. Here's the thing, like I said before, I first finished it years ago and when it's now that I came back to it that I found how horribly botched this port is for a good deal of mechanical reasons. If this were any other game, I probably wouldn't care as much but the Ys series are pretty hardcore game that rely on skill and twitch reflexes. Guess how fun they are when this is taken away due to slowdowns and glitches. That's my beef with this port. Personally, I'll go with the version that runs great and has no technical issues, even if it costs things like voice acting etc. As for fun to be had...I guess...I did enjoy it at first when I got it but by the end I dropped it...it was due to the feeling of that nostalgic fun that I decided to pick it up again. And it's a shame since the on-the-fly sword switching is pretty good as an idea. PS : If Ys V could be remade with the Celceta engine but feature both Ys Ark's sword changing gimmick and Ys Oath's magic changing gimmick with both the shoulder buttons...to mix and match sword type and elements...it would be really awesome! It would be DMC4 on Ys...plus we get to use the Ys swordcrafting forumla again to enhance the sword types again.

I...I can't decide between Ys Oath's and Ys 7's OSTs at all...one is simply nothing sort of amazing and perhaps the best Ys music while the other is just a personal favourite.

Coming from the other Ys games and generally other PSP games...no. Sorry to say, but KONAMI screed the pooch with this port. Majorly. The loading times, I can bear but the camera, the sprites and the speed of the game are so gamebreaking and slow it actually causes problems in the gameplay department, no kidding. I lost 3 times in Napishtim just because the game couldn't register how fast I was changin weapons, while attacking, moving and jumping at the same time to avoid lasers. The character database and music player are pretty good but the port is so broken it actually hurts. Hell, now that I popped the game in the other day, I understood / remembered why its my least favourite Ys game as far as gameplay goes. And then I go to yt, like the idiot I am and watch Vercase's Ernst and Napishtim run...I almost felt sick just looking at the PSP version of the game. On the other hand, it is one of the most important Falcom games for the PSP because it taught them the lesson of "do it yourself since the others will butcher it beyond hell", so...brownie points I guess.

Oh, man...Falcom should release Ys : The Ark of Napishtim [We're sorry on KONAMI's behalf] / [Actual Port] edition for the PSP...after returning from Ys Oath and Ys 7, this is torture...I may have to get the PC version to even be at peace.
