Alright, the rules are simple. I can't remember a whole lot about the game. I will name off everything I *do* remember. The objective? Name that game! Details ---------- Console: SNES Title: N/A Genre: Action-Platformer Areas: Stage/Level-based, Points of No Return Character: N/A Theme: I suppose it's based off of a movie, with horror elements. Timer: Likely. Area 1: A dark, gloomy, cloudy outdoor area. Trees, grass, hills, some questionable topography. Fall-through grass (pits) which seamlessly lead to grim brown underground areas. At the end of Area 1, you come to a mansion-esque building. Enemies: Area 2: Inside the mansion. Lots of staircases, possibly some chandeliers. Quite regal. I died here. Enemies: This is all I can remember. Make good use of it!

Uh, I doubt it since it isn't based off of a movie, and I'm not sure if Area 2 matches but Super Castlevania IV sprung to mind.

Yeah, it's definitely not Super Castlevania IV. Excellent game though!

Well, my guess based on the description is that it would be "Super Ghouls and Ghosts". : 0
Edit: Well, scratch that. SGAG didn't have chandeliers in the second stage as I recall... Hmm..

Nope. Super Ghouls and Ghosts is too dark -- there is some blue sky, if I recall. I'm not sure, the scale of everything seems different in my mind. Zoom out... I seem to think that the character looks smaller, and that you see more of the level layout. I don't think it's a different resolution, but more likely that everything is drawn smaller. I've concluded that it's not Lawnmower Man, and it's not Hellraiser (because apparently, Hellraiser doesn't exist?). Hmmm... other franchises... it's definitely NOT The Addams Family -- I saw that one coming before anyone could mention it!

If it wasn't for the platform, I'd probably conclude it's Dangerous Dave 2, but well it's for PC.

No and no. Maniac Mansion is the wrong genre.
I must clarify that the console could also be Sega Genesis, not just SNES. I'm really leaning toward the SNES here, though.

I think the enemies are insects and zombies -- or some kind of human badguys, or something like that. I think the character uses a short weapon, like a sword, or a dagger, or maybe he punches -- either way, his range was limited. ...infact, I don't think he began with a weapon. I think he had to take a pitfall to get a weapon... Excuse my MSPaint-y-ness, but something like this, comes to mind for area/"level" 1:

If it wasn't for the platform, I'd probably conclude it's Dangerous Dave 2, but well it's for PC. There was a Dangerous Dave 2?! Wow... I remember loving the first one, way back when. Yeah, in fact I believe there were 3 or 4 of them total. 2 was always my favourite, it's a straight-out shooter with a bit less platforming and crap. It's all about shooting zombies with your shotgun ^_____^ EDIT: Yup, it's 4: Dangerous Dave, Dave in the Haunted Mansion, Dave's Risky Rescue and Dave Goes Nutz!

Never on the SNES.
It was on the Turbo Grafx, and then it was on the Genesis for the next two installments. Of course the TG-16 game is a port of the arcade version. He has a red mask! (Or purple I can't tell!)

Excuse my MSPaint-y-ness, but something like this, comes to mind for area/"level" 1: That drawing reminds me of Pitfall but I know that's not the game you're talking about. D: Descriptions need to be more vague! It should read like: "It was released during that year and it had those people in it. You know, those people? Oh, and it had music and sound effects too."

Music and sound effects? That's silly; you're silly.

The joke of the matter is that she is not silly; that is the norm.
To be honest, I just really wanted to use a semi-colon and probably improperly to boot.

Nope, it's not Splatterhouse or Valis. Valis is an awesome series, though!

Now, you're required to say the same about Splatterhouse, else death awaits you. ... Awaits you in the... WEST MANSION[/size]

A game where you play as a character that LOOKS like Jason should let you put your enemies in sleeping bags and whack them against trees, furniture and other enemies.
