If Ys I & II makes it to other countries outside of Japan, it will be interesting to see the response of people playing it for the first time.

Isn't that strange? I wonder what makes some people put the ' there. Is it because they think it's pronounced "Y's" or "Whys" as in something that belongs to the letter "Y"? or do they actually think it's spelt that way? do they actually imagine that ' in the official logo of the games? Whatever the reason is, it's definitely dumb and I'm glad I realized in the beginning that if it were supposed to be "Y's" they would have spelt that that way officially. but I wonder if anyone here once spelt it that way then they can tell us why they did it. anyways, this is another topic... I wonder how much this site will change after the release of Ys on VC. Will there be double the members? Will we have to constantly tell people to stop spelling Ys wrong? Will Ys become somewhat more popular due to being critically acclaimed? or will it be brushed off as too simplistic and archaic by even critics? I can guarantee at least 5 dumb people will say "just download Zelda", that's what they said for Neutopia I and II which both just came out recently.

Isn't that strange? I wonder what makes some people put the ' there. This cover, maybe? heh, i forgot about that atrocity... but I doubt this many people have seen it. A little less than half of the messages about Ys I see outside of fan sites contain a misspelling of Ys. I saw about 4 different people misspell it today.

By the way, I'd say "translate" is kinda stretching it. Mario's Picross and Super Mario Bros The Lost Levels contain like two words at most. Does Lost Levels even have a single Japanese character in it? I doubt it. Also, Japanese-only games coming out in NA/Europe isn't exactly news. The japan-only PCE game Battle Lode Runner came out worldwide a long time ago, for example.
Y's was used in all those american PCE magazines. Ys III for SNES said Y's on the back of the box. It even said Y's The Ark of Napishtim on the Ys VI PS2 plastic seal. It's been used in many other places, but I don't remember where right now.

Really? I didn't know that about Battle Lode Runner. And you're right that these games don't really require any localization to bring them over. Actually, I've read that they left both those Mario games in Japanese (I guess there's some Japanese characters in the ending or something) for the European VC. It sucks that you can only download Lost Levels for a limited time too.
Oh, and I just saw a professional site spell it as "Y's" in their news about Turbo Duo games coming to VC... for shame. Even though it's been spelt that way in so many places, at least it's never like that in the logos for the games.

I think Final Soldier is also on the Wii in the US.

With that, another reason to get a Wii ASAP.

only if you have a Japanese Wii, or can you get onto the Japan accounts of the VC? With de PS3 I managed to get onto the US and EU PS store, need to figure out how to get onto a Japanese one.

No it's not possible. You need a japanese Wii. But hey, ever heard of PC Engine? Get one of those instead. Or if you're reading this, you're probably using a computer - use it instead. It's the same old game. It's not new. Do not get a new system to play an old game. That's the epitome of mad. Mad!

d00ds, it's been confirmed that Turbo Duo games are coming to all regions. You don't need a Japanese Wii. Just need patience.

www.nintendo.co.jp/wii/vc/pce.htmldon't see it in the list yet and I got a Duo-R and the Ys games, but most of my friends, who also like Ys, don't have one. the VC will let them enjoy the game as well. and Neo Geo games to VC are also awesome, since that console is way to expensive, even today

www.hudson.co.jp/corp/news/bn2007/070914.pdfI want it to come to VC for the same reason. And it'll be another excuse to play the game again... actually having payed for it this time! EDIT: OMG Hudson still spells Ys wrong!

God, now that's just sad. Even some of the developers can't spell it anymore... Hopefully Falcom will never succumb. That would be a dark day for true Ys fans.

No Ys yet, but this is just the beginning. But I'll happily take Gate of Thunder! Ever since I saw one video of it on You Tube I've been wanting to hear some more of it's music! and I've said it before and I'll say it again... Hudson's Japanese press release for Turbo CD games coming to Wii's VC already confirmed that it's eventually coming to all territories, so just hang tight
