So, how do I use items? Like, I have the Brooch selected in my inventory, this is suppposed to increase enemy drops, right? It's the item I got as a reward for escorting that kid from the Ruins entrance to the Castle...
Yeah, this brooch isn't like the crystal (which gives off light) or the amulet which protects from lava exposure, it resides in the inventory. Once I got that Stone Slab thing (which gives you the double jump), I realized that the brooch is "always on". I mean, you don't have to have the Stone Slab "highlighted" to double jump, you can always do so from that point on in the game.
I seem to be missing items in my inventory. I'm most pissed off. Remember that dude you trade Revals for cash? At the third exchange he gives you a ring. I traded that ring to the female arms merchant in the shop, but she never actually gave me anything in exchange! What gives?
Also, anyone know where to find the third Ruby? I can't seem to find it, for the life of me!
"My game keeps freezing randomly. I think it's a sound issue because everything will just freeze frame and the sound will become one loud beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep that never ends until I turn my PC off. Ctrl-Alt-Delete does nothing nor does Alt-F4. the only way to end the madness it to reset, reboot, and try again. Anyone got any suggestions?"
i seem to have the same problem- and turning off the sound fx doesnt help.. any suggestions?
Thank you. MP83, a ruby is a red gem, so I'm obviously talking about the fire ring. Hmmm, the problem with that FAQ is that he doesn't mention it in his walkthrough, like he does for the others. I'm missing the Clocktower ruby then. Any ideas?
Perfect! Thank you! I just didn't want to re-explore the whole thing. I found the Clock Tower to be a bit annoying in this game.
Edit - Couldn't resist. Looks like the only item I missed and cannot get now is the War G-d Symbol. What a shame!! I will have to start over now! *sighs*
Everything else (except for that 1 Ruby I'm missing), I'll be getting on Genos Island, which I've barely begun to explore yet. Well, I guess that one item I missed is quite natural since I cannot understand a word of the game, and didn't realize I had TWO possibilities for swapping, not one. Just bad luck that I found the incorrect swap first!
Ooh, a potion that adds HP and a potion that permanently adds Dashing when used? See? I had no idea what those were, now I'll have to actually use them! What's dashing do?

Well, I took a week off from the game, but today I want back, got that damn missing Ruby, finished Genos Island, and beat the game.
AMAZING experience, though I think the endgame (end of Genos Island, Garland, Galvalan, Ending) were a bit better in classic Ys III. Going underground instead of fighting up above just wasn't as... classy, I guess.
Still though. Brilliant game, and I just want to reiterate my shock that they took my least favorite Ys game and turned it into my favorite. Brilliant.
