It's not about being nicey-nicey, let's-not-hurt-other-peoples-flower-like-souls either, just a bit of restraint and basic manners is all that's needed. But that's the thing, even when holding back, the results were still the same. I think you saw that yourself with the whole XSEED trailers debacle; we started off polite, and then escalated into the train wreck from the Terra thread. I'll admit that HJ's comment about Narugami was definitely rude, however, I believe her comment was equally rude, and it just annoys me that Wyrdwad Tom looked over it because he personally thought it was a nice and happy post. Same deal with stuff like TitS' major plot points being spoiled, and then subsequently being looked over as just an honest mistake, and certain users filling their posts with subtle flaming that he hasn't bothered to (or can't) notice. And just for the record, saying that Varion left because of HJ is an outright filthy lie, so please don't try to make that seem official. |

... where is this spoiler you speak of? I've looked through the thread and can't find it, and I never noticed it before, unless it's the comment on Estelle, in which case, that isn't a spoiler at all.
Also, I still don't see how Narugami was rude. If anything, she was being pretty damn polite in defending herself.

The spoiler was edited out to make sure no one else could read it. Ironically, HJ was the first one to read it, and despite being angry about it, he responded politely and suggested that the OP remove the spoiler.
As for Narugami, replying to someone with "Uh, no" is an incredibly conceited and rude way to post. Then comes "Alas, as a female, I am not immediately hilaritized by the mention of breasts." If you can't see how that's rude and snobby, especially since any and all TitS comments were made jokingly, then I'm not going to take the time to explain it to you.

I just thought I'd mention, that I'm the one that started this thread, & I personally did not find any of Naru's comments to be rude. However, I'm now very sorry that I even started this thread, or atlteast, sorry that I named it the way I did.  |

Thank you, mods. It was ridiculous when it was me and Smithee, who actually fought back some. Escalating things to Narugami, who did nothingirude (AT ALL), would have only set a precedent for a further downward spiral. . . next week it would have been Yakra, and nobody wants that. And while I know many people aren't fans of my own blunt demeanor and occasionally snarky retaliations, without anyone left to provoke me ('cept maybe Wyrd from time to time  ) I don't think there'll be cause for ANYONE to get worked up anymore, and what doesn't go around can't come around. I'm really eager to see this place returned to the friendly and civil forum I joined a year ago. |

I've already typed out an explanation, since you seemed confused, Wyrd, and to respect your rule, I'll PM it to you for elucidation. And to clarify, I do miss Varion as well. . . I have for a couple months now since he made it clear (somewhat regularly) just what he thinks of me. As for your comment about my last post being tamer than usual: why the hell do all you people read so much venom into my posts? If you go in looking for something that isn't there, it's no surprise you get bent out of shape when you intentionally misinterpret everything I say. Seriously, it seems like there are only two or three people who actually know to take what I say at face value and not make something out of it that it isn't. I've never addressed anyone with even a shred of hostility unless it was in retaliation to hostility, and while I have a tendency toward candor, it is never delivered in a flagrant or insulting manner. Even when I occasionally offer teasing quips, always offered in one liners and not in a ranting capacity, they are harmless good natured jokes, which most people have the sense to take as seriously as when I offer lewd advances. If you aren't offended by my come ons, you shouldn't be offended by my jibes. . . baby. |

I hope so...it would feel like dictatorship otherwise :S The current staffing situation doesn't help much - FM-88 seems to be on indefinite leave, Maggot's vanished for a bit, MP83 seems to be more "back of house" sorting out all the little things that keep the place tidy... which just leaves Wyrd as the face of ALoY modding. Staff - it would probably help the mood here if you all (that were present) made a few posts echoing Wyrd's recent statements about policy, to prevent it coming across to us regular folk as a one-man crusade. (Not intended as a personal slight against anyone, just an observation) |
