Wonder if Falcom will ever give in the Hunting game crazyness that some big name devs are giving in...Ys VIII : The Hunt for Shuralfos! XD Your skills, weapon and armour depend on the materials gathered by the felled monsters.

Wonder if we'll ever see a Brandish OVA...would be pretty cool. Or if Falcom / the studio that worked with Falcom would ever go back to make Ys 3 OVA.
All that sun after the rain over here is pretty suspicions, especially since gray clouds have going back and forth all morning...

Oh, too bad. Guess I now know why animefreak doesn't update with Falcom Gakuen. Is Kusao's role this...American Adol?

It's not due to my dislike or anything, it just captures the Ys V and Ys VI systems better without the party system, merging the best of both workds. The party system, as awesome as it is has its "problems" in game deisgn due to limitations, since for the system to be successful something must be sacrificed, in Ys 7 it was platforming for sure(don't know if Boss Rush was also ommited because of the party system or because they didn't have time) and in Ys Celceta, there are reports of slowdown. The games may run at a pretty exellent framerate and be the fastest Action RPGs I have seen but like the best action games they suffer from the same thing : they can only handle so much in one screen. Take Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 for example, having to constantly render a large stage with enemies that appear suddenly or on designated spots and often gang up at Ryu but they never appear in more than groups of six or eight, unless the stage in question or the area in question is a small colloseum or a forest arena with very clear boundaries. The reason for that is that the game engine cannot handle anything larger than that number of enemy combatants on screen while generating the stage and take in account the players actions, all these without a)framerate drops, b)intelligence drops from enemies / allies and / or c)glitching out. And given how powerful the Hybrid Engine is, this seems to be a very real problem that Ninja Gaiden 3 Razor's Edge barely got away with by making the larger stage be divided in small areas, separated by the small loading icon to give the player the illusion of the engine "rendering" the whole stage at once. Ys games have really areas quite often and with all that in mind and the fact that the Ys 7 game engine, despite being upgraded to the Celceta engine once it hit the VITA, is nowhere near as powerful as that engine, I'd rather do away with the party system for these remakes to emulate the originals feeling a lot better and make them true remakes. PS : Sorry for the technical, long-ass post.

If a Ys V remake was to be made by Falcom...I'd use the Ys 7 engine but with the Celceta enhancements and without the party system. Instead, have the proper platforming in the team system and an on-the-fly weapon switching or even better, whole set of armour, shield and weapon on the fly, with the sets affecting Adol's appearance like in YsIII.

Nah, just put Falcom to work on those titles, SE's prized stuff for good games are working on their leisure for actual quality titles every two years or so, though saddly most either stay in Japan or just don't have the reception SE wanted in the west. Played some Ys Vs SNK...if only we could have a sequel with more ED characters...and Ys ones of course.

YES! Thank you. I like this version a lot but the other two version offered by Chronicles aren't bad at all, I often found myself switching back and forth to change the pace of battle.

For those wondering, I'm talking about this theme : www.youtube.com/watch?v=URChh1eVoBMI can't seem to find it, at least at the sites I know and trust, so I wonder if it can only be found via game rips or did it actually find its way in some OST? If anyone knows, an answer of which of the two exists will be very appreciated, nothing more.

How cool would it be for Falcom to be called by Square Enix to work on their next Mana / Seiken Densetsu and Xeno titles, if ever? Gotta finish 100% Ys OiF (PSP), missing Inferno diff. Oh, Ys 7...

GachiTora (PSP) Pretty fun game, great mix of Kenka Banchou 3 & 4 with some Ryu Ga Gotoku elements to make it seem like a GTO game. Nice.

Whenever I want to vent and relax this week and the following weeks (exams and all), I'll play and be playing one or two stages of Warriors Orochi (PSP). The calm of the mind that comes from K.O.ing mindless peons before a boss is really cathartic.

Oh, ok then, glad to see he's back for more Falcom lunacy. As for "Orphen" playing him, eh, not that strange, Morikubo was the "JASON STATHAM" of games abck in the 90s, playing almost all action video game heroes of the SNES and then the PSX, starting with Mega Man X. XD...now I know why X has that kickass scarf though! XD

While I love both Takeshi Kusao and Tessho Genda for the roles they played with the characters, they aren't as 'iconic' for the roles as many people make them out to be. (Falcom even made it a point to advertise that they called back the voice actor of Adol from the anime series- which was made in the late 1980's.) They put a voice on Adol and Dogi, but Takeshi Kusao is one of like... 7 or 8 voice actors, before Kaji Yuji, in fact, that have Adol. And it can't be just Kusao's long-lived work and fame, some of the others include Yasunori Matsumoto and Shotarou Morikubo. Unfortunately, I don't have the full list on me. I have to go digging for the book that has it to be able to get everyone, but those were two of the surprising notables I had seen. Yuki was Adol's voice actor in Celceta, which is the reason he was most likely cast for Falcom Gakuen. I wouldn't be surprised if Falcom had originally attempted to contact Kusao for Celceta, but the situation wasn't going to work out- most likely due to scheduling. Falcom couldn't (and in my opinion, shouldn't) delay the game for one aspect of it, afterall. Adol had that many VAs? Didn't he always just grunt in the games(I always asummed it was Kusao and they used the same clips whenever Adol had a "voice"), with the only game "talking" being Ys 7 where...I think Kenji Akabane also did his grunts and his "Yosh!" comment when the player switches to him(his voice did sound way too similar with Geis in 7)? Though for Adol to have that many, especially Gourry himself...wow. If you could find it would be excellent. As for Kaji being Adol...at least they made an excellent choice, he can sound like a nicer and younger Kusao and Kusao already sounds way too nice and young for a dude in his late 40s. I do wonder what his schedule for this year was, the only thing I found he would work on was him reprising Ky Kiske in Guilty Gear Xrd.

www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime.php?id=15747So...has anyone seen that? I'm about to do so, but I'm a bit dissapointed that the Ys characters use Kaji Yuki, Keisuke Baba and Takuya Sato as Adol, Dogi and Geis instead of the more iconic Takeshi Kusao and Tesho Genda respectively...and Kenji Akabane for Geis, really liked him in 7. It is interesting that it is skit-like and filled with the glorious insanity of the Drama CDs of Ys vs. Sora no Kiseki though.

The designer is called Atsushi Ikariya, he did some work on Fate / Zero prior. His style is similar to Enami though.

Something about the new title that bugs me is that while the guy in the shadows looks like Adol from Celceta, we don't see exactly his hair colour and the "Dragon" looks like Galshis from Xanadu Next...as for the woman artwork, the symbols behind her are looking eerilly similar to the "Yggdrasil" of Norwegian lore, the tree of life and the castle at the top...that kind of screams Brandish to me for some reason...
Could the mystery game be another Xanadu remake or a "continuation" / a branch for Xanadu Next to be different from the rest of the Dragon Slayer series? Like Eiyuu Denetsu did years ago? Could it a Dragon Slayer game after so many years?
As for the Sen continuation, while it is pretty excellent that they can continue it in such short time and at the PS3, I hope they still will develop for the PSP...since it isn't really dead over at Japan.
