I'm happy with it; it's fast paced and the gameplay is clean. The only gripe I have is with the controller... if it were on say, the PC, I'd be able to use all of my fingers to activate the different commands at the same time (like charge an attack while guarding). I may just have to reconfigure the controller to have jump and guard on L and R, like I think someone else did.

I played through the story mode as Adol first and just finished with Geis a few hours ago. Tried a couple of the other characters, but I think I'm too big of a fan of Adol to really like anyone else as much. He's too rounded not to like.

kotaku.com/5605660/sexy-sengoku-samurai-cute-vocaloids-storm-japans-sales-chartsYs vs Sora no Kiseki breaks the top 10 but is utterly trumped by the umpteenth million + 3 retelling of the warring states period featuring pretty boys and the overly idolized glorified speak 'n' spell with an underage girl for the mascot. Welcome to Japan. (solutions to my ranting: Sengoku Basara 3 and Project Diva 2nd... more like 1.5th amirite)

So is 30k copies sold good for Falcom or average or what? I'm not sure what's considered good for a small business.

30k for the first week is real good for Falcom, as far as I know.

Mwahaha! It's finally here! Jumping right in with Geis and aside from the realization that it's gonna take ages to unlock all the music it's been a pretty cool experience so far. Just one question (at the moment): Are weapons and armor really a one-way 'upgrade through points' thing all the way through the game?

I've been playing through as Estelle to get the annoying genki girl out of the way first. Has anyone been playing on the higher difficulties? I was on hard for a while and found the CPU to be much more aggressive. I couldn't find a good way to interrupt their assault and would usually lose in a battle of trading hits. I eventually had to go back to Normal when I got to the first 2v2 'cause they'd just take out my partner right away and then lock me down so I couldn't fight back. Sometimes Normal is too easy, though. I've won 1v1s against characters 3 levels higher than me with 50% health left.

Ohohoho, wait until you try Nightmare. The AI on Nightmare redefines cheating.

Alternative Saga set review by Splatter Trigger: ...damn, look at that collection.

Definitely looks like you're expected to have an awesome item loadout/character build in order to survive in Nightmare. You do get more rewards from playing higher difficulties, though.
I finished the game with Estelle last night and what a disappointing final battle.. mainly because it didn't play Evildoer from Xanadu Next during the fight.

So I was a bit put off by this game at first, but I think that's because I wanted Tita to be more fun that she is. I've now played as Adol, Estelle, Geis and Renne. I was all set to love the hell out of Renne after beating her Arcade mode, but then I went and did Geis' story mode and discovered just how much of a badass he is. I'm digging this pretty hardcore now. Not 'Gene levels of hardcore, but significantly more than I was.

Renne is one of the hardest characters to use, in my opinion. She has a good bit of power, great range, and the best AoE game in the game--but she's almost as fragile as the ranged fighters. Your mileage may vary, of course.
Geis is definitely one of my favorites. His brutal air combo, awesome skills, and talisman mines really make him great.

I dunno, I didn't have too much of an issue using her. Like, the Arcade Galsis was frustrating as all hell for me as Adol, but I oneshot the bastard as Renne. It's like I can still play as something turbocute, since Tita didn't really pan out for me. ^_^ Geis' air combo was love at first sight. I was hanging out with friends today and while they were playing Xbox I broke out laughing when I started his first story mission and saw his air combo. "Hahaha, holy shit this is awesome!" His kickass skills are just icing on the cake, really!

Galsis is only really tough for Adol because of his lack of large-range aerial attacks, while Renne is basically the exact opposite. So yeah.

So I'm missing 4 music tracks (no.24-27) in the VS. Battle list, any idea how to unlock them?

So I'm missing 4 music tracks (no.24-27) in the VS. Battle list, any idea how to unlock them? These are the themes for the three stages unlocked through BP and the Falcom Office. Battle on them in Free Mode and the tracks will appear in the shop.

Errr, that takes care of three of those four songs, but what about the last one?

Isn't there some kind of training mode with infinite SP so I can get a proper feel for the skills and figure out which ones I actually want?

There is indeed a training mode. You can activate it on the menu after selecting a stage in Free Mode, it's the second-to-last option. You won't have INFINITE SP, but it will regenerate extremely quickly, and so will your EX and HP. You can also leave AI on if you want.
