Can't say I find it all too odd since music's been my passion since... as long as I can remember. Talking about it with anyone willing to go beyond "your band sux lol" and sharing/ranting is only natural, I think. Music = life, yo. EDIT: Those Riverside tracks are amazing. How have I not heard of them before? And they're POLISH? What the hell? *goes to get the new CD instantly* That was pretty much my reaction when I first found out about them last year. I knew you wouldn't be able to deny Riverside. Mindblowing, they are. Also, How do you put it? HNNNNNNNNNG? Yeah. Thankyou for that. O:

Yes! I love Sonata Arctica! Pain of Salvation is also really good, I need to listen to more (I've just heard the two Perfect Element albums).
Oooh, Bonny Pink! She's wonderful~

And now for something waaaay different than anything posted in this thread. fun. - Aim and Ignite is my favorite album of the year, period. It's so refreshingly different and consistently well paced at the same time, and dare I say, it's rather addicting. You have an amazing taste in music Mr. Lunar. You've single handedly gotten me into two bands immediately after listening to them.
Streetlight Manifesto and now THIS.

I think this is good enough of a different side of my music taste.
Susumu Hirasawa[/b]
First song!
Yume no Shima Shinen Kouen
This is the opening to Paranoia Agent and is very very good. It is great because it somehow mixes electronica with traditional music and sound like some sort of tribal chant. I love it!
Second song!
Forces
An important theme from Berserk and also the Next Episode song. I love it so much, and again is gives off the vibe of a traditional song. Mr. Hirasawa is quite the genious. I'd love to hear the song played by a live band someday.
Forces II
The sequel to Forces, which I believe appears in the PS2 game. I still haven't played that, but the soundtrack is pure Jesus.
Expert Mountain
A softer song, it totally surrounds you. This is a live video, and very good. Look at more of his live stuff, its quite impressive.
Sign
Haunting, no? Another Berserk song, for good measure. This is totally amazing.
AAaand a bonus song by...
PENPALS - Tell Me Why[/b]

Pff. Not as much soul as Edwin Starr. To be honest, DT is too wank-y for me. I like shredding, but only when it's done right, and Petrucci and Rudess are just... bleh. No melody, no feeling, no like. I respect their talents, but they need to start playing music. :/

Err, they're actually Finnish. But anyway; yeah, Stratovarius are one of the few classic power metal bands that interest me, and they're one of the founders, too. I should probably listen to them more. :/

XD Heehee, just the name 'Shaka Labbits' always makes me giggle when I see it... So, after discerning that a sizable chunk of us on this board are metal fans of some ilk, I remembered a band one of my coworkers drew my attention to last year. I can't remember if I ever plugged 'em here before, since I'm constantly plugging my music to my friends anyway. Hard to keep track of who's gotten to hear what these days. BUT ANYWAY! Van Canto is a capella metal. Yes, you read that right: No guitars, just a buncha people singin' and a drummer. Seriously, just clicky. Even if you don't like it, you have to admire them for their creativity. My personal fave here. Also worth noting to Blind Guardian fans- Hansi Kursch has a guest spot in this song. ^.^v Speaking of Blind Guardian, they also did a cover of one of their songs... They actually cover a lot of bands, come to think... Next time, I think I'll dig into my non-Metal, non-Japanese selection of junk to recommend!

Wonderful posts everyone!
Non game music: It is extremely difficult for me to get attached to something other than game music, but I give Amberian Dawn my highest recommendation. It also helps that I'm crazy for gorgeous female vocalists! They are from Finland, and have two albums now:
My pick from their first album, River of Tuoni is "Fate of the Maiden":
From The Clouds of Northland Thunder, their second album, "Lionheart":
Also, Yuzo Koshiro Rules! This is from Etrian Odyssey II:

I give mega hi5's to all the other Blind Guardian fans in this thread. Honestly, they are one of my favorite bands and even though I got into them only a few years ago, they have managed to rock my socks time and time again. I am smitten completely with "Sadly Sings Destiny" and "Into the Storm". I also really REALLY like Iron Maiden's "Rime of the Ancient Mariner" If you've ever read the short story that song is based off of, it not only follows it faithfully, it kicks its ass with a rocking song set to it. it's like 15 minutes long but worth all of it if you ask me. I'm a metalhead I guess.
