Question: How difficult are these games (I & II, VI and OiF)? Which one should I start with? (Not counting Origins since that one isn't in English yet.)
I kinda like easy/relaxing games...

VI is probably the easiest, and OiF is DEFINITELY the hardest. Fortunately, all of them have selectable difficulty levels, and because it's such a hard game, OiF actually offers a "Very Easy" mode, beyond the usual "Easy"... and if you play OiF on Very Easy mode, I'd say the hardest game in the series suddenly becomes the easiest. So yeah... probably best to start with either VI, or OiF on Very Easy. Uh ... VI is easier than I & II? Really?? You know, I've always found it funny that Ys Eternal had a Very Easy mode. Who exactly is that difficulty aimed at? Little children? I mean, the game isn't exactly hard at all <== Considering I suck at about everything, this is a pretty unusual statement from me! Only the last 2 bosses gave me a hard time. :B

Erm, yeah I wouldn't call Ys relaxing either. Sometimes I'm in the mood for that kind of game and pop in Mario or some other platformer... but Ys can be pretty tricky and most bosses don't go down in one try.

Really? I dunno, I actually think it's pretty difficult, if only because you're bound to be underleveled by the time you get to a boss (if you play normally), and that boss will then KICK YOUR ASS, requiring you to level-up and go back. In Ys VI... I dunno, that never happened. For me, Ys VI was pretty easy! Plus, in 1 especially, you really need to MASTER the bump system, as you can die pretty quickly if you're not perfectly angled. Well, I just run if I realize that a chunk of HP gets taken off by an unsuccessful bump. I don't think I died many times from regular enemies. I did probably die at least once from every boss fight though. :D! And heheheh. "if you play normally"~~ That's NOT me! I grind like a mofo at every opportunity and then buy/look for the best armor and weapons possible before taking on the next boss. XD! Buuuuut Ys I kind of has that low-level max out though ... ^^; Still, I don't think it's a game I'd label as difficult (mainly cuz I level up like mad).

If I encounter too much trouble I can always cheat right? Hehe, anyways if it's like other RPGs some leveling can always make things easier and I'm also like Disturbing Username said, I like to grind a lot. I also like bosses that you need to learn patterns and stuff like Megaman.
EDIT: You mentioned ALL of them had selectable difficulty levels but I though VI just had Normal? It doesn't have anything easier than that right?

In Ys VI... I dunno, that never happened. So you beat Majunun the first time you encountered him? Tell us the story, oh brave one! I know I died at least twenty times just getting to the chest with the Elder Orb, much less managing to open the chest and leave the room without dying in the process. I found myself humming the Brave Sir Robin song on the trip back out with some frequency. Also, three words: Nightmare Mode Orjugan. As for I, I think the fact that you're pretty much required to max out your level before Darm Tower (and if you don't you'll max out before Pictimos whether you're trying to or not) balances out the difficuly for the entire second half of the game. The enemies aren't too painful at that point, Pictimos is a patience game, Khonsclard is mostly luck and... okay, the last two bosses are evil. This is slightly balanced out by the amusement value of watching a friend get slaughtered by Dark Fact because he went into the battle totally unprepared (specifics avoided in case Alexis hasn't beat I yet).

I was lucky the first time I played Ys VI in that it only took two attempts to get the Orb. However, actually trying to fight the little cute looking boss was an entirely different story. XD And yeah, in Ys I, you definitely max out before heading into the Tower which means it's all mad skillz from then on. But hey, the player has had a few hours of battle practice before then! Also, I think Ys VI even had a Very Easy patch later on??? I still don't know why they exist. ^^;

For people who don't care about challenge, and just want to enjoy a fun game! I can totally understand it, and it's kind of a miracle I don't always play Falcom games on Very Easy. There was a time in my life when I definitely would've. (: Well, admittedly, I play games on Easy just so I can finish the game fast for whatever reason. ^^ Sometimes, it's for writing walkthroughs but in the case of Ys games, I do Normal first and then do Easy because there's usually differences between the two modes. :\ I KNOW I SURE LIKED Ys ORIGIN ON EASY MORE THAN NORMAL. Stupid freakin' desert dungeon and the moving spiked obstacles! I kept bouncing off of them when I was playing the game with The Claw. >____>

For me it's just a matter of finishing the game fast so I can move to other games... That and the fact that I don't even have much time to play either and I wouldn't like to spend the little play time I have on the same dungeon/boss. Also where can I download that "Very Easy" patch you mentioned?

...whereas normal-mode Felghana is adrenaline-pumping, edge-of-your-seat intense! Opinions are crazy things. Just felt like saying that. D: Beating final boss of Zwei 2 at lv1 was a bit more crazy, to me. :x

This be a funny conversation. XD No! You're wrong! :( Wyrdwad, you should try out inferno mode. (: Yeah, I'll NEVER be doing that, thanks. (: Ya know, I tried a Gurumin dungeon on Pleasure mode because I managed to get someone else's save file to work and I was doing fine until I got hit. PARIN'S HP WENT DOWN TO 5 HP from something like 30. That's from ONE hit. I stopped playing after that because if regular enemies can do that then boss battles meant INSTA-DEATH. XD

Btw.. about that patch where can I find it? Falcom's page? For Ys VI? They're here: falcom.com/qanda/update/index.htmlThing is, I checked the readme file (of the limited edition. I didn't download the other two. :P) and there doesn't seem to be any mention about the addition of Very Easy so I might have been thinking about Felghana. ◎イースVIナピシュテムの匣(特典版) ◎イースVIナピシュテムの匣(通常版) ◎イースVIナピシュテムの匣(普及版) Incidentally, the three patches are, in order: limited edition, regular edition, and popular/small box edition. Don't be a doofus like me and download the wrong one because otherwise, your game won't work! Chances are, you have the latter (普及版). Dur, board not copying the Japanese characters properly. =_____=; But I hope you get the point!

You know, there's a certain female character near the end of the game that shows more of bare skin in that mode. L.OL WUT Can't tell if this is trolling or not, but I don't remember anything else really changed about Inferno other than difficulty and the special hidden boss.

Wow, I didn't realize they bothered with tiny changes like those. I'm just getting to Chester 2 on my first playthrough in inferno mode. The w-boost thing is making some really hard bosses not so bad. Otherwise it's kicking my ass in the best way possible.
