For anyone who needs a bit of help with accessories, the list on our new unofficial wiki is nearly complete. Everything up to shop level 11 is translated (thanks Alerith!), and I've just about finished Adol's character page. Any help we can get would be much appreciated, although I'd definitely prefer that whoever wishes to help contact me through the IRC before making any changes. I'm trying to keep the layout as clean as I can.

I shall make great use of your extensive writeups when they come, having read Adol's, because damnit if I don't suck at fightan gaems.
Fine work, squire. You deserve a muffin.

I bought mine from NCSX. They're located in NYC so you can pretend you bought the game domestically if you want. Still in Japanese though.

Oh, yeah the reason I came on in the first place: Are there any little moves you can do with button combinations in this game... like in Ys 7 L and R initiates a flash guard, something I don't think they ever come out and say.

You could import too, y'know! -Tom Money issues are the problem here. Especially with Ys Seven coming out in 15 days. D:

Oh, yeah the reason I came on in the first place: Are there any little moves you can do with button combinations in this game... like in Ys 7 L and R initiates a flash guard, something I don't think they ever come out and say. Flash guarding is streamlined; square initiates a normal guard, which can be held at the cost of rapidly draining stamina. If you can time it perfectly, a flash guard is initiated, using no stamina (afaik) and having the same critical hit guarantee effect as in Seven. R+L now triggers your support ability, triangle is jump, and cross is evade. You can airdash by evading in the air.

Yes the buttons are configurable. The first thing I did when I loaded my game for the first time is change my button setup.

I use RemoteJoy and a gamepad to play, with jump also set to R2 and guard also set to L2. It's a lot better.

I hate all of you... At least I've got a mate who's offered to pick up my copy for me and send it on but that's still going to leave me game-less for another week.

Pleasantly surprised by VMJ PUK tracks, previously unreleased, on the Collective Music Files.

I unlocked Lloyd! Yay! Now all that's left is to grind everyone up to 99... The accessories list on the wiki is complete, by the way. And so are several character pages, now. I've also yet to find someone that I can play with online. Has anyone tried setting up Kai yet?

The drama CD is absolutely *amazing*. I've not laughed so hard in a very, very long time. It shows what sort of crack these writers can be on. Correction: shrooms.

After playing it for several dozen hours and accumulating hundreds of wins, I can safely say that you can indeed kick ass and take names with the right character and mindset. With enough practice, you should never need to get back up, because you won't get knocked down. Besides, you can shorten your downtime by using roll.
I'm personally content with the controls, and besides the fact that it's hard to guard while charging an attack without some cheating (yay RJL and gamepads), they're about as good as they could possibly be. Also, having jump and roll on the same button would be a huge no-no--that would mean you'd have to stand still to jump, it would be impossible to do a double-jump and much harder to do an airdash, and it would get rid of the homing roll.
If anything, they haven't gimped it, they've improved it tenfold. The controls are much tighter, combat is faster (especially on Nightmare), and the new features are much welcomed. Seriously, normal guard is a godsend.
