Well, you do have a point, but does it really need to be Ys I and II again? Like again? I mean, its doesn't look all that great when you pumped out Ys III to someone, and then you end up putting your own version out to "stellar" acclaim. I smell a very smart point of view business practice in the works here. Ys I and II DS came out last year, and now they are putting out the same remade installment? They should have done Ys IV or something. I understand it makes someone like you happy, but your the kind of guy who would tattoo Falcom 4 LYFE on his ass. You love them, and live and breathe each and every release, which is good and fine, don't get me wrong. Your a devoted fan, so its expected. Me personally, I like almost every company to a certain degree, and I love the new content far more than the dribbles of old crap. Hey, in all honesty, I am the same way you are with Dragon Quest, but no one said Squeenix needed money I mentioned this just last year, and Ill bring it up again. Falcom has kind of disappointed me over time. I don't want to have that chat again, but I will at least say I respect what they have offered the gaming world on a whole. I just don't think there worth writing home about in the grand spectrum of things.

Not sure where to come in on this seen as I can agree with both of you. On one hand I don't like the deluge of ports either - I don't play them, I only buy them if there's a soundtrack CD, and I'd much, much rather have more original titles. But the cold, hard truth of it is that wyrdy's right - they're the moneymaker, and without them there'd probably be less new titles overall, so I just ignore them as a kind of necessary evil.
So yeah, I definitely wouldn't say Falcom disappoint me at all. It's kind of like the Tales series - there's usually 3 or 4 games ever year, including ports and fandisks, but I just ignore the majority and buy the Team Symphonia ones. Those have yet to let me down. In the same way while I ignore all the PSP ports and the cheap outsources, Falcom's original PC titles are still awesome and I feel confident every time one's announced that I'm going to have a fantastic time with it. So long as that continues to be the case they'll continue to be my favourite games company.

Fuck all yall. It's time for Ark of Napishtim remakes. If that includes a redone soundtrack with better synth, I'm all for it. Hello rearranged Ernst. Actually considering Zwei got one this is actually possible. DO IT FALCOM, DO IT.

I also partially agree with both Justin and Wyrdwad.
Well, I am also sick of playing Ys I & II over and over again. xDD Sometimes I hate myself for wanting to beat every released version of every Ys game, as that made me beat i. e. Ys I on MSX2, TCD, SAT, PC, PS2, X68000, MS-DOS... and I also went quite far on the NES, PC-8801, SMS, Apple2GS and most of the remaining version (in which I still intend to finish). So, YEAH. Enough. I wish I could have this very same reason to play i. e. Ys IV over and over again, but I was "forced" to play it only 3 times at least. (SNES, PS2 and still finishing TCD's). In that point, I totally agree with Justin. ENOUGH Ys I/II GODAMMIT! XD
But, as Varion also said, Falcom needs money, it's a "kind of necessary evil" as he stated it. There's no way I can deny that. xD It's because of that we get all these outstanding games made by them. Our glorious Ys VI, YsF and YsO, and now Ys 7 potentially. Also, even though we get another damn Ys I/II release, they will likely be good, especially if it differs enough from all of their releases so far, like Justin said. In that point, I totally agree with Wyrdwad. xD There's no helping it.
My conclusion with this is that you both are right in what each of you are defending. So shut up yer damn mouths for now and shake hands. xD

...Maybe they just keep re-re-re-releasing Ys I and II because they don't want the world to forget Lilia...? ...............I'd like a Ys V re-release!

I second the Ys V re-release! It's perhaps... actually, one of my favorites. That puts IV at the bottom of my list, surprisingly.

...Maybe they just keep re-re-re-releasing Ys I and II because they don't want the world to forget Lilia...? A-ha! That's exactly the case. !! Hm... Now that I think of it, since they're re-releasing Ys I & II again, alongside Ys 7,... there may be a reason to this. Like, Ys 7 could be highly connected to Ys I and II. And maybe Lilia is a returning heroine again in Ys 7?

Well, I think they should at least do a IV and IV remake.
That'd be HOT.

Honestly, I'd be pretty hip with a remake of any of the later Ys games.
I mean, look what they could do with Mask of the Sun, given how much plot that bad boy has. Especially if they gank some Dawn of Ys elements for it.
But until I make too many demands, some basic data on the actual new Ys game they're planning would be nice.

So even though I kind of really think Ys VII will take place in Altago too (afterall, weren't Dogi and Adol headed there in the first place? [Or did I just dream that up?]), I'm kind of really wondering, where exactly is Altago?
But that's really not an arabic seven. Not unless if Falcom was meaning to be exotic and failed badly! X'D It could.... actually pass for a two? (Seven is a V!) Or a greek seven as jeffx said (which I have no clue about!)?

It could be that they are trying to be exotic and failed. That's my take on things. : ) I'll be posting a map of the Ys World soon that is labeled by game as well as how old Adol was during each of his adventures. Edit: Note: If Map is Viewing Small, Click Map for a Larger Image Ys III wasn't shown on the map officially, so I'm just guessing where the location of Felghana might be based on the fact that it took Adol 2 years to get there from Celceta. I had to edit the map a lot since this image was from the Ys Complete Works book and it had Adol's foot on part of the map and a picture of Terra covering up most of what was Britai. I had to crank up my DS and play Ys Strategy to reconstruct the top part of Britai. Eventually, if I ever get that new site up and running that actually has an Ys section, there are plans to eventually make an interactive Ys World Map in flash. Afterall, I'm a game geography nut! -Thomas

I think you dreamed that up, sorry. xD Unless they say something about it in Ys V, but I don't think it's the case. Altago is a city in the coast of Afroca. And if I'm not mistaken... it's in North Afroca, to be more precise. This detail is said in Ys VI at some point... And by Baslam if I recall properly... ... eh? Where's your message from before SkyeWelse? I was going to quote it, but you edited it... xD When you asked where Adol met Terra and where Ys V took place. (Well, ahem, anyway, Adol met Terra only in Ys V, in Xandria, not Celceta. And yeah, Ys V takes place in Xandria. xD) Ys III wasn't shown on the map officially, so I'm just guessing where the location of Felghana might be based on the fact that it took Adol 2 years to get there from Celceta. Actually it took only 1 year, not two. Ys III's events happen 1 year after Ys IV's.

I thought Terra was the same girl from Ys IV from the forest village. Also, I deleted what I said since I saw on the map that Ys V was listed as being located at Xandria. Edit: So it was one year and not two? The Adol age chart on the side of the map lists Felghana at Adol being Age 19, where Ys I, II, and IV was when Adol was 17. -Thomas

XD Not actually. Adol's age at: - Ys I = 16 - Ys II = 16 - Ys III = 19 - Ys IV = 18 - Ys V = 19 - Ys VI = 22 The girl you speak of from Ys IV is Karna. Karna rules.

By the way, nice sig -- do I detect Persona 3, Disgaea and Baroque? Dont ask me why Im answering this now ... Actually none of those games characters can be found in my sig, srry. For what its worth there's a Shin Megami Tensei character in there so you were almost correct with Persona 3 Hmm, maybe I should make a Falcom themed one?

Are you saying that the "Book of Ys" tells lies! Did Falcom actually publish something that contradicts other source material? Did Adol not really run a time attack for his quests finishing the entirety of Ys I & II and IV in a single year? Oh that's right! Karna. I guess I just mixed the two up as being the same person. I really need to play Ys V then, though I was holding out for the English release. -Thomas
