Taito's awful outings?? I loved that game, and I felt the music was waaaaaaay better than it was in Complete. To each his own I guess.

Taito made Ys 3-5, not 1-2.

Oh yeah Digicube, I remember now. I liked Ys III big time, but Ys IV could have used work. I got Ys V but have yet to play it.

Since Ys I-II are 2d games, and displayed in 640x480, it would be practically impossible to graphically preserve them on a PSP, since its screen is almost half the resolution. Of course, you could make it so that the viewing area is only half as big, but that would make the game very uncomfortable to play. The other solution would be to shrink all the graphics, and that is something that would NOT look good, since we're talking 2d here. On a big sd-tv with a poor signal, it wouldn't be THAT noticable, but on a pixel perfect lcd screen, it would look TERRIBLE!

Ys I-II Complete ran at 640x480? I thought it was bigger than that, ha ha. They're so beautiful!A quick solution would be redoing the stats bar, wouldn't it?

Agreed 100%
I have to find those soundtracks sometime. I don't think they even exist though.

Yeah I am a fan of the PSF format, but it would still be nice to have the actual soundtrack. Plus its a pain in the ass converting to .wav then .mp3.

The best Ys 1-2 soundtracks (excluding all the chip tunes of the old computers and the Master System, which are always superior) are Ys 1-2 Renewal!! Those are super awesome, and highly underrated! Has anybody even mentioned them around here? If not - criminals!!

Yeah I feel the PC engine games had the more 80's feel to them. That PS2 game has updated music that is absolutely perfect for its time.

Um last time I checked, that sounded pretty 80's to me

I disagree. I think typical "midi" sound is very mid 90s. In a really bad way!

Yeah, almost everything Falcom put out musically around 97-98 was awful. And, in my opinion - that includes the games. Mona Mona, Vantage Master, New Legend of Heroes, etc... no thanks!

Yeah, the TUNES were good, but the production (or lack thereof) was terrible. I can't stand that mid 90's midi-esque sound. And what's worse, is that they usually made them in MIDI, but then saved them as wave files! So no matter of your sound equipment, it will still sound like 90's midi! Modern sound cards, like the X-Fi, has excellent MIDI sound, and I wish I could play these games with that. But I can't.

I just found out that Y's DS is coming to America today...I feel behind...But so happy!
Sorry, just wanted to feel a part of the crowd, since I have yet to really sit down and play a Ys game...boohoo. If only I had a Duo to play my copies.

Grah. I disagree wholeheartedly here. Ys I + II DS aren't as bad as everyone claims, same for the PSP port of Ys VI. Give them a shot; if you don't like it, return it to the store you bought em from.
